Check disk freezes on stage 5? HARD disk errors?

Hello

I am sure that my HARD drive has errors on this subject and needs a good Defrag.

When you perform a check disk with bad sectors recovery option, it always freezes just after starting step 5.

Without the check be able to complete the errors that I don't think are cannot be fixed properly.

How can I get it to end?

Thank you

Try running a HDD diagnostic of the manufacturer of the drive, then Windows is running.  Most hard disk manufacturers have utility software that can boot from the CD, DVD or USB and HDD test while Windows is not running.  This software may be able to find and fix the problems - but if the problem is severe enough, then it will do no good. But it certainly won't hurt to try.

2 days ago my computer was working fine, then yesterday he wanted to run the check disk at startup upward. Now he wants to run the check disk on every restart and ends with her past in power saving mode. I've only got 1 successful start since this all started. I tried to start in safe mode but it freezes. I also tried to boot to the last known configuration but that only prompted an another disk check and ended just as vain as other attempts. Hello

    1. have you made changes on the computer recently?

    2. What is the brand and model of the computer?

    Method 1.

Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click programs, accessories principally made, right-click Guest, and then click Run as administrator.

The correct way to disable CHKDSK to start use the on command chkntfs /x switch in command prompt. The /x switch will exclude a verification by default startup car. If you have drive C: as your hard drive, then the command to disable chkdsk C: drive analysis would be:

    chkntfs /x c:

If you have 2 drives C and D, you can disable chkdsk with the command below

    chkntfs /x c: d:

    So go ahead and restart.

  • disk error hard dv6t, failure of hard drive not

I am currently working for my intermittent problems of girlfriends with his laptop HP DV6T 3100.  The unit occasionally freezes and crashes, and then retrieves and returns to normal.  Occasionally of the boots to a hard drive error.  When it does not read the hard disk, the BIOS test pass.

For a brief period he not tell the reader at all, but after I pulled the drive and put it in an external enclosure, another machine was able to read and to test the hard drive, which showed no signs of problems.  Smart function and the test was well outside, and I was able to start another machine out of the outer casing, which had none of the symptoms.

I reconnect the SATA cable, he taped down as Ive read that this model has some problems holding the SATA cable in.  I also replaced the cable a few days ago and the machine is still issues regularly do not start, or when it does, gel on what anyone who accesses the hard drive because then more a minute or two, IE: Windows Live Mail, showing recently used documents in the office, or download files from Chrome.

From what I can tell, it seems to be a problem with the hard drive on the Board controller, but I'm not familiar with how HP defines the unit upwards, or with Windows in general, as I'm an Apple guy.  Is there something else that reveal ask this question, because I don't think it's the hard drive, as it works perfectly out of the machine.  No details on this issue would be appreciated, as so far been relatively useless HP support, claiming that it is certainly a hard drive problem.

Hello romanaz1987.  I understand that you encounter some problems with the hard drive in your friend DV6T.

I share your diagnosis - which seems to be a problem with the hard disk controller.  The reason why I believe that it is only your steps of troubleshooting narrowed down the issue well enough.  The hard drive is known for work that you are able to use it in an external enclosure without problem.  In addition, the next thing I would try personally would have been reinstalling/replacing the SATA cable and you did both.  So, that leaves either the motherboard or controller hard drive as the culprit.  Unfortunately there is no way that I know to further diagnose the issue without taking the laptop to a technician.

How long have you tried using the hard drive in the enclosure?  Given that the problem is intermittent, it may be useful to use the hard drive in the enclosure for an extended period of time.  It'll still exclude strange intermittent problems with the drive.

I suggest take this laptop to a local technician, if she is no longer under warranty (you can check here).  A technician will be able to more practical tests that don't translate well on the forums.  If you are still in warranty, then you should definitely, contact HP support and let them know about the problem.  If you are in the USA / Canada, the number is 1-800-474-6836.  However, if you are in another part of the world, you need to visit HP's Support around the world to find contact information for your country.

I'm sorry you have encountered this problem, but if you have any questions feel free to ask.  Also, I hope you have a nice evening!

  • Disk error hard satellite L50-B-235

Laptop stopped recognizing Bluetooth, so restarted, but when you start it says something to check a disk and repair the hard disk, which then laptop crashed before completing. Would not start once again, it is:
1 past age on the toshiba screen then tell no boot device
2 load the login screen, then past ages in front welcome saying windows preparation and loading a temporary profile. When he made a mistake shows saying Windows detected a hard disk problem. Back up your files to prevent loss of information and then ask the computer manufacturer to determine if you need to repair or replace the disk. It will then crash after 10 to 30 minutes and the blue screen with my critical_process_died error, which restarts always shows described in 1.

I have Windows (updated 8) 10 and the laptop is less a year. I've tried various searches on google and fixes, including:
Update of system drive where Windows is is locked
Check disk either from the start menu or the command prompt in the temporary profile
Changed the boot order and then back again
    Several reboots
Open to the top of the unit and removed, then replaced the hard drive

Nothing worked, I do not have the recovery media and not really means for the moment. This could be a real hard disk problem (it heats up during boot ups) which would mean it needs to be replaced? If Yes is that these can be purchased with Windows installed on it?

While I update to windows 10 I have a probem with the use of the hard drive because he moved to the use of 100% and the laptop just crashed.

I search in the Admin Panel and I discovered that I have a service called host system: local system (private network). I tanslate it Spanish which is the language was my laptop.

Also I have a problem whit the video card because systems always use the graphic istead intel video card (AMD one). I tried to solve this problem in istalling the graphic control of AMD program, but the program doesent work better because the use of the hard drive is always more 100% and the experience of the computer laptop full length.

His old HDD, I replaced it with a new one, but nothing has changed. -What would be a problem with the SATA controller on the motherboard or is it something different?

    Hello

Smart disk error indicates failure of hard drive. You still get any ID failure?

Since you have already replaced it & not showing is not available, the probability is for the connection by defective SATA cable or SATA controllers or motherboard itself.

  • Satellite C660 - 23 M Windows 7 hard disk error

I've only had my laptop (Satellite C660 - 23M) for three months, I started to have problems with him about a week earlier, including a time Blue Screen of Death, but I got the computer Safe Mode and did a system restored and it has been fine since then. Then earlier today, I had a Windows hard drive error, telling me to back-up and then repair or replace the hard drive. The back-up goes on an external hard drive as we speak, so fingers crosssed I can't stand to lose all my data.

I created a disk backup media when I got to the laptop but every time I tried with validation, it would fail, but in time, I don't think I should be so little time, just so created a non-validated copy and thought that would be nice (I'm now concerned!).

Should I restore my hard drive? If so, how? What has caused this? And because it is only 3 months old, am I stuck with a laptop to duff who will continue to break down on me?

    Hello

In your case, I would recommend to check the capacity of the HARD drive.
This can be done using the freeware tool called disk HARD Drive Fitness Utility.
I guess that this software can help detect HARD drive errors.

If the HARD drive would be affected, then you need to replace the HARD drive.
Here you will find a nice instruction how to do this:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/Ann.jspa?annID=138

the laptop seems to be covered by the warranty, if the HARD drive can be replaced under term average conditions, this can be done free of charge
I would recommend asking the ASP (partner in your country) for this HARD drive they could send you this HDD.

    Hello

Your HARD drive is perhaps a pity
Can you see that the drive listed in the BIOS?
Are you able to reinstall the OS?

    You should first check this.
You could also test the HARD drive by using the drive fitness test tool:
    http://www.HitachiGST.com/HDD/support/download.htm

This will check the disk on some points.

But if the HARD disk is damage need you a new!

  • Portege R600 built-in HARD disk error

My Portege R600 works very well until today when he came with the built-in "Disk error" message when I turned on it. He then lists the following:

    Insert system disk in drive.
    Press any key when ready...

Can someone help with this problem?

    Hello

If you get an error of HARD drive and after that the message PXE boot, it seems that your internal HARD drive is not recognized more...

Have you already checked the BIOS if the HARD drive is it recognized?
Otherwise I think you need to replace the HARD drive :(

    Hello

Your laptop is listed as coming with a 750 GB hard drive - the drive on the following link is an example that would be perfect for your laptop.

    750 GB hard drive.

The procedure to replace the hard drive begins on Page 104 of your maintenance & Service Guide.

Once this is done, simply use your recovery DVD to reinstall the original operating system (Windows 8.1) on the new drive and then upgrade to Windows 10 once again.

A better option, as long as the previous installation of Windows 10 had activated Ok after the original 8.1 upgrade, would be to simply perform a new installation of Windows 10 as detailed in the guide on the following link.  Note: On the activation screen, select "I don't have a product key" - Windows will activate automatically once installation is complete.

I can't work if it is a scheduled task or when the laptop is out of battery when it is 'sleep'.

did someone have the same problem and if so is it possible to stop what is happening?

Looks like the hard drive is faulty. You must back up your data and create recovery disks, then test the HARD drive by using a CD bootable as Seagate Seatools for DOS.

Replace the HARD drive if it is defective and execution of recovery, then put your data.
