change the router WEP to wpa

How can I change my wep to a wpa key

type 192.168.0.1 in the URL bar of your browser (if it does not, type 192.168.1.1) and click on enter. Your router wireless page will appear. Connect to your router using your user name and password that you set them when configuring the router (user name is admin, unless you changed it). The settings you change will be in the settings or wireless settings menus, but it's different for several routers, so you will need to explore the menus. teengeek.freehostingcloud.com Microsoft community contributor

    Hello

    I just bought a Toshiba (? 2002) Portégé 2010: PIII 866 MHz/XP... Part number: PP201E-00GPP-EN. support for the Wi - fi network: 802. 11 b

When I try to connect to the internet using my sky router (WPA / PSK) my Toshiba does not connect because it asks for the WEP.
I tried to change it on Assistant, but that's it or turn it off.

I have only one option is to change the router WEP, but I heard it is an old and easily hackable, technology
In any case, I don't want to mess with my router, another PC wireless and my playstation.
I looked on update of the driver toshiba but that did not work.

Does anyone know if there is a updated for my lapptop driver or do I have to buy a USB product?

    Thanking you

    Hello

Maybe the internal WLan card does not support the newer WPA encryption but only the WEP key.

The fact is that encryption is hardware related. This means that an update of the driver will not help you. If the hardware does not support WPA, then you need to replace the WLan card or buy a USB WiFi dongle that supports WPA.

I have thin external USB WLAN key is the easiest solution

    Hi @c13pan,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I see that you are unable to get your HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 4645 e-all-in-one printer connected to the new router. I'd be happy to help you and don't forget to come back to this thread and check "Accept as Solution", if I have successfully helped solve you the problem. If you want to say 'Thank you' to my effort to help, click on the "thumbs up" to give me a Kudos.

I understand that this can be frustrating, we should be able to get this to work for you. Looks like the printer must hang on the old settings or trying to connect to the wrong network.

To correct this problem, try the following steps:

Restore the default settings network settings.

    1. press on the wireless button to access the menu of the status of wireless.

    2. press the button next to settings to access the settings menu wireless.

    3. select restore default settings.

4 confirm the selection to restore the default values.

    • Before you reconfigure the wireless, make sure that the SSID is not hidden.
    • If you have a dual band router, rename the network 5.0 GHz and the name of the network is unique.
    • Make sure your computer is on the 2.4 GHz network when you try to reconfigure the wireless.

To confirm you are on the same network and the password is correct, please use the printing and scanning doctor.

HP provides a free tool called HP Print and Scan doctor to diagnose and troubleshoot printing and scanning. Download and run printing HP and doctor Scan quickly and automatically multitask resolution of known issues for this problem. When you click this link, HP Print and Scan Doctor is downloaded using the download of your Internet browser capabilities.
  • WRT54GS - problem with changing the router IP

Here's my problem: I want to change the IP Address of the router (and subnet) to 192.168.1.1 to (for example) 192.168.28.1 (long story).  I can do it on the base of the router configuration page.

I have a desktop with a fixed address configuration: 192.168.28.90, subnet mask 255.255.255.0, default gateway and preferred DNS server: 192.168.28.1.  Three laptops get dhcp addresses.

Access to Internet is fine, but local communications on the local network no longer work: shared folders are not accessible, and I can not ping to one local PC to another. (But I can ping anything on the web)

When I'm back at 192.168.1.1 all is well again.

Someone at - it includes what is the problem?

    Thank you.

It is most likely a problem of computer software firewall.

To resolve the issue, reset the router to 192.168.28.1, then power cycle your network, verify that your Internet connection works on all computers.  Then go into the computer on each computer software firewall and set it to "trust", other computers on your network.

can you please help me if I makeover anything in my setup?

    Hello

Can you please make sure you have a value of bandwidth on ALL your BGP peering physical interfaces? And you can also include the running-config 'router bgp XXXX' out of R1 as you have not understood what we (others are). Just to make sure that you have "bgp dmzlink-bw' configured on all peerings and overall in the process - it will still show in the output of the same community if it does not work on it.

  • Change the authentication of card network from WEP to WPA 2

I have the WNDR3400v2 of Netgear router. I have a laptop with win 7 and another on Windows 8. I have Time Warner cable internet service.
Currently I use a security key WEP with it as advised by netgear support in the early stages of the installation after the purchase of the unit. I realize that the key WPA2 is stronger than the WEP key. I should have told this by the customer and must have helped with WAP2 key features. But now I'm with WEP security key.
I intend to change the current WEP WPA 2 security key.  After going to the settings of the router on www.routerlogin.net, I changed the security to WPA2 key
After removing the netoworks previous, I added network manually in Control Panel of Windows 7 (add notwork wireless) and I tried to follow the instructions, I can see the network in the list of available networks but cannot connect to it. Radio message Intel says failed to connect with the DHCP server. Wired internet connection works fine, but no wireless connection. I'd appreciate any help on this matter.

I was able to reset the router if you plant. After that, the parameters have been a piece of cake. Thank you very much for the help in this regard. I don't know why he did not cooperate before you restore it. In any case I appreciate it. Thank you.

  • Printers HP B110a cannot communicate with the laptop, but both will be connected to the router?

OK, here's an interesting problem that has been banging my brain for hours, one of my friends has a HP Photosmart all in one printer B110a. Now I can get the printer to connect to the wireless router, no problem. Can I also have the phone to connect to the router, the problem is that the printer cannot communicate with the laptop. The router brand and model is the Linksys wrt54g

Now, I took my friends laptop home and tried to see if she could detect my wireless printer model different on my router which is a TP WR340GD I went in devices and printers, and went to Add a printer and Add Printer wireless, it instantly detected my printer via the wireless network. There is no problem on the side of the laptop. I am sure that any firewall on the laptop was turned off when I tried the connected printer.

So now I have my friends printer here with me and decided to try and see if I could detect the HP Photosmart printer All In One Printer on my laptop on my TP WR340GDwireless router. Yet once, it worked perfectly and it has detected the printer and works wireless without fault.

I'm down now to the conclusion that the problem is with my friends router Linksys wrt54g I'm gone in the settings of the router, change the wireless channels, changed security between WEP and WPA/WPA2 and AES AND TKIP wireless and this does not solve the problem.

I can access to the Photosmart B110a: the Web server integrated in a browser ONLY if I have the laptop to the router physically connected by Ethernet cable when trying to access my router from a friend, but I can access through wireless on my router. The problem is probably something very simple that I forgot, but I was more all I can think that I tried to reset harder than the printer cleaned the network settings on the printer as well from the display of the printer menu.

I'm really lost now, someone at - it suggestions?

Hey pcwizard, ok, I checked the router settings and Mac filtering turned on, so I decided to reset the router, it restored to factory settings. Re-Setup wireless and once again I tried, still had no luck with the laptop to communicate with the printer.

in any case, I decided to connect the cable from the printer to the laptop and took the USB to wireless Assistant. As I reinstalled it the printer using the wired method.

He told me that the rules of traffic incoming and outgoing firewall stopped communication between devices and assign port numbers 427-9000 etc.. However, I had turned off all firewall, Windows and Norton 360, which since then, I've replaced with a better anti-virus software.

I went into the settings of the router, port forwarded the application numbers, tried again and is again no luck. I'm usually pretty good with computers, but it was really annoying me. So I went and had a coffee and a brainwave came and I decided to see if my laptop could detect and connect the printer to the router. As soon as I tried it, he finds and the printer has detected immediately.

Then I thought there must be something on my laptop to friends who may be at the origin of the problem, when I looked, I noticed that my friend had the old software Vodafone Mobile Broadband running in the background which was connected to the router.

So I closed and turn it off and tried again adding printer. SUCCESS now detects it and the printer is now communicate and respond with the laptop. I'm guessing that the Vodafone Mobile Broadband have a built-in firewall blocking the communication. However it is strange because it worked without problem on my printer at home, so I wonder if some how blacklisted broadband Vodafone IP address of the printer at a time on their router.

I'm so happy, it's finally done, a lot of hours and work, and after all this time it was * beep * Vodafone.

in any case Pcwizard I thank very much for trying to help, no doubt has given me a few ideas.

    Thanks again!

  • RE1000 cannot find the router

    Hello

I bought a couple of RD1000s at the flea market. I have a "deadspot" or two in my apartment and I was hoping to alleviate this problem.

    Updated the Firmware v1.0.02.

Adjusted the default namespace and admin passwords.

Configuration manual connection using WPA2/WPA mixed with band select Auto.

They seem to be in perfect condition except neither of the RE1000s can see my wireless router!

My router is a Netgear CG3700EMR provided by my ISP.

I can see both of the RE1000s of my Mac and my PC, as well as signals of 2.4 and 5 Ghz Wi - Fi my router.

When I get a list of Wi - Fi networks available on the RE1000 page, I get a list of the variable content of betweenn 6 and 11 networks available, of which none are mine. The content of the list seems to change after each update as some of the more remote routers disappear and are replaced by other distant routers. My router does not appear.

The RE1000s can not see my router at all ranges from 2 meters to 30 meters - I checked from many different sources of energy.

I'm a bit puzzled, so all the intelligent comments are welcome.

    Philippe

Problem solved by trial and error.

The router is configured as an iPhone, iPad, Android device, a Mac and a PC Win7 (Linksys WMP600N) and a Blackberry can see it. For reasons of space, I'm at Channel 13.

However, it seems that the channel must be set to 1 initially for the RE1000 find the router.

After setting the router to channel 1, I was able to connect the devices. Later, I changed the router to channel 8 (the current less crowded) and everything went on very well.

  • How to change the security settings on a wireless network

I would change the existing network security settings to WPA2, AES, or at least from TKIP AES.

I am familiar with access via browser to the router and how to change the settings of the router.

My question is how to make this as painless as possible for the network.  Step by step would be great

First of all, I guess I have to change the settings of the router using the computer running Easy Link Advisor?

Do I then have to disconnect/reconnect this computer?

Do I have to unplug all the other computers and then sign in again with the update settings?

The change of security settings affect my print server?  If so, I put up from scratch in ELA?

For the record, I have a WRT 300N and the print server is a 54g.

Anyone who reads this can also focus on recent news.  Maybe not a big deal, but a WPA/TKIP vulnerabilities has been identified.

Thanks in advance to anyone who responds.

If you change the router's wireless security settings, it will affect all devices that connect wireless to the router. To change the settings, simply set until you want on the web interface of the router. Save the settings. You need not link to that Advisor. Direct access to the web interface of the router is sufficient and preferable.

All devices configured to connect to this network should ask if they connect more. It depends on type of what you had before. If you have not used WPA2 or WPA before having to ask for the password. If you used the WPA or WPA2 with the same password that they cannot even ask the password. How it works in detail with a specific wireless device depends on the device and the software you use. Some devices may require you to first remove the network wireless in the list of "preferred networks" and then reconnect.

Check the manual of the print server how to configure for the new security settings. You should be able to reconfigure the print server through a web interface. First, it is probably best to change the settings on the print server and then make the change on the router. Otherwise, you may have a hard time, connection to the print server to make the change. In addition, depending on how old the print server is that it cannot even support WPA2 and AES.

  • WNR2000v4 continues to change the internal ip address

    Hello

For some time, I have a strange problem with my WNR2000v4. time to time the Exchange Router ip address internal of himself. The standard/default ip address is 192.168.1.1, but for some reason any change the router to 10.0.0.1. According to the notice, it is because of problems with my internet provider. If this happens, I have to manually change again to the correct internal ip address.

My setup is very simple, the internet signal is coming in my house received by my modem (ubee) and then it is given to the netgear WNR2000v4 model. I do not know the ip address of the modem or how it works, but my external ip address is in the 94.*. *. * range. So it seems to me that there must be no problem at all.

    Kind regards

    Hi Andy,.

I have some additional information on this topic from my ISP community. This is a rough translation with google translate, I hope you understand.

This apparently "strange phenomenon" can be explained. What I can say at this stage, is that the two parties have no guilt here. This is due to two requirements that a manufacturer must meet when NAT is used with the product. See https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc4787#section-4.4 for more details.

Why you can see that a reset of the modem, it is because the modem RF interface is not yet connected to the CMTS. Therefore, the DHCP server on the modem itself is active until there is a link with the CMTS. The router WAN interface detects a link down / event and then again try to obtain an IP address. Router WAN interface will then receive a private at this time, IP from the modem of the same sequence, which is then used in your router. The modem doesn't know that your router uses internally the same private IP range. Clearly, this is a problem and set up your router correctly responds by himself with another range of IP private. Why the DHCP server on the modem is active when there is no connection with the CMTS? Because you still can connect to the management interface of the modem.

Manufacturer must implement one of the following two things to make it work.

All traffic between internal / exterene correct translation and transfer customers. It is difficult because you need a solution like Session Traversal utilities for NAT server. If two clients are the same ISP that makes double NAT, you also depend on the correct application of crossed NAT of the ISP router.

The second solution is automatically ensure that the internal and external IP address ranges do not overlap / are identical.

Manufacturers a logically opted for the second solution easy. How can you solve this problem permanently? If your local network for example. 192.168.0.0 network class C can be used for example. Set your router to use IP network 192.168.1.0.

I just changed the router, I am using a rating of g to the n side. However the new router is only detected at 54 Mbps.

Are there settings I can change within the computer to get the fastest transfer rate? We have another laptop that automatically goes to the faster connection.

    Hi Witchypoo,

Project to support Satellite P200-1EE doesn t N, so it does not faster than 54Mbps connect. The laptop supports only 802. 11a / g
