change the VCS - C to VCS-e.

Y at - it can change Cisco VCs control works like a VCS motorway via an additional license?

Jens,

the license key will change from a VCS C a E but understand that VCS C holds licenses of crossing that you lose, and you will need to buy at least 5 for the VCS E. Also your licenses not traversed can be lost.

An approach that can work for you is to buy a VCS E virtual machine.

  • Numbering plan of TMS actions required when changing the VCS

    Hi all

I will be changing my exclusively H323 to SIP client only VCS dial plan. This will be done to activate the route through VCS - E and also prepare for the migration of their VC on CUCM endpoints at a later date. When I change the dial plan I'll change the end point URIs, aka Multiway and digital beaches assigned to scheduled meetings.

Can you please help me understand what I need to do to make sure that:

    1. MSD directories are updated with new endpoint aliases; and
    2. Existing meetings are moved to the new number ranges

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Telephone directories TMS should update automatically as long as they do not use a source directory manually.  You should see the telephone directory changes some time after you migrate the H323 to SIP endpoints points, depending on how often you have telephone directories to update.

A regular conference will have to be updated to reflect the change dial plan, you can simply change the Protocol that uses H323 to SIP endpoint in the settings to connect to the Conference.

  • Cisco VCS: You can change the root within the TSH Admin password?

I know you can reset password "admin" to root, by running the tsh, but you can change the 'root' password in the 'admin' tsh?

    Hi David,

No you can not change it until and unless you follow the documented procedure to reset the password using console.

However, you can go to t-root shell using the command 'tsh' and set up a new admin account, then log into the VCS GUI admin with new administrator and reset the password for the default Administrator account.

There is a default IP address. You will need to go through the console in VMware, log in as admin. the default password is most likely to be TANDBERG, and then run the wizard to change the password and set an IP address.

  • TMS server and control the VCS

    Hello

We have a customer's request if they can change the usename (admin) of control VCS in the TMS server. They don't want to purge the VCS of TMS server control, because they still need all the TMS Server historical reports. Basiaclly, they won't use the username: admin more to managing TMS server. They can create another account in the control of VCS with admnin rights, but how they change in the SMT server without purge from the TMS server.

In the server of TMS, the VCS control connections tab, there is a place to change the password. but no place the username change.

    TMS software version: 13.1.2

    VCS Control version: 7.0.1

Note: I noticed that this option is available on the server SMT version 14.2.

    Thank you

    Kind regards

    Chris

    Hello

Using a different name that 'admin' to manage the VCS was introduced in TMS 14.1 (CSCuc88048). Not even bleed and add will help them, I'm afraid!

Your client is upgraded if they want to use a different user name.

  • Where can I find documentation on how to get the VCS - C and VCS-E to Exchange presence information

I turned presence on my VCS - C and VCS-E, but depending on whether I am VPNed or not, I don't see the State of the presence of my side of the firewall.

I checked for x7.1 Administrator's guide, I looked in the guide of authentication devices, and I'm at a bit of a loss.

Is what I'm trying to do as possible, and if so, what do I have to do to make this work?

    I have a pretty simple setup - that works very well, could give you some ideas;

    Two VCS - Independent C (soon to be clustered) and a VCS-E;

all internal clients of the JabberVideo register with a VCS - C, and when external registers with the VCS-E (all of my users of Singapore recorded with the VCS-E).

Authentication is directly with AD and is made on the a WHAT VCS - C regardless of the user is registered with the VCS - C or the VCS-E.

PUA and presence disabled on VCS-E and activated on the VCS - C, which is used as SIP registrar.

    Authentication on VCS - e:

    Default subfield "do not check".

    Default zone "do not check".

Traversal server box "do not check".

    Authentication on VCS - C:

    Default subfield "audit powers.

    MOVI area 'audit powers.

Point final SIP registration box "treat as authenticated.

    Course customer area 'audit powers.

Authentication works well, the users cannot sign up for the VCS-E with the wrong password or user name, and presence works well too - both inside and outside.

  • Placing the VCS-E Starter Pack outside a firewall

I have what I want, it's a quick question. My client has not bought the DNI option for their VCS Starter Pack. So that means I have to assign a public IP address. In addition, the way that their firewall is set up I have to consider putting the VCS outside the firewall. Therefore, in the wild as they say. I read solutions where the VCS-E (and I guess the Starter Pack follows suit) is essentially a safety device.

I wonder if people have done this before and if anyone had any ideas on how secure (or insecure) prospective configuration is?

    -Bill

    Hi William!

Nice to see you here again, how are you?

I wouldn't recommend that. In addition, either get the DNI put it in a DMZ with a private ip address

or simply in a DMZ with a public ip address, which works very well also.

Even if you so not a real DMZ as long as you have access to the router, you might

being able only allow traffic to the ports required by an access list.

In particular, management should be blocked here, there may still be bugs in the different

components (such as the ssh server, web-server,...) or the password is hacked,...

then why keep it open to the public.

I wonder why we a VCS nonclustered needs some of these listening services on the ethernet interface (beam, empd, racon,...), but yes, this is one more reason why I don't keep without a firewall :-)

A way of conscience highly not taken in charge and not reboot and upgrade can also be

Connect to the zone as root and use the iptables linux unerlaying to allow the necessary

and block off everything else. (iptables is a firewall tool for most versions of linux)

You will find a lot of resources on internet, it was just a first success through google:

    http://edgis-security.org/operating-system-and-software/iptables-tutorial-series-01-Introduction/

Guess something more userfirendly come in X7.2, Andreas post it here:

    https://supportforums.Cisco.com/message/3653700#3653700

Another thing worth noting is that for the upcoming X7.2 release for the  VCS, we are looking at including a basic built-in firewall on the VCS  itself which could also be used to only permit access to certain  services from certain hosts or subnets. It is however not currently  certain whether or not this feature will actually make it into X7.2, so  you will just have to wait and see.

But even in this case I recommend to use a firewall, right from the start.

  • Use the VCS to CUCM composition URI

I have an external SX20 and internal jabber user

The jabber username is [email protected] / * / and the extension number is 999

I want entering through the composition by CUCM

    But the path is external SX20 > VCS-E > VCS - C > CUCM > internal jabber user

I can dial [email protected] / * /, it is successful

But can not be used [email protected] / * / composition

Can VCS the [email protected] / * / of CUCM?

Or where I put in error?

I suggest that you have a good look through the VCS of Cisco and the deployment of CUCM Guide and verify that your configuration is at least similar to that proposed to allow calls between VCS and CUCM registered endpoints.  Looks like a lot that you are missing a search rule.

If the above has not resolved your problem, I suggest you move your discussion in the section Unified Communications Applications forums at the section of telepresence , where are discussed more actively to these types of devices.

  • What client H.323 software is registered in the VCS

Hi, as Cisco Jabber client video need TMS is registered in the VCS, but I get VCSC and VCSE.

I want a client software that can be installed on my Windows laptop and join the VCSC (h.323 or SIP) for call video test.

could you please give me some suggestions? Thank you.

    Hi George,.

Yes of course. X - Lite requires no server supply work, because you make the configuration in the client itself. Jabber for telepresence requires a server of supply (such as TMS) to work, because most configuration are provided by the server and cannot be configured in the client itself, but X-Lite is different.

You can register X-Lite for VCS without having to place any other infrastructure component. I works very well here.

    I hope this helps.

It seems that VCS tries to reach something but does not give up because the maximum number of attempts has been reached.  I do not see this e-mail when calls are making even though the firewall as they should.  When the calls start to fail, I see that the foregoing repeated many times.

The VCSes are the two X7.2.2.  The call goes through an IPGW running 2.0 (1.7), which is registered in the VCS-E.  The call came from the public internet, go to an endpoint inside the firewall of the memorandum of appeal through the firewall is H.323.

    My questions are;

-This sequence of message would cause the fault of calls?

-If it's just a symptom of the real problem, which is HTTPFSM and what host name empty could he try to solve?

-The first entry shows 'W rejecting the attempt '.  'W' would be the firewall?

-There is an external Manager configured on theVCS-E, which is not reachable from the public internet.  Could the attempts by the VCS-E to reach the external trigger managing a denial of firewall that prevents to carry out calls?

    - and finally, the e-mail above sounds familiar to anyone?

    Thank you!

Don't remember seeing these messages in my logs, but now grep-ing on the current

files that I didn't want her either.

HTTP resembles something of web service, maybe your VCS try to connect to your TMS and

fails, some political or some access to the api internal, commissioning, receiver feedback...

As you already outside Director is defined but not ok, I think that's the reason.

Also fits as this sends feedback to the Manager when the call is made, which would be the case

    If it failed.

Verify that you do not have an ALG in the path, that can also be at the remote site.

VCS has a quite modern h323 signaling, what works in other directions may therefore be broken

When a vcs is in the picture.

How is the call flow? The remote site connects directly to the IPGW?

We had the feeling that everything works well ask smoother people to dial the address IP of VCS

and then use the alias of relief VCS to point to an alias on the IPGW ;-)

Please remember useful frequency responses and identify useful or correct answers.

  • Do we need to purchase the license to upgrade the VCS, VCSe and TMS?

    Hello

We need to get a new license when upgraded version of VCS, VCSe and TMS?

    Hi Kelvin,

xxx. OVA files are package files to deploy the VCS on virtualize platforms.

Release key are required to upgrade the VCS for major updates. for p. ex. upgrade of x 6 x 7 software version worm.

However for improvements minor as x7.2 to x7.2.2 these are the released hotfix version or bux fixes release and you don't need a license for this upgrade.

in any case if you your devices are less covered by valid contract you can get the license key anytime just contact cisco license team on "[email protected] / * /" and they should be able to provide the necessary license.

  • VCS - C to the VCS-E to manually start the SIP connection

I have the connection of VCS - C to VCS - E works correctly VCS - C is on the local network and VCS - E is on the demilitarized zone. I'm trying to firewall configuration that correctly based on the documentation. When I add some rules he interrupts the area SIP connection. I have to remove the rules, then restart the VCS - C to get the box to connect again. Is there a way to make the box try again the connection without having to reboot? Yes, I'm a noob to this, forgive me if the terminology is not correct.

The VCS - C must always try to connect again. Maybe its your firewall / nat between the two

    who behaves strange here.

In general, if you allow outbound communication of c with the e and the answer to

    You should be fine.

Best regards, forcing the reestabishment of the connection, you can go to the client area of course

  • TMS, VCS and Jabbber "impossible to connect to the TMS on the VCS agent".

    Dear,

We have Cisco TMS, VCSC and jabber deployment, we did before commissioning the VCSC and TMS and jabber worked well, but after the upgrade the VCSC v7.2 to jabber version 8.2 has stopped working and I can not connect more and when I go to the TMS and connect to the VCS I get "unable to connect to the TMS on the VCS agent" Please notify

What TMS version do you use?  And you are using Extension of provisioning of the TMS (TMSPE)?

Looks like you are using TMS Agent Legacy, which has been supported in VCS X7.2 and has since been removed from X8.1.  You will need to migrate to TMSPE and very probably upgrade your server TMS as well if you do not meet the minimum version.

    Cisco TMSPE 1.0 Deployment Guide

Here's the guide deployment for TMSPE 1.0, there are newer versions, but 1.0 is one that you want to migrate from legacy Agent TMS.  Once installed and migrate your data, you can then go to the most recent version, which is 1.4 (see below).
