Changed to AVG Security Essentials - WARNING showing

I removed AVG and installed Security Essentials. However, sometimes when I start the computer, a warning
will of enunciation (red) AVG is not installed and the computer is not protected.
Why he keep reference AVG when I is more like my anti-virus software. Should not refer to Security Essentials?
I use Add/Remove Programs, when I uninstalled AVG and then installed SE.
I have Windows XP.

What files are staying on the computer that are not deleted and how to clean all the AVG off your computer?

Thanks for the help.

  • How to change Microsoft Security Essentials at the request of the parameters of scanning from the command line or in a script.

Is it possible to change the parameters of the scheduled scan of the Microsoft Security Essentials from the command line or in a script?

I know that I can use the command to schedule the MpCmdRun.exe tool command line to run, but that do not change or remove the existing scheduled scan that appears in the software. Run regedit to merge into the corresponding registry keys does not work because the keys are "locked", probably by the running of MSSE program.

  • AVG free antivirus or microsoft security essentials! What is the best?

Ive got a dell inspiron 1525 and I have windows vista 32 bit. I don't know if I have to use security essentials package or avg anti-virus. I can also use the mcafee security suite. I just need some experienced or professional advice and appreciate it if someone could help me! Thank you!

Everyone has their own personal likes/dislikes to security programs!
You opened a can of worms!

And security Suites(Norton, Trend, McAfee) are just Bloatware.
They try to be everything to everyone and fail.
They also use a lot of your system resources to run.

I do not use one of them; AVG or MSE.
There are bad reports about the compatibility of the 9.0 AVG and MSE is a new kid on the block.
I'll wait and see how MSE pans.

    I use builtin Vista Firewall.

    I use Avast AV:

    http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html

Avast anti-virus is XP, Vista and Windows 7 compatible, FREE, automatic update, and a user of low resources from your computer.

And, don't have 1 (one) anti-virus installed / running on your computer at any time.

Conflicts, crash and freezing may occur if you have more than 1 (one).

    And for an Anti-malware program:

    http://www.Malwarebytes.org/MBAM.php

Malwarebytes is as its name suggests, a Malware Remover!

Download the free Version from the link above.

Download, install, upgrade and scan once a fortnight.

    Something for you to think.
Once others have also responded, weigh the pros and cons of each.

    See you soon.

  • Change the language in which Microsoft security essentials is installed

Microsoft has downloaded a version French of MSE on my PC can't I change to English?

    Hello William,.

Thanks for posting your question on the forum of the Microsoft community.

I understand you are trying to change the language in which Microsoft security essentials is installed.

I would suggest trying the following methods and check if it helps.

    Method 1:
I suggest you uninstall and reinstall Microsoft security essentials (MSE) and check.

To uninstall MSE, please follow these steps:

    a. Click Start, type appwiz.cpl in the search box start and press ENTER.
    b. right click on Microsoft Security databases and select uninstall.

Please reinstall an English version of the MSE from this link:
    Reference:
    Download Microsoft Security Essentials

If this does not help, then use method 2.

    Method 2:
Please suggestions for use of hypersquirrel replied on 16 May 2011 and check the issue.

Note: Serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. • I am trying to remove AVG Anti-virus and replace it with Microsoft Security Essentials. I have the basic Windows Defender works but don't know if it includes Security Essentials?

    Have Windows XP.

Windows Defender does not include Microsoft Security Essentials.

  • Fix - it continues to view as dangerous by security essentials

After receiving a huge update on 17/06/2012 computer started to act up.  IE 9, which was part of the update would not work, computer was slow and some programs have refused to work.   Have deleted all the programs that I could, fixed install on hp, IE9 programs would go to the homepage with time to load about 3 min.  To lock up if I tried

to access any other web site.  Tried to launch microsoft fix - it programs and get the message that they are dangerous and security essentials do not allow them to keep

run.  Now, one thing is when I installed essentials of security I noticed that windows defender who had been on the machine was not completely removed.  Shows like

installed the program and don't know how to uninstall.

    Additional information in another thread:

Second part of the problem, see post above, unable to see or download photos in live mail, cannot install adobe reader.

    Thank you

Hope someone can give me help.

    Hello

    (1) have you made changes before the start of this issue?

    (2) you receive an error message or error code?

    (3) what fix - it did you run?

    (4) update do you have installed?

I would suggest trying the following methods and check if it helps.

    Method 1:

Run the fixit from Microsoft Fixit article and if that helps.

Troubleshoot Internet Explorer to IE quick, safe and stable:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/ie_performance_and_safety/

    Method 2:

Step 1: Start in safe mode with network and check if the problem persists.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

    Step 2:

If the problem does not persist in safe mode with network then it means that the problem is with a third-party program. To resolve this issue, put the computer in a clean boot state and determine which program is causing this problem.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or Windows 7:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: once you have completed troubleshooting, try the procedure described in step 7 to reset the computer to start as usual.

    Method 3:

Try the steps in the following Microsoft article and check if it helps.

Tips for solving problems when Internet Explorer hangs or stops working:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/tips-for-solving-problems-with-Internet-Explorer

WARNING: Reset Internet Explorer settings can reset security settings or privacy settings that you have added to the list of Trusted Sites. Reset the Internet Explorer settings can also reset parental control settings. We recommend that you note these sites before you use the reset Internet Explorer settings.

In Windows XP you could uninstall Windows Defender because he considers as the application that you install in Windows Vista and Windows 7, it is part of Windows, and you couldn't unistall it. However, you may turn it off.

You also mentioned that you use Microsoft Security Essentials, if that's the case then Windows Defender must be turned off and you don't need, because Windows Defender antispyware and Microsoft Security Essentials is Anti-Spyware + Anti-Virus.

Method 4: Check out these links:

Why a few blank pages or incorrectly displayed in Internet Explorer?

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/webpages-look-incorrect-in-Internet-Explorer

Images are not displayed and a red X may appear on Web sites in Internet Explorer

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/283807

Run the troubleshooter for Internet Explorer and check.

    Hope the information is useful.

  • Satellite Pro A300: Problem with Microsoft Security Essentials

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro A300 with XP SP3 and now deleted AVG Free and installed Microsoft Security Essentialls (MSE).

The result is after installing MSE and begin my laptop cursor is stuck in the center of the screen and will not respond to the inputs of the mouse or the keyboard.

In aid of F12 to get my startup options allowed me to try the Safe Mode and last known good Configuration etc but they all show the same functionality, IE freeze when the desktop appears. XP seems to be operating in the background, for example system clock stays on time, "notice" system if its wifi singal is removed etc.

Just to make the day to try to do an OS reinstall pressing 0 to on has no effect - system just boots in XP - so I can't my recovery partition!

I have now is not a HW problem as the /kbd cursor works if I boot into a non-windows system, for example UBUNTU CD

Any suggestions welcome - such as can I download a recovery on antother PC CD and burn a recovery CD?

    Hello

I have no idea what happened after installing Microsoft Security Essentials, but it seems that you are not able to access the files on the HARD drive
I think you need to reinstall the operating system using HARD drive recovery.
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/Ann.jspa?annID=58

But this would format the system partition :(

In order to save the files from the HARD drive, I recommend using / boot from a bootable floppy from Win PE.
Win PE (also called BartPE) is a thin window OS that is bootable CD and don t need to be installed on the HARD drive.

    Hello

    1. which version of the Windows operating system is installed on the computer?

    2. What is the exact name of the security program that you have installed?

    3. were you able to install the program of security without any problem?

If security program installed with no problem, then the program will have its own settings or it will appear in the lower right of the screen. You will be able to check the settings and make changes according to your needs from there.

If you use Windows 7, then I suggest you to go through the steps mentioned in the link and the Coachman.
