Checkpoint XP now all missing files/Office?

I have windows xp media edition. I restarted my computer, this screen came while I was there showing checkpoint checked my computer. She came, and everything seems as default! My icons disappeared except an empty basket, it will not restore back before the checkpoint. IE7? I can't use it because he asks me if I'm sure I want or choose another provider. It seems it's factory settings, except for a few programs that were games that I had downloaded. Where the hell are my files? I know that they are there if the games are. All my icons, my documents.music, pictures of everything... went. Someone help me please. My husbands chemo was everything in there, ontop of many many other things. Why did do a thing of checkpoint on restart? How can I find my files and original desktop? It is an old model of 5-6 years. I've never had this happen before... Thank you so much in advance.

  • I put my C:\Users\AccountName files hidden and then changed their return, but now all my files are misplaced or foires

It is a long story as to why I did it, I'll try to keep it as short as possible, but also detailed.

I tried to get my graphics card drivers (it is an AMD Radeon) updated on my Acer laptop because I had errors of lighting in several video games, but my Catalyst Control Center has stopped working whenever I opened it. So I googled many answers, found none, contacted the technical support for it, they re-installed my graphics drivers from the card for me through the Acer eRecovery Manager (since I bought the computer with the graphics card built in), but the problem persist and so I searched for answers, and told to set the file C:\Users hidden and then visible again and it should allow the CCC work properly. But when I went into c:\Users--> properties, there is no option to set it to Hidden. So, I thought since my info is in my c:\Users\AccountName file, I click with the right button on this folder and went to properties, and the option was there. So, I put THIS folder hidden and freaked out a little when everything on my desk apparently disappeared from existence. But in my panic, I went to C:\Users-->Properties again and he now give me the option set to hidden. So I did, and once it was done, I unchecked the box hidden again and all my files reappear, thank God.

However, this is my problem begins. All my files and folders that were inside the C:\Users\AccountName have been restored to be visible, but now, Google Chrome and Dropbox are unable to sync properly (and who knows what other sync accounts have stopped working?) and any where both move files or how many times I reinstall, they are still unable to sync. It seems that some of my files have been moved to places that they are not supposed to be? Dropbox has been moved somehow to C:\Users\AccountName\AppData\Roaming and to contact their support team, they said that it is not recommended because it is there. But even after the move to other places, he always did the same thing.

To describe the problem that happens in both:

    -Google Chrome:

It gives me the orange icon at the top and says I need to sign in again. She does everytime I open the browser. Once I log in, it says that my sync data is out of date or something like that. And no matter how many times I tried to solve this problem, everytime I open the browser he reconnects with the orange icon and I have to sign in again once.

    -Dropbox:

By clicking on the icon, it gives me a permissions error and says that "store your home folder on a network share can also cause this problem. And of course it has been moved somehow to AppData\Roaming without put me there. Uninstall completely and put it back in place as AppData\Roaming automatically and still will not let me move it.

So I'm not sure what is happening. I really need help with this because I use dropbox for many things, and google chrome allows me to stay connected to all the sites that I hear every day so now I will have to sign in everytime I visit which is extremely annoying. Above all, however, I am worried what other things have been affected by this problem. If you have any ideas on what is happening and how I could fix this, please let me know. Thank you.

To cancel your changes in a way simple and most effective would be to perform a restore of the system-

  • Windows 7 is installed. Now, all the files on an extra drive are 'read only '. Have you tried several proposed cures.

    Hello
I have a problem with Windows 7 I tried to solve by looking online, go to the Microsoft Windows 7 and appellant community Microsoft technical support phone line.
I have triedthe suggested online solutions and when I called Microsoft Technical Support, I was told that they thought might be the problem and I was told that if I wanted to try the remote solution, I agree to pay $99 or sign for their $49 per month. I tried what they thought resolves the problem by getting the online instructions but it did not work.
Here's the problem: I set up our desktop computer with the operating system Windows 7 (I love good Windows 7) and then installed a second hard drive with all of our documents and files in the computer.  When I try to open the files on the second hard drive, I get the message that the file is read-only.  When I try to change the attributes of the file or the folder that the file is in and then try to open the file I get the same message.
I followed a suggestion that I read online that works (set at its lowest setting user account control), but now our computer has no protection against unauthorized manipulation.
Can you tell me how I can get help for this problem?
I tried: 1. make a new account administrator 2. Using the attrib command and 3. used the digitization program to repair corrupted as the file to user profile files.

    Bill

When you right click on the files read-only, you have the "Take Ownership" option. Once you have correctly taken possession of the file, you can then change the properties of this file to remove the read-only.

  • layers removed, now all new files have pixelated bands

I was working happily away until suddenly almost all sections of my document deleted. Then I restarted photoshop, restarted computer, utility disk, disk of verified work, gave to photoshop more memory. However, the file still has white layers, and the new file that I create is pixelated and "scratched", like this:

    Screen Shot 2015-04-30 at 2.39.18 PM.png

Use Photoshop CC 2014, Mac 10.10.3. Now the file I was working was small size 100px by 100 px, but he had about 200 layers, is this a problem? Is there a sort of preference I can chuck?

Try resetting your Photoshop preferences. If that doesn't set you problems, you can have a device or hardware driver problem.  Display problems are often similar to what you posted.

    Hello

Thanks for posting the request in the Microsoft community forums!
I understand that the desktop icon change extension .lnk. Do not worry about the advice given will help you solve the problem.

    Method 1:

Try to change the association of files from the control panel.

Go to the following location to change the associated file.

    Start \Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Default Programs\Set Associations

You can access the link below and follow the instructions on how to change which programs Windows uses by default: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Change-which-programs-Windows-uses-by-default

    Method 2:
If the steps above fail then you can try the suggestions section of the knowledge base and check.

  • Portable joined to the domain and now the user files are missing.

Our server (SBS 2003) crashed and I had to rebuild it and then I had to join a laptop in our area and now all the files for this person is missing.  We use the option synchronize folders when this person was missing and now I wonder where all these files are gone?

We had no backups (I know, I know) so now we have a couple of people who have lost all their data.  Is there a way to make it back the computer joined to the domain?  Some kind of folder offline connection or cache somewhere?  I checked the documents and Settings folder, but the user profiles 'My Documents' is empty.

  • How can I see all the missing files in the 12 elements?

I have a very large catalog and there are now a few hundred missing files because of me, moving or deleting them out of the elements.

Is there a way to display only the missing files in the elements in order to be able to work through them and decide to search manually or remove them from my catalog?

    Thanks for any help

    Lee

If you are in items Organizer12, will find > all missing files

It will show you all the missing files in your catalog.

  • How to recover missing files that are still on the hard drive. iTunes and VLC Player can still read the files.

I had a restore of the system without success and now all my files (music, photos, documents, PDF files, vids, etc) are missing.  My itunes still recognizes the path to music and can play everything.  Same thing with VLC player and photos.   For example, if I go in VLC player and watch my playlist, I see that info a video is C:\Users\kevarendt\Desktop\Vids\... and the player will play the video.  However, I can't file my own.  He is no longer on my desk, where he was saved, but the path always displays it's there.  My drive is still in his usual capacity, so none of my files have been deleted.  I can't even to my user account.  All I see is a Public folder in C:\Users\.  What happened to my user account?  All the paths to my files have nothing to show, but it's still there but invisible.  How can I access it.  I use Vista Home Premium.

    Hello

I suggest you to check that the same in safe mode if you work, try to perform the clean boot

Note: After troubleshooting, be sure to set the computer to start as usual as mentioned in step 7 in the above article.

If not work then suggest to activate the hidden files and folders and then check if it works very well.

  • Images and missing files

I downloaded Microsoft 8 and didn't like it at all, so I reinstalled microsoft 7, but now all my files and photos of before the first download are missing, can I got them some how?

It depends on what you have done.  If you upgraded to Windows 7 to 8, put your junk in Windows.old.  If subsequently you formatted your hard drive and reinstalled Windows 7, the only way you could get your files back would be if you have backed up your system before you do all this.

When you got your system back as you, I invite you to buy an external hard drive, and a good backup 3rd party program. You can configure it to automatically do everything in time and frequency of your choice. External hard drives 1 TB are about $80 these days and a very good FREE backup program is the Easeus todo backup free that you can download from
http://www.todo-backup.com/products/home/free-backup-software.htm . Who can make you save a lot of time and frustration, the next time something like this happens. Sooner or later, it happens to all computers for one reason or another.

    Good luck.
