Change the screen resolution - do not show at the edge of the right hand of the document or the screen
I do an online courses for NSW electoral office and I can't read the right side of the issues. I use Vista business and can not find the option to display, if that's what I have to edit to change the screen resolution. I have a Benq G monitor series 19-inch LCD. This happens sometimes when I go to a bank site or the Centrelink.

Games running in lower resolution on the desktop resolution does not fill the screen
I have a laptop HP ENVY 17 TS with NVIDIA GT 740 M and Intel 4600HD graphics drivers and running Windows 7. Whenever I want to change the resolution in games at a lower resolution on the desktop resolution, the game shrinks to its view, leaving the couple of inches black bars on the edges. For example, if my the desktop resolution is 1920 x 1080 and I want to start a game in 1600 x 900, the game does not fill the screen, instead, it leaves an amount of empty space on the edges of the screen.
In order to solve this problem, I tried the following steps:
I first tried to locate the view tab in the NVIDIA Control Panel in order to define the scale/stretch in "Full screen", but my version of NVIDIA CP isn't the view tab (my NVIDIA drivers are the latest version).
Then I discovered that I should do this in the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel. My Intel HD Graphics CP has an option named "Calibration" under display > display settings and it doesn't show the option to retain display scaling that is checked by default and does not change. Also, after searching the Internet I saw that some people suggested entering the 'advanced settings' and try to make changes. When I try to enter advanced settings, under view, it says 'this screen does not support advanced settings'.
After trying without success, I tried the update driver Intel via their website, hoping that it can fix the problem. I ran the small Intel application on their Web site that identifies my chipset and offers me the latest driver for this chipset. Web site told me that the driver is installed on my computer is 10.18.10.3304, and there is an update for what is 15.33.18.64.3496 (or 10.18.10.3496). So I downloaded the file, but when I tried to run, it gave me this error message: "the drivre being installed is not validated for this computer. You can get the correct driver from the manufacturer of the computer. Setup will now exit. "that makes no sense.
After trying the above steps, I'm not able to solve the problem, and I need help from someone who really knows how to solve this problem.
Thank you.Solution (I hope)
1. choose the properties of the graphic (logo Intel) option when you right click on the desktop
2. go in view
3. go through the resolutions on the 'Resolution' and change to this resolution (do not click Apply)
4. for everyone to go to 'Scaling' at the bottom of the screen and change it to scale full screen (do not click Apply)
5. Repeat until you get back to the higher resolution (that won't let you change the scale).
6. quickly choose a few resolutions from the drop-down menu to make sure that they have changed their scale.
I had a problem with some resoultions changing the way they were, but which should solve most of the problems.

Edit event managed by this case in LabVIEW 2013 shows not specifiers of the event, Event Sources and events on screen resolution 800 x 600.
As far as I know, the list of supported resolutions is determined solely by the graphics card. It is possible that one used by the PC supports only 800 x 600 as maximum resolution, even if you plug an external monitor.
Like Dennis suggested, the recommended option would probably be to develop on another PC and only deploy an executable for the industrial PC. That's what we do with our systems (although not because of this problem, but because it makes sense. There absolutely no need to have the IDE installed in most of our systems).
Other options:
- See if you can get an update of the driver from the manufacturer to solve this problem.
- Plug a USB Monitor with its own driver.
- Try to hide the taskbar and make the smaller title bar in the hope that the bug manifests.
- Try remote access in the PC. I think that some remote access programs allow you to specify custom resolutions that are not affected by the original drivers. Remote Desktop seems to be a likely this option even if it has been awhile since I've used it.
- Check the BIOS. I saw at least one industrial PC where there was some settings in the BIOS to control the resolution, but I don't remember the details, and it was quite limited. I think that in this case, you can change the resolution, but then the image does not fill the entire screen.

screen resolution slider will not represent me to change the screen resolution
In the resolution of the screen, it only allows me to move the resolution to a higher resolution (small size) and the monitor does not change either return to the small screen. He always tells me that the monitor is not active and then when I turn it on, it still does not change or allow me to use the slider to change the resolution.
Hi Melshy169,
Check if you have updates for your graphics card (whether Windows Update or via the manufacturer's website). If you have one, upgrade and that should take care of the problem.

Change the screen resolution
Screen resolution refers to the clarity of the text and images on your screen. At higher resolutions, items appear sharper. They appear also smaller, so more items adapted to the screen. At lower resolutions, fewer items adapted to the screen, but they are larger and easier to see. At very low resolutions, however, images may have serrated edges.
See you soon.

Windows 7 has changed after the Automatic Updates - screen resolution may not change back
Last night was automatic updates from Microsoft. Today, the resolution of the screen and the icons are huge. Tried to change the resolution of the screen through Control Panel but can not find the same as before. I tried to adjust the zoom level on Chrome but now everything is long and lean.
Tried to do a system restore, but it has a red x next to it and will let me not turn it on. How to restore my resolution wallpapers and icons to their previous size etc?
Completely, remove the current (or software) driver and install the latest driver available. My Roxio VHS TO DVD movie editing program has worked on my laptop Toshiba Windows 7 system before I reformatted. Now when I open Roxio it changes the screen resolution of 256 colors at a very low resolution b and the program will not work. When I close the program Roxio the resolution of the screen reverts back to 256 colors. Control of program compatibility tells that it's incompatible, but the program worked on my system before I reformatted.

I know this is an old thread, but I came across it looking for a solution to the same problem. It turns out that my problem has a cause simple and simple solution. I had accidentally pressed the "multiple displays" function key on my keyboard (F4 on my HP Envy) and therefore affect my screen out of two monitors without realizing it. I started getting the error "the screen resolution is too low for this application to run", came here, tried to change my resolution screen and then realized what I had done. Once I changed the key function to the PC only, the problem has been resolved.

Why I can not change the resolution of the screen on the comments?
Greetings,
I used VMware Player to create a RHEL 5.5 on Windows 7 host. The resulting virtual machine has a screen 1440 x 900, but when I run the screen is 800 x 600. With the help of the utility comments to change the resolution of the screen only gives the choice of 800 x 600 and 640 x 400. Note that the installation of comments has been made using 'I'll install the operating system later'. If this option is not used and that the guest is installed either using the 'easy' option or the 'Advanced', this problem does not exist. Anyway, there is a big difference between a genberated of comments using the 'easy' or 'Advanced' option and the generated with the option "I will install later. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Many thanks in advance,
Nicolas
VMware tools are installed in the comments? Next to important things, they contain the video driver that allows to change the resolution.

Change the size of the resolution and the image does not change the result on the screen?
I use Photoshop CS3. I'm changing the resolution of several images that will be printed in a newspaper. So the current images are 72 dpi and really huge - for example 36 x 27 inches (size of the document), and when I change it to 300 dpi, the size of the image to reduce to about 8 x 6 inches, as I hope. But the image I see on the screen does not change. Thus, for example, when I open the image originally, it's 33% and the entire image is visible. After I change the resolution and the size of the image has changed accordingly, the image appears to be always the same and it remains at 33%. The image should not shrink on the screen because its size has been reduced? Or if she stays the same on the screen, the percentage should not change? I mean if the size of the document is now 8 x 6, it should be able to display at 100% and not to fill my whole screen... I'm so confused. Thank you...Gradded,
The "Size of the Document" of the dialog box size of the Image is just to specify the size (in inches) that your document will be printed. The ppi adjustment has nothing to do with what is displayed on your monitor. Your monitor does not care something about PPI. The monitor contains a number of pixels and after you change this setting, ppp, the monitor will always be the same number of pixels.
As long as you leave the box "Resampling" disabled, will not change the size of your image (pixel Dimensions). You won't see any change on your monitor. If you check "Resample", then the size (in pixels) of your image will change.
I hope this helps.
