CHKDSK does not work on startup, even if it was planned.

I'm looking for some help with a problem of chkdsk. I tried to defrag my hard drive (Windows XP) using system tools like I did before.  I get the message "Disk Defragmenter has detected that Chkdsk is scheduled to run on the volume C:.  Please run Chkdsk /f."when I try to do, I get the message «the file system type is NTFS.»  Cannot lock the current drive.  Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process.  You want to schedule this volume to check the next time the system restarts? (Y/N) "if I said Y, nothing seems to change after I rebooted.  If I disable Norton antivirus protection, nothing seems to change either.  I'm afraid there can be errors on the disk that the chkdsk command cannot be correct because "the volume is used by another process."  What other 'process' this could make reference to?  Also concerned that I can't defragment.

If the hard disk is large, Chkdsk may take several minutes to several hours to complete. Give it some time

  • Win XP chkdsk /f does not work on startup

    Hello

I saw this answered for Windows 7 and Vista, but not for XP, so I'll give it a go.  I'm running a Lenovo T60 with Windows XP 32-bit SP3, all the Windows updates appropriate have been implemented and Norton 360 as my antivirus and firewall software.

When I open the command prompt and type chkdsk /f r, I get "CHKDSK cannot run because the volume is in use by another process.  You want to schedule this volume to check the next time the system restarts? O/N.  Of course I type Y and press ENTER.  The command prompt tells me that the volume will be checked when I restart the system.

If I restart the system.  And CHKDSK does not work.  Can I go back to the command prompt and repeat the above procedure, with the same result.  I can never get running CHKDSK.

Previous discussions said that it had to do with running the command as an administrator.  I am the administrator.  What I am doing wrong?  How can I run CHKDSK /f/r?

Thanks for your time and your advice.

However, if CHKDSK is scheduled to run when the computer restarts, the binary module that contains the verification code is Autochk.exe, a native Windows program. Because Autochk.exe runs early in the computer startup sequence, Autochk.exe doesn't have the benefit of virtual memory or other Win32 services.

Autochk.exe generates the same type of text output which generate the Chkdsk.exe utility DLLS. Autochk.exe displays this text during the startup process output and also logs an event in the application event log. The logged event information includes both the output of text like that can get into the event log's data buffer.

Both Autochk.exe and the verification in the Chkdsk.exe utility DLLS code are based on the same source code, the rest of this article uses the term "CHKDSK" to refer generically to Chkdsk.exe or Autochk.exe. Similarly, because this article is only about the CHKDSK changes that involve NTFS volumes, any statement that "CHKDSK does" such and such means that "CHKDSK does such and such when CHKDSK runs on an NTFS volume.

  • My laptop does not work on battery even though the indicator said there are 90% of the available power

    original title: laptop BATTERY

My laptop does not work on battery even though the indicator said there is a 90% power disponiblesLorsque it is plugged in and charging. The battery would be dead even if she says she can still exist?

    Hello

Check with support from the manufacturer of their books online and the drivers and their forums system
(as applicable) for known issues. Some manufacturer issued BIOS and other updates to help the battery
    problems.

Control Panel control - plan change Options - power plans - power - advanced settings
Parameters for the drainage and the use of parameters (this is how much to use and not how much or how)
    long to load).

In fact, what causes a lot of wear on a battery empties it too low on several occasions. With today
systems overload are not a problem.

Here are some tips to help and troubleshoot battery issues.

Old battery? Unplug the power to the computer - remove the battery and clean the contacts with a pencil
eraser (do not use this, if your battery is fine slots - just clean up the edges of the knife which fit in)
them and be careful). Batteries are old, or it could be a problem with the computer.
Check with the support of the machine system, and many of them have on line forums.

New Lithium-Ion type battery usually last longer if you do not unload then less than 30%
However on a laptop that not extend their life a lot. Best is to use the a/c adapter
    When this is possible.

I use the free version of BatteryBar to monitor my battery. Click on the green button on the

  • I have a Pavilion dv7t entertainment notebook. Bluetooth does not work on startup.

Most of the time when I put on the Bluetooth does not start. I know when he failed, because my mouse does not work. When this happens I open "devices and printers" in the control panel and the device Bluetooth showing will be the laptop itself. Now, I know I have to do a restart because the Bluetooth icon appear not in the tab "icons". If I restart normally, I can then use my Bluetooth mouse and all my Bluetooth devices will be show in devices and printers. I tried updating the driver and even roll back the driver. The last 3 days this problem has been more frequent. This morning I had to reboot 4 times to get the Bluetooth to work.

    Hello @wandrews1944 ,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I see that the Bluetooth service does not automatically start your laptop.

It would be really useful to know which product and the operating system you are using.

For more information on the search for your model and product numbers, click here: How can I find my model number or product number?
What version of Windows you are using, click here: Windows operating system am I running?

You can also try to control services on the laptop to make sure that the Bluetooth Support Service (or bthserv) is configured to start automatically, instead of manual. Start (Trigger) manual will try to detect Bluetooth devices before turning on, to prevent the service from running when it is not needed. This does not always work perfectly so if you use Bluetooth we will set it to automatic instead.

    To change Windows services:

    1. Press the Windows key + R to open the run window.
    2. Type services.msc and click OK to open the Services window.
    3. In the list of services find Bluetooth Support Service (or bthserv).
    4. Right-click on it and choose Properties.
    5. On the general tab set the drop-down list Startup type to Automatic.
    6. Click the log .
    7. Check the circle Local System account .
    8. Click OK to close the window
    9. Reboot and test.

If it still does not respond, you may need to try automatic (delayed start) to give the system more startup time before searching for Bluetooth devices.

Let me know if that helps!

  • Jet 7 Tablet 5709: HP Jet 7 touch screen does not work in Windows even if it works in the BIOS menu advanced starup

Less than two months ago, I upgraded my HP Jet Windows 7 to 10. Over time some questions popped up (random apps that could not be opened, etc.) so I decided to do a full reset, deleting the files from the user. Once the 'install' process is complete he brought me to the initial configuration for Windows 10 screen, asking me my keyboard and language preference. He would not accept any contact entry. I rebooted it and he went to the advanced configuration where I could use the touch screen to do a complete reset. That has not changed anything. I found the info on the HP website and did a reset of the BIOS. That has not changed anything. I got an OTG cable, but was not able to get a keyboard work. I did, however, get a mouse works and has managed to create a new user and login. However, the touchscreen does not work in Windows. I was able to get into the settings and looked at the Device Manager settings. There was only a mouse driver listed under Human Interface. I also noticed a number of question marks in the subtopic of the processor drivers.

I was able to use the OTG cable to try to re - install Windows 10 from a USB key. When a similar initial settings (language, keyboard) screen broke, I couldn't use the touchscreen. Later, I created a USB with Windows 8.1 thinking he might have a better chance. The same problem. He does not touch inputs. And with a key USB installed via the OTG cable, I can't launch a mouse at the same time.

It is strange that I have not the problem in the BIOS or advanced startup options. It seems that there is a corruption somewhere, but how do I fix?

    Hello Moronihah,

You did a clean install (delete all files and programs) the 2nd time you reinstalled Windows 10?

That's what you need to do first.

Then, you have to go to the HP website and install the drivers on your USB.

Above all, you need to include the Goodix Touch Controller Driver and pilot, allowing Malta G-Sensor.

    HP Software and Driver Downloads

You're using a hub 4 ports with your OTG cable? Which will allow you to use the mouse, the keyboard and the entire USB drive.

    Hello

Method 1: I suggest that you do the startup repair using the Windows Vista installation disc and check if it works.

If you have a Windows Vista installation disc, you need to restart (boot) your computer using the installation disc. If you do not restart your computer from the disk, the option to repair your computer will not appear.

    a. Insert the installation disc.

    b. restart your computer.

Click the Start button, click the arrow next to the button lock and then click on restart.

    c. If prompted, press any key to start Windows from the installation disc.

Note: If your computer is not configured to start from a CD or a DVD, see the documentation provided with your computer. You may need to change your computer's BIOS settings. For more information, see BIOS: frequently asked questions.

    d. choose your language settings, and then click Next.

    e. click on repair your computer.

    f. Select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.

    g. in the System Recovery Options menu, click Startup Repair.

See: How can I fix a startup (startup)?

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/how-do-I-fix-a-boot-startup-problem

Method 2: If above method fails, then run the command chkdsk WinRE (Windows Recovery Environment) and check if it solves the problem:

The sound says it goes (the volume mixer), but there is no sound. After you open the mixer volume a few times and it will crash every time. then the sound comes back. Is there any fixes for this? I already refreshed the PC several times and did a factory restore twice.
