• Photoshop CS5 x 64 crash when changing the layer styles

  Hey there,

  I searched and searched through the entire interweb, but almost no one seems to have never had such a problem, so I think it is the right place to ask and hope to be helped . Short version is: Photoshop CS5 (x 64) is constantly crashing when you change a layer style.

  Recently, I installed my CS5 Design Premium on a new laptop (Fujitsu Lifebook AH351) and I have serious problems with Photoshop CS5. On the first run, everything was fine, and he keep like this for a while. Now every time I try to edit a layer style Photoshop crashes immediately. I did not need to change anything, just open the layer style, press OK and Photoshop has disappeared. I can work around by resetting the preferences that works until the next reboot, no matter if I change anything on the settings or not. Tried this on the initial version of the PS and the last update (12.0.4). Once I have reset settings yet, I can work again on the layer styles. Any of you have a similar problem or an allusion to what I could look at?

  The Lifebook has of a decent feature which I think somehow the culprit in this case: it has an on-board graphics unit and a separate GPU (nVidia GForce GT 525 M) that can be added in on a program basis. Indeed, Photoshop recognizes and allows me to enable the OpenGL functions as well, so from there, it seems. The internal GPU cannot be disabled because connect you your monitors.

  WindowBlinds was probably to blame.  It's a bad app that changes the window settings and made generally bad things for the environment of the user interface to achieve a different look.

  There may be more options for things you can do (bad) to Windows, such as the screws of the metric of the display with the software from StarDock, simply because Windows is more popular - but if you don't about frivolous things with your system it can be as clean and steady work as a Mac system , if not better.  Mac have many of their own problems.

• Keyboard shortcuts do not work after changing the blending mode to a layer

  There is a strange bug that I experienced with photoshop. Whenever I change the blending mode to a layer (for example by selecting "Multiply" in the menu drop-down blending mode), my keyboard shortcuts stop working until I have click on the canvas again. It's annoying because often, I'll be on the Brush tool and I did draw on the canvas and press ctrl + z to re - activate keyboard shortcuts. I'm curious to know if this problem occurs to someone else and if anyone has found a solution for this.

  It happens on Windows, because the drop-down list with blend modes remains highlighted or active (around the blue line). You can press ENTER to confirm and delete the highest point around blend mode dropdown or use keyboard shortcuts to change the layer blending mode. To change the layer blend mode, you must have selected layer and then press Shift + Alt + letter for the blend mode. This shortcut does not work in the case where the tool you are using have mode option in the blending Options bar.

• Using the layer style, mix if it doesn't work

  I use the layer style, if mix GREEN mode and he abandoned all colors.  Why is this happening?  The photo is a RGB 8 bit jpg.  When I select any color or grayscale it takes all colors.  I'm doing something wrong?

  Not a bug. The color range tool, remembers the last setting even after outgoing PS and he raises. Because this setting can be from a completely different image, unconnected with, the memory can be disconcerting to a user unfamiliar with this tool.

  Just ignore the displayed initial selection and start highlighting the left of the three eyedroppers and click in the image on a color you want to select. Twist the blur to expand or reduce the range of color affected. Switch to pipettes middle or right and click a different tone of color linked to add or subtract from the original selection.

  Optionally, you can choose to stay with the eyedropper on the left and press SHIFT or Alt keys while clicking on the image to add or subtract.

  For what you are trying to do it on the specific image you presented, you won't find the satisfactory color range tool.

  Hi Alohayamuna,

  Click on the "fx" icon in the lower left corner of the layer Style dialog box, and then choose "Reset to default list." (See below)

  Note the entry for "Remove Hidden effects;" this will hide all entries that are not in use. Reset bring em all.

  If the images are all anchored objects, you can use find/replace to find the anchor point and change the paragraph style only once for all paragraphs.

• Opacity and transparency regarding the layer styles lost on rasterize/flatten/merge down (cs6)

  So, I'm working on a project and I do a button and I came across a problem that I don't normally have with that special touch... I don't know why it's happening or how to fix... but it's pretty boring. I wonder if anyone can help or if this is a known bug or something like that!

  So I have three files for three different States and within each folder are several layers, some with layer styles (he seems to be degraded who play here to the top and opacity associated), other styles of layer with no just lowered opacity. I need to flatten each file to create the button sprites. The problem is... I put flat file and it seems to disable the gradient layer of related styles, and whatever it is reduced opacity is tilted up to 100%. I tried to go through and Pixelation delinquency, invidiual layers. The same problem. I tried to create empty layers and merge down the offending layers. The same problem.

  Yes, I think you ask Photoshop to do something that he cannot do. A layer can have only a blending mode. Or it can have a blend mode, then adding effects with a mix of different modes. When you merge in a single layer, you're going to lose this.

• Elements 9 problems with the layer styles

  Hi, I searched the Forum but still not managed to install my layer styles in item 9.

  The asl files are currently in c/program files 86/adobe/elements9/presets/styles, but they may not appear when I launch the editor.  I even tried graphix add o matic nothing helps.  If anyone can tell me where I'm wrong, I would be really grateful.  I am running windows 7 on pc

  Install the styles in the shadow folder:

  "C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\9.0\Photo Creations\layer styles"

  Then delete this hidden file:

  "C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\9.0\Locale\en_us\MediaDatabase.db3".

  Start PES and wait while it automatically rebuilds this database file.

  You need to temporarily change your folder options to enable the display of hidden files.

  As before open table properties. Make sure you select 'Table' and then click 'Advanced Edit' button

  In HTML tab attributes

  • Type "bordercolor" in the "attribute".
  • in value, you can use the word for example: blue or type a string for example HTML color: #3333ff
  • Click OK to close the advanced properties editor
  • Click 'Apply' to see color.
  • Click OK to close the properties of the table.

  If you don't know HTML color string, you can find some here.
  In a normal write the message, click on the text color icon to open a small window of text color. When you select the color, it will show you the html string of the color, which must be the hash tag # before letters them and numbers.

  Thanks for the information.  I just downloaded and installed Microsoft Steady State 2.5 to see what you are taling about (although I don't really need the program in my situation, but I didn't know it even existed and I Koe case where something like this could help someone tha more the solution I provided so thank you to knowledge - just because I spend a lot of time on this Forum do me not to the) current all Microsoft products as he proves it).

  Now I see what you mean by alternative connection model and see how it varies what offers Vista. Vista has no way to change the screen to look like this - it can only use the very limited options he has available.

  Check out Stardiock to http://www.stardock.com/products/logonstudio/ , where you have a certain number of options of choice login screen (and links to hundreds more on the web).  I don't know if the one you want is one of those that are available, but it could be (and you can even find one that you like even better).  Reading further, this may just change the background of the connection - not the best so it may not apply in your situation (but I could be wrong). Frankly, I don't have the time to download and get it myself - but if you want to try, feel free to do so.

  -Click on Administrative Tools
  -Double click on local security policy
  -In the left pane, click the triangle next to local policy
  -In the left pane, click Security Options
  -In the right pane, double-click on "Interactive logon: do not display the last."

  -Click on active and then OK

  I spent 2 hours looking for options, but I can't find those that match what you want (or any way to actually change the style if Logon Studio doesn't do the trick.  I checked the registry to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesSystem\\\ entries, but could find no option to create the image that you are looking for (even if it can adjust the style of the screen in different ways).  If you decide to try this, make sure you first create a restore point and back up the registry just in case.

  I'm sorry, but I can't find what you want and I don't honestly think that it is available, even if a 3rd party product.
