Change the icons in the Sierra

Does anyone know how do to change the icons in the Sierra of the old way of cut and paste in the information windows no longer works.

When I try to copy and paste an icon of a file or folder in the right Info Panel icon. it sticks just a generic icon there.

But what always works for me, is to open an image in the Preview file and select the part of the image I want to use as icon custom, copy the selection into the clip Panel, then paste it into the icon well of Info Panel to another file or a folder that will change the icon to elements that are not protected by the protection of the integrity of the system.

But generally, I use iconStix to assign a custom for files and Folders icon.  iconStix has just been updated for Sierra and it is quite easy to combine the icons in the application and assign to files and folders.

After you have created the icon of iconStix use the command "file > attach Custom Item", then select the item in the file picker.

  • How to change the icon of an extra folder in the sidebar?

I just downloaded Sierra, I have a mac mini and I want to change the icon of a folder that I created, I already changed it, but in the sidebar, there is no icon, so I need help to change to the icon I want.

If you had already created a folder named & then hung out in the

Docking station, a change in this file might have to replace one in the Dock; so

If this is the case, do drag the earlier version of Dock, replace with new.

Of course, when you drag the icon of the old dock, it will go "poof!"

    {Are you referring to the dock as a 'side bar' on the desktop?}

Files and web links, etc. can be slid in the side bar (Dock)?

on the side of the bulkhead the nearest trash. Only applications or utilities

can be moved to the other side.

Here is an example of a file with a custom icon to the dock, put in place to

be considered a list, arranged by name; used to launch additional items that

otherwise could not fit well on the dock. There are also the Alias of elements:

The alias or the symbiotic relationship that you create in the Dock is always based on the presence

the original (a custom, etc folder) or on the icon element can become a '? Mark '

or blank if the original is no longer available. I put the original in my user folder.

If you already know how to copy a new icon to a folder (else, etc.)

    or make a new graphic icon and paste it into the folder to replace original;

so if I understand this issue, the rest should be easy.

Unless you try to accomplish something else...!

  • Can't change language after OS upgrade of the Sierra

    Hello world

After the upgrade of the Sierra, my MacBook Pro has decided to return to the French.

Now, I am unable to change the language on the menus and dialog boxes.

I tried to put the English in language and text preferences, same problem.

I also tried to run sudo languagesetup, same problem.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

    See you soon!

Language changes are not applied immediately to the running applications, but they should be applied to the applications that you start after the change is made. Changes to the Finder will apply if you raise, or to do it easily, just log out and back in.

Log out and back in? Or restart your mac? If you didn't do it and let us know.

  • Change the sounds in Sierra?

Hello good people who hopefully know more than me on these things:

In operating system, we could change the sounds of trash going to Finder & to find your way to coreaudio, etc., but now it seems that one cannot add or remove sounds in or out of this folder.

I do something wrong or Apple has indeed taken something away from us once again (for example, the ablity to customize certain sounds)?

Please if anyone has figured this out in the new system, help a brother.

Also would like to change the sounds iMesage & error as well on the Sierra, if you know the trick!

    Thank you very much!

So I solved my problem by simply reminding you must clear the SIP first, then you can access and modify all that many good things to the desire of the heart of yer.

  • Is it possible to change the new ugly background when I wake my iMac to sleep in the Sierra?

My iMac is password protected. When I wake from slumber in the Sierra again, he has a new ugly, indefinable experience. Is it possible that I can change this?

Open System Preferences > desktop and screensaver and select the Desktop tab.

You can change the background photo from there.

  • Apple changed something in the Sierra preview

I used to be able to open a .pdf file, sign it and add text to some other fields, save it, and then reopen it in Adobe Acrobat in order to ensure that the information has been saved. Send it to a contractor and had no problem to read information, but now after the installation of macOS Sierra it won't save not right, and the contractor can't see all of the fields that I've entered the information on.

Now, I have to go back to the printing of the documents, complete rescan manually, and they are sent by e-mail. A big waste of time.

    Something has changed.

Since the switch to the Sierra, using Quick Look to view the PDF files (it is when you click on a file in the Finder and press the space bar for an overview) all fields appear empty.

Then when you use Preview (version 9.0) to view and edit pdf fields, any field you click on edit is blocked immediately with a double "shadow" of the text, so you don't see what you are editing.  When the pdf file is saved, other applications like Adobe Reader see the fields as empty, unless you click the field, and then you can see one at a time.

I used the feedback Wizard Apple to bring this issue to Apple.  If all goes well they will see the problem and fix it.

I use Preview in OS Lion to fill pdf forms for the moment.   And keep on improving my MacBook Air to Sierra for awhile.

  • How do I change of grammar and spelling to British English in the Sierra of the OS?

    Hello.

I've updated my MacBook Air of 2014 at the latest version of macOS Sierra, and I found after this each time I typed something British there would be a red line underneath. I tried to change the main language in system preferences and it did not work. Whenever I see this red line I must click on grammar and spelling and fix manually.

Is it possible to fix this permanently?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Can I change the text in the pop-up window that appears when I hover over an icon to the toolbar?

There are three icons of the toolbar I need to change the popup text.
    They are:

"Window or close the open tab".
"Close all tabs but the selected one.
    "Close all tabs".

I would like to know where this text is stored so that I am able to change my wording preferred, such as:

    "Close this tab".
    "Close other tabs".
"Close all Tabs" - OK, the last one is great!

Thanks for any help you can give.

    OK, I found the text.

The text is called the "tooltip" and it is an extension called "buttons of the toolbar.

The file is called "button.dtd" and is located in the buttons.xpi toolbar / chrome / button.jar / local / en - us.

I edited the text, replace the .dtd file in button.jar, updated the button.jar file in the as file and reinstalled.

Now my ToolTips, look like I want to.

    Hope this helps others.

  • Change the preview image of audio files (no icon) in the Finder?

I know that this is easily done in iTunes, simply by changing the 'work' of the song.

But I need to do it outside of iTunes, and I need to change the preview image and not the image of the icon.

Many tutorials show how to easily change the icon of a file, but I found nothing on the change in the preview...

As said, I need to do it in the Finder, or perhaps with Quicktime? I don't know how I can use it, if necessary.

I need to have the work I want already in the file before you import it into iTunes, regardless of the reason for which I won't get into that.

You can use a tag editor to third party such as Meta-z for the files to m4a format.  I would recommend the Rage of free media now, but I can't find a download link works.

  • How is the best way to change the label of an icon on the home screen

When I place an icon on the home screen I want to change the label, I wish it were.

I don't see in an integrated way to do this.

You can name a bookmark all you want, but when you a site now pressure on the home screen and click on Edit, bookmarks are not always suggested as matches. The only way I can assure you that a referenced site is listed is to add some unique characters for the name of the bookmark that don't arise in the history of this site. Of course, this is taking away total control...

  • When I place an icon on the home screen, can I change the label?

When I place an icon on the home screen using firefox for android on my tablet from Samsung, the label is inserted for me. How can I change

The easiest way is probably in bookmarks the page that you are willing to have the icon and by changing the name of the bookmark by pressing on long, long press again to add it to your screen.

  • How can I change the color of the icons of navigation buttons?

I was wondering if there are modules or mods for 25 of Firefox that would allow me to change the color of the icons on the navigation buttons.

I think along the lines of the old style where the buttons next and previous lit up green reloading, in blue, stop at home with a mixture of yellow and white, and red when, they are clickable.

I find with Firefox 25, I get light when gray grey and dark grey when active, I think is a little hard to tell at a glance. I prefer the colour keys and hoped there was an add-on that would allow me to change this in Firefox 25.

You will need to search the site of Mozilla Add-ons to see if you can find a theme with colors that suites you.
