  Hi all

  I recently bought an end of 2013 mac book pro and I'm having a particular problem. When I hold shift and numbers on the top row, the wrong characters are displayed. Now, I know most of you my point to the keyboard input source, or preferred language options, but I tried several times already. In addition, I tried a new install of OSX and still, the same things happen.

  Making it a little more annoying, is that my keyboard works fine in my VM Win7 on Fusion 8 on the MBP even. Weird right? Although these conditions lead me to believe it's a software problem of some sort.

  Any assistance anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.

  I understand that you have some problems with your Officejet 4635 e-all-in-one printer connection to your new router. I can help you with that.

  Special characters are located on the Star (*) and pound (#) key. If you press one of these keys they will scroll many special characters. If you make a mistake, then you can press the buttons arrow to go back a back space.

  Hold down the fn and ctrl and then tap twice on the shift to the right to turn off blue keys. Same way to activate it but use only tap on the shift to the right.

  I use a HP Pavilion DV6-3004TU laptop. I just got my Windows 7 Professional installed. When I @ using shift + 2 it shows "(quotes). It is vice versa as well, that is to say, when I type "using Shift ' it displays symbol @." So, I have problem with the hash symbol type. When I hit Shift 3 it shows £ instead of hash symbol.   It sounds like the problem of keyboard layout... It seems that your keyboard is set to English UK... to check...

  To check this, click Start, type intl.cpl in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER. On the keyboards and languages tab, click Change keyboards.

  You should see 2 inputs English (United States) and English (United Kingdom). If true, remove English (United Kingdom). Who should take care of it...

• Dell XPS 13 type special characters with keyboard

  I'm unable to type special characters with my Dell XPS 13 with Windows 8 pre-loaded. For example when you type ' ^ ' followed by 'e', you should get 'e '.

  My previous 13 XPS with Windows 7 preinstalled worked well. I loaded all the latest drivers, but the functionality is still missing. Is there a setting that needs to be turned on? Or are still missing drivers for Windows 8?

  I'm don't know if there's another compatible keyboard for NB100 but an authorized service provider can give you an answer because they have access to the spare parts of Toshiba.

  You must give them a call or write a short email. Give them your exact part of your laptop number and they can get a new keyboard.

• Visualizer of characters not listed is not in the Menu entry

  I have installed 10.11.1 on a MacPro OX. Until today, the character Viewer (now called emoji and extraordinary) appeared as I selected in the keyboard system preferences in the menu bar. Now, I can not select Viewer of characters in the menu because bar is no longer listed - there is either a white spot in the menu bar where the character Viewer icon used to be, or just the icon of US keyboard - by selecting the menu bar icon or shows just the United States keyboard choice, or 'show (null)' where ' emoji & symbol "and"keyboard"used to be.

  I always open the viewer characters within the applications via the Edit menu. And I tried several times to select the option to show the visualizer of characters from keyboard system preferences - whenever I select it again, it deselects itself when I leave preferences.

  I tried to remove some of the files preferences I found related to the keyboard/character - run repair utilities/permissions of the drive without any problems.

  Any thoughts? Thank you-

  My letter "e" on my old MacBook Pro end 2011 15' a did a little from time to time. In other words, sometimes I need to do a little more pressure to make it work.

  It's pretty boring when I write. The key answer better after I write a little and used, but still annoying. And also sometimes becomes a bit insensitive again after some time.

  I asked my local (400 km; I live in Finland) bear all the cost of the full keyboard change official, who I don't know he won't be cheap.

  Do you guys know any other solution for this problem? I mean... I guess the key under the jump of silicone connector became a bit rusty or something similar. There have for a lot of sense to me disassemble the entire computer and all of the keyboard when I just change can simply detach the key.

  I understand that one of the keys on your keyboard is not responding as expected. To continue troubleshooting, before you consider a repair, I suggest you work during the steps in the following article.

  Your keyboard has one or more of the keys that are not

  Use the keyboard Viewer to check if the keys on the keyboard respond correctly when they are pressed.

  1. Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu, and then select language & text.
  2. Select Input Sources.
  3. Check characters and keyboard Viewer.
  4. Activate the input source for the keyboard layout that you test by selecting the checkbox next to it.
  5. Make sure that "Show the menu in the menu bar" is enabled.
  6. Choose Show Keyboard Viewer in the menu in the menu bar.
  7. The viewer of keyboard showing the keyboard layout is displayed on your screen.
  8. Tap the key on the keyboard that is not answer and see if the corresponding key highlights on the keyboard Viewer. If so, this key works fine.

  Notes:

  • If mouse keys in the universal system preferences pane is activated, a lot of keys on the keyboard do respond as expected.
  • If the problem persists, try to run to the top of your Mac in single user mode see if a software problem is causing the problem.

• Preferences of the keyboard in the different Yosemite of Mavericks?

  I have a friend that I am trying to explain the various keyboard options. I have the Mavericks, and he has Yosemite. As usual everything we are discussing, he insists that everything works differently in Yosemite from how it does in the Mavericks, and I'm not convinced of that. He refuses to see my screenshots showing how to access viewers characters and keyboard, text-string substitutions, choose from a menu of alternative keyboards. He's right? This will also affect my future decision of the opportunity to jump from Mavericks still in ElCapitan on the road, so I have a personal interest in the issue as well.

  A difference is that starting with 10.10.3, Apple has changed the menu item to get the character Viewer, called Edit > special characters, Edit > Emoji & symbols.  It seems that some users of the baffles.

  'Games' are sets of predefined shortcuts, and you cannot modify them. Regarding the 'context', "Default" use your new shortcut anywhere, while 'Text', it will only work with a text cursor/selection. 'Table' there only work inside tables, 'XML' only in the XML Structure pane, etc. The obvious choice here is "text".

  If you want to add your own shortcuts, you must (a) register your game under a new name, because you cannot change the default sets and (b) ensure that what assets when you OK from the dialog box.

  My kit is a Toshiba Tecra M11 with Win 7 Enterprise, that I use with a port replicator Port Express and I just upgraded to a Lifebook Seimens, also with a cradle of home. The way I like to work is to use the laptop to connect Central company on the internet by VPN network and then use my PC at home to connect to the laptop via DRC - if I can use the screen Monitor wide and large keyboard (my job is very large Excel spreadsheets). It worked well with the Siemens and especially work with Toshiba, but for a small problem.

  After I have logged on to the network and connected to the laptop, I want to put the lid down, then put the laptop and its cradle of home from the road on a shelf. This has worked with Siemens, but whenever I have try with the Toshiba it puts the machine to sleep as soon as the cover closes and the DRC on the main PC session is suspended. The Toshiba is mounted on its cradle of home throughout this process. Computer laptop & cradle to host both the main pc are all connected by a wired connection to the same router netgear

  In the Windows power plan settings, you can choose the action to COVER closed. The default setting will stay and that is what you have described. So I recommend disabling this option for each Windows power profile.

  Otherwise, follow the instructions posted by Akuma. If you make an update of the BIOS, unplug all devices and close all running programs before doing this.

• My data all Minecraft story mode has been errased (an Xbox)

• X 301: Intel 5300 & Broadband WWAN Option card

  I just got my X 301, which came with an Intel 5300 wireless card, and I went to install the AT & T 3 G Broadband Option currently for sale in the accessory store. So, turns, the 5300 is a large-format mini PCI-Express card... So the card 3G. Yet, as far as I know, I can plug a normal map, and I guess the other location is a half size card. It is behind the door of memory. What is the best course of action I can take?

  There is a full slot wide under the keyboard. That's where it belongs. There are a few nice movies showing how to install and other parts. Half size slot is for Turbo Memory or Wireless USB.
