Change the cpu count parameter in spfile

Hi all

I need to change the count parameter CPU in spfile in a production database, as we intend to add a processor on the server

Since this is a static setting. I believe that DB bounce is required

sqlplus / as sysdba

SQL > alter system set cpu_count = 3 scope = spfile

modified system.

And then bounce the DB to apply changes in the MS file.

Can anyone confirm that this is the right way to do it?

(or) should we create pfile and then manually change (number of CPUs) and then use pfile at startup and then create spfile and bounce the database again to make the changes

Thank you

Mandine

Unless you want to restrict an instance to use only a subset of the available processors (called 'instance caging', part of the Resource Manager) you can leave the number of processors in the area by default. But anyway, it's a dynamic parameter, so you can change any time:

orclz >

orclz > sho parameter cpu_count;

VALUE OF TYPE NAME

------------------------------------ ----------- --------------------

cpu_count integer 4

orclz > alter system set cpu_count = 2;

Modified system.

orclz > sho parameter cpu_count;

VALUE OF TYPE NAME

------------------------------------ ----------- --------------------

cpu_count integer 2

Therefore, replace the fan with a new and new thermal interface materials.

Check the time against the maximum allowed for your CPU. Temperatures 10 degrees cooler (in degrees C) thean max when you run a game requiring high graphics so stop worrying.

  • Is it possible to change the CPU on Satellite U300?

    Hi all

is it possible to change the CPU processing and upgrading on a Satellite U300?
I know that the chipset can support more than one processor (Intel GM965).

    Thank you

Generally parts such as processor or graphics card are not extensible for different reasons.
The GPU is not extensible because it s welded on the map.
The CPU needs to be replaced not because the BIOS could not support it and better CPU performance could lead to overheating of the questions.

But why you want to upgrade the processor?
All first you notice no performance gain, and then you could void your warranty validity.

I think it s not not interesting to try these upgrades.

  • Satellite A100-756: no option in the BIOS to change the CPU usage

    Hi guys,.

recently bought a satellite A100-756 laptop with core duo of intel clocked at 1.86 Ghz. When you look in the BIOS (version 2.00) the only options allotted to me is to dynamically the CPU frequency mode are 'always low, or dynamically switchable. There is no option to set the processor to operate at "still high". my friend who has a 2 years old satellite said that, on its model, there is the possibility to "still high".

Toshiba HWSetup also lists only the mode options for dynamic as either «always low or dynamically switchable» cpu frequency I was wondering if anyone has done to put the option to always high, or if there is an update the Bios or software Toshiba that would allow this option for 'high alyways?

    Congratulations for all help people!

    Hello

As you may knew that the Toshiba Power Saver tool is preinstalled on most Toshiba laptops.
This tool allows to change the CPU, the speed of processing, cooling method, using standby and hibernation, etc.

To change the speed of the CPU or the cooling method, you will need to enter the energy saver, then select the basic settings tab.

PS: All these settings can be configured for a different power profiles. Therefore, you must configure the settings of the profile that you will use for most of the time.

You should not have a problem if you only change the CPU. However, if you change too many things at the same time, which could cause an activation problem.

Suggest that to create a backup Image before you start. The Image can be used to roll back the OS at a time before, when changes have been made.

Yes, you can reinstall Windows 7 OEM System Builder License on the new hard drive with the new processor.

It will not be a problem in this case, since you don't "move" installation, you are doing a new installation. The less it will take is activation of the phone, as you change the hard drive:

How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)

    1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4

    (2) press the ENTER"" key.

    (3) select your "country" in the list.

    (4) choose the option "activate phone".

    (5) stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.

    (6) explain your problem clearly to the support person.

  • cannot change the loan only parameter in the file properties.

I tried to edit a photo that I have previously loaded to my laptop but it gave me an error message saying "this photo have not been modified. This file can be a read-only or that you are not allowed to save photos to the location."  I finally understand where that height was and it is actually extracted a single reading file but when I go to uncheck and apply and save and exit, he goes right to read-only.  This has never happened before, I edited the images of this album in recent weeks. Help

You must grant you full rights and perhaps even to take possession of the file and, possibly, its parent company or folders to remove the read-only attribute.  Here are some tips that can help you:

To view your permissions, right-click on the file/folder, click Properties, and check the Security tab.  Check the permissions you have by clicking on your user name (or group of users).  Here are the types of permissions, you may have:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/What-are-permissions.  You must be an administrator or owner to change the permissions (and sometimes, being an administrator or even an owner is not sufficient - there are ways to block access (even if a smart administrator knows these ways and can move them - but usually should not because they did not have access, usually for a very good reason).)  Here's how to change the permissions of folder under Vista:http://www.online-tech-tips.com/windows-vista/set-file-folder-permissions-vista/. To add take and the issuance of right of permissions and ownership in the right click menu (which will make it faster to get once it is configured), see the following article:http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/05/21/take-and-grant-full-control-permissions-and-ownership-in-windows-7-or-vista-right-click-menu/.

To solve this problem with folders, folders takeownership or the reader (as an administrator) and give you all the rights.  Right-click on the folder/drive, click Properties, click the Security tab and click on advanced and then click the owner tab.  Click on edit, and then click the name of the person you want to give to the property (you may need to add if it is not there--or maybe yourself). If you want that it applies to subfolders and files in this folder/drive, then check the box to replace the owner of subcontainers and objects, and click OK.  Back and now there is a new owner for files and folders/player who can change the required permissions.  Here is more information on the ownership of a file or a folder:http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/67717-take-ownership-file.html. To add take ownership in the menu of the right click (which will make it faster to get once it is configured), see the following article:http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/add-take-ownership-to-explorer-right-click-menu-in-vista/.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • HP Pavilion G6 (1207sg): change the CPU will also apply its iGPU in the system?

    Hello

I have a laptop HP G6 and want to upgrade his CPU (i3 - 2330 m with HD 3000 iGPU) in an i3 - 3110 m with HD 4000. I did check the socket (rPGA988B) and it doesn't seem to be compatible.

This change will also properly implant the new iGPU, or are there other factors that I might have to keep in mind?

    Thanks in advance!

The factor that you should keep in mind is the motherboard chipset and repair of HP:

List of cpu to the chipset HM65

    Your repair manuals

No source supported the idea that you can install a processor i3 - 3110M. It won't work if you try it. The video is part of the limiting factors that prevent your upgrade to generation processors 3rd with HD4000 video. The video material is in the processor and also on the motherboard and they have to work together.

You don't have the choice of some top processors, but they are all 2d gen not 3rd gen and will have video HD3000 I can understand why you want to update, but just, it is not going to happen. If you think that you cannot run Windows 10 on this machine is not necessarily the case. Many sites say HD3000 unsupported, but if you look around on google a bit you will find workarounds.

  • How can I change the CPU, motherboard and upgraded to Windows 7 while keeping the old HD and all data on hard drive?

I am running a Pentium Q9300 with Windows Vista. I have change my mother and put card at level of CPU of AMD Phenom II X 4 965. I bought a new copy of Windows 7. I need to update all those things while maintaining the old hard drive. Well, I don't know how to do it without other wipe the HD, fitness with an upgrade of the OS, or a link is not my new Windows 7 to my old hardware configuration. I need to keep all programs, files, folders, and data I have on the hard drive.

How can I do all three and the link to my new Windows 7 for my new hardware?

    Hello

    You can not do

the old hard disk contains the drivers for the motherboard that is old and in all likelihood will not start when it is installed with the new motherboard

a clean install is normally required when changing motherboards

    __________________________________________________________

and I think that you should also read this on the granting of licences and motherboards:

If you have a license to OEM preinstalled, DELL, HP, etc any update at the Board level or changes must be done jointly with the computer manufacturer

an OEM license is linked to the original tho hardware it is installed on this computer life

When the computer dies the license dies with him, unless the manufacturer is willing to help you

If you have a retail license and reactivation problems:

    1. click on start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4

    2. press enter on your keyboard

    3. Select your country.

    4. take the phone activation option and brace yourself for a real person instead of the automatic fast process

  • Suspended-> Snapshot-> change the CPU-> restore-> error?

    Hi all

    ESXi 4.0. Windows 2003 64-bit.

    A user has done this:

    1 suspend a virtual machine

    2 take a snapshot

    3. Add the 1 to 3 vCPU

    4. the virtual machine works ok. But somehow the user wants to restore it back.

    5. then, to restore the snapshot to the previous state and received the error:

The features supported by the processor in this machine are distinguished by the features supported by the processors of the computer on which the checkpoint was saved. Try to take the snapshot on a computer where processors have the same characteristics.

As far as I know, this error occurs only if move us the VM incompatible host, but we did move any virtual machine.

Is there something we can do to correct the problem?

    Thank you.

You must add/change vCPU for an engine off the coast of the VM, not a suspension.

Or have the permit for adding (and, of course, an operating system).

  • Need to change the settings vmx CPU-mask on the fly

    vmx_parameter.png

In a migration scenario that I need to change the CPU mask without a chance to turn off virtual machines for the changes.
Is it possible to do without crashing it?

I do not have the exact settings, but I can give them later.
At the moment all the tips are welcome

It's advanced vCenter (set to false).
Administration--> vCenter Server Settings--> Advanced settings

    Here's the brutal approach;

    config.migrate.test.CpuCompatibleWithHost
-With this setting, all the stable related to CPU compatibility throughout the vCenter Server is disabled.  If you have ESX/ESXi hosts on different hardware, will not be tested the CPU compatibility, and this could have implications serious impacts on virtual machines.

But you might want to watch using the following instead.

    config.migrate.test.CpuCompatibleMonitorSupport
-Including the value of this parameter, then 'version of the product does not support functions' errors will be removed, but other errors of CPU compatibility will be still tested for.

    config.migrate.test.CpuCompatibleError
-The value of this parameter, then CPU compatibility warnings is still displayed in the migration wizard, but they do not block the migration.

    See you soon,.
