CISCOWORKS LMS 2.5 SP2

Hello

The apps were running smoothly, but after a suddenly cut power that affected the (stand-alone) server, it was not possible to loggin again.

We got the login screen, but after typing user/passwd, appears a blank screen (done) and nothing else.

Each process runs normally, except the process = EssMonitor = ESS Info is entirely online!

Can you guide me to solve this problem?

Thank you very much

regdaemon. XML has been damaged. It is therefore more correct XML. It was probably truncated in the feeding tube. If you don't have a good backup of LMS, you must uninstall and reinstall LMS from scratch. You will not be able to preserve your data because restore this file regdaemon.xml will corrupt so all future installations.

    Hello

Does anyone know an easy way to bulk export configurations off Ciscoworks LMS 3.2?  The only thing I found is the cli command export config u cwcli.exe - p-unit %, but it exports in XML format which is not very readable.  Prefer a text file format.  Someone at - it suggestions?

    Thank you

    Brian

    Hi Brian,.

CLI, it is the only option, but what you can do to get the files in TEXT format is, you can connect to the server and

    go to this site: NMSROOT\CSCOpx\files\rme\dcma\shadow

    and

    NMSROOT\CSCOpx\files\rme\dcma\devfiles

  • CiscoWorks LMS 4.1 monitor temperature

    Hello everyone!

I am creating a poller to monitor the trap of the temperature of my cisco catalyst 2960 Ciscoworks LMS 4.1.

I created a snmp trap on my device:

    Switch(conf-t) # snmp-server <@IP_server_LMS>SNMPv2c host -I use SNMPv2c

Switch(conf-t) # Server enable snmp traps envmon temperature

I created a MIB model Envmon with these variables:

    -ciscoEnvMonTemperatureThreshold

    -ciscoEnvMonTemperatureStatusValue
    -ciscoEnvMonTemperatureState
    -ciscoEnvMonTemperatureLastShutdown

I created a poller associated with my model, I add my device and when I click on 'Next', I have this error message:

    ###

No instance are in the devices. This could be because the device is inaccessible, the device does not have the case for selected models or the timeout value is low.

    ###

Could someone explain to me why I can't monitor MIB?

Thanks for your consideration and Merry Christmas to all!

It seems that most of the 2960 have a temperature sensor implemented in hardware and therefore, it shows no values.

If a device does not show anything on CLI, it is almost impossible that it will display something via SNMP.

  • First management LAN CiscoWorks LMS or Cisco? Help

In my business, we look adds a network management solution:

Some time ago, we installed CiscoWorks LMS 3.2, but we decided to install on the other more modern solution, what is the solution which recommend me?

    Requeriments:

1 000 devices from cisco management.

    Regularly perform massive configurations.

Constant monitoring of the network infrastructure.

    Backups of configuration.

    We have two solutions:

-Update the current CiscoWorks to LMS 4.x version

-buy the "First Cisco LAN Management" Solution

    What solution that recommend me?

    Thank you for your attention.

    Kind regards.

    Hi Jeffersson,

The current product packaging is a bit confusing. Cisco is rebranding all of their management under the aegis of the first Cisco solutions. All prime products have a common appearance and take advantage of some approaches architectural.  From LMS 3.2 on 4.x will put you in the first territory of Cisco.

In the 'first' products are (among others) "Cisco first Infrastructure" (also known as PI - 1.2 is the current version) and "Cisco first LMS" (4.2.3 is current). Preferred Infrastructure (1.0) began in the successor to management wireless Cisco (NCS) product and had been adding features on the way to bring it up to parity with LMS functionality to wired infrastructure. He isn't quite there right now (current comparison here) that existing customers of LMS are usually advised to stick with the latest version of the LMS for now.

Still with me? Good. If the extra twist is that 4.2 LMS is "included" with licenses of FT 1.2 - see the link guide below. So, if you want LMS 4.x, you order indeed 1.2 FT with licenses "Cycle of life" according to the number of devices you manage. (There also is 'respect' and 'insurance' adding these new features of the respective licenses. Compliance is available from LMS 4.2 in the CAAM.  Insurance is almost a FT 1.2 functionality only.)

So my recommendation to you would be to upgrade to version 1.2 of PI and to install and to use the LMS 4.2 (4.2.3 and put patched up-to-date with all the packaging of the products). If you have a VMware configuration, deployment option flexible device (file eggs) is the easier implementation,.

You may find it useful to explain this point of view of Cisco the following two links:

    Functional reference LMS

Control of IP and Licensing Guide

Don't worry not-all this will not be on the test.

  • How to reset the password on a Windows-based CiscoWorks LMS 3.2?

I have problems with the procedure for recovery of password on a 3.2 CiscoWorks installation. The problem is that I have no idea what versions of software are running (track never cared).

  • DFM in Ciscoworks.

    Hello

I'll put up device Fault Manager in Ciscoworks LMS 3.0.1

For the moment, we used what is gold (ping) to alert the team of Technical Support if the devices go down. As you can imagine, they receive hundreds of emails every day to inform them that these devices are going up and down etc...

Ciscoworks may draw attention to more detailed information, I would like to alerts configuration for the team of support when the devices goes down/crash/inaccessible etc. using SNMP. These devices do any configuration on them to attract the attention of Ciscowork. They are already syslogs send to the Ciscoworks server. What settings will suffice for these devices down?

Also, I have more questions, for notification of SNMP trap on the Ciscoworks server, what information should I put here?

    DFM version is 3.0.2

    Thanks 1million

    Anthony.

First of all, I highly recommend that upgrade you to 3.0.3 DFM. There is a serious enough problem that can cause the whole of the LMS to failure if some that are installed on the system. This bug is fixed in 3.0.3 DFM.

If you wish to inform your operators based on syslog messages, you can set up automated actions to do so under RME > tools > Syslog > automated Actions. Any time a corresponding syslog message is processed by the RME and e-mail can be sent, or a script can be executed.

While DFM can treat some traps, it is mainly based on SNMP and ICMP on election to build its events. Therefore, as long as SNMP and ICMP connection exists between your server and your devices, you should be set. You can configure notifications DFM under DFM > Notification Services. I recommend that when you set up your Notification Group, just check you the option buttons in events. Events contain specific details about a defect of the device. Alerts, contain a roll-up high level of several events. DFM notifications can be sent as e-mail, traps and syslogs.

  • LMS 3.2

    Hi guys,.

I installed Ciscoworks LMS with common services; RME and CM but forget the Device Fault Manager software platform. Do you know how can I add it? Thank you.

    Kind regards.

    Oscar

I'm sure that you can pretty much add a DFM. On Solaris, for example, simply re - run "setup.sh", and then choose the following at the prompt:

    (2) custom installation. For advanced users.
    Select the components to install.
Enter Admin, comments, identity account of the system, the passwords for the database for the new facility.
    Keep for upgrade and relocation.

Then choose the appropriate option for: DFM (# 9 below) when you are prompted, add it to your existing installation of LMS:

    (1) Common Services 3.3
    (2) portal 1.2 LMS
    (3) CiscoWorks Assistant 1.2
    (4) CiscoView 6.1.9
    (5) integration utility 1.9
    (6) resource Manager Essentials 4.3
    (7) the Director of the campus 5.2
    (8) the Fault Manager HPOV-Netview 3.2 device adapters
    (9) device Fault Manager 3.2
    (10) internetwork Performance Monitor 4.2
    (11) all the foregoing
    -Applications module.
    (12) and use monitor 1.2

  • LMS with UM for 5000 devices

    Hello

We will install an LMS with UM for 5000 devices. We can see in the hardware requirements doc that "UM and CS must be installed on a stand-alone server, which manages 1000 devices.

    My questions are:

    1 and 4000 other devices?

    2. is it mandatory to install CS and HUM in a separate server?

3 - What are the hardware requirements for this server with UM and CS?

4 - is possible to configure the CiscoWorks LMS master and the server with UM and CS as slave?

    Thank you very much.

UM can't stand up to 1000 devices. See http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/ciscoworks_health_and_utilization_monitor/1.2/Install/guide/HUMprqst.html#wp1058394 for the hardware and software configuration.

  • No the ciscoworks server http response

    Hi all

We use a stand-alone server of Ciscoworks lms 3.0.1.

In ciscoworks Portal attend, when we click on the Configuration of the server, we get error

CWA14: No the ciscoworks Server HTTP response.

Either: 1. the server may be down. OR2.the Protocol, port number or the user maybe credentials wrong.

1 check the connection to the server.

    2. check the credentials.

    3. restart the daemon manager.

We can view the setting of the server, and we have not changed credentials or stop all services. Everything works fine.

Why this error is coming and what should be done to clean it up.

    Thank you

    with respect,

    Ashraf

It is most likely a problem with your user identity System credentials, then. Go to common Services > server > Security > identity system configuration and re - enter user credentials valid for a user who has full access to all of the LMS. Then see if CWA works.

  • CiscoWorks woes.

    Hello

I have? ve posted here a couple times on my problems of CiscoWorks LMS 2.5. Most of what I heard was that people thought that I should switch to 2.6 LMS and which would address issues if all goes well

    Previous post: http://forums.cisco.com/eforum/servlet/NetProf?page=netprof&CommCmd=MB%3Fcmd%3Ddisplay_location%26location%3D.1dddc198

Campus Manager and CiscoView sections seem to work properly, RME is the part with the fact that I have problems.

I could finally go to 2.6 LMS

    Version Info:

    LMS 2.6

    1 CiscoWorks Common Services 3.0.5

    2 CiscoView 6.1.5

    3. utility integration 1.6.0

    4 resource Manager Essentials 4.0.5

    5. campus Manager 4.0.6

    Solaris Server

    Standalone Config.

I have? m a few problems as follows:

    The device selection:

Whenever I try to view the devices / expand a section, it takes (not exaggerating) 2-3 minutes to list (approximately 500 devices). It wasn't a problem, before I upgraded to 2.6. Log for the switch of the device levels are only the value of information, but there is no entries in there since March 5 (I upgraded to LMS2.6 March 15). In the CiscoView and campus Manager parts, I can view the whole list with minimum latency. Ideas?

    Management of archive:

The daily work that is running fails on all 474 devices. When I discovered the work, I get this explanation:? CM0140 device has been removed from the RME. ? The device is RME (AFAIK) and appears in the switch of the device. Ideas?

    Syslog Analyzer:

Scheduled daily backups do not move. An empty file is created with a file name of something like this: "SyslogPurgedDataBackup1172646007598."

When I try to run a report to view Syslog messages (of them sends a host I know, I found in the way of a problem with this host by looking at the log on the CiscoWorks server file manually), the report returns with zero valid. I have? ve tried this all of my devices as well. Other types of reports work very well, as a report of inventory, for example. I tried to stop / restart the thought to process Syslog Analyzer maybe it was a problem, but no go. I changed Debug Log to Syslog elucidating and Syslog Analyzer UI levels.

The SyslogAnalyzerUI.log file is showing many entries as follows:

    [Sea 21 Mar 13:49:55 CST 2007], DEBUG, [Ajp13Processor [9009] [2]], com.cisco.nm.rmeng.util.DCRWrapperAPIs, getDevSelInfo, 1153, dcr id: 2670 mdf id: 268438097

    [Sea 21 Mar 13:49:55 CST 2007], the name of DEBUG, [Ajp13Processor [9009] [2]], com.cisco.nm.rmeng.util.DCRWrapperAPIs, getDevSelInfo, 1158, Display: 10.10.17.12

It looks like its analysis of the info. The SyslogCollector.log file is full of these entries ONLY:

    SyslogCollector - [Thread: SyslogObjectForwarder] INFO, March 21, 2007 14:18:10, 917, FcssSubscriber - after writing

    SyslogCollector - [Thread: SyslogObjectForwarder] INFO, March 21, 2007 14:18:11, 132, FcssSubscriber - after writing

    SyslogCollector - [Thread: SyslogObjectForwarder] INFO, March 21, 2007 14:18:11, 355, FcssSubscriber - after writing

    Ideas, why can't I? t get a report?

I found this in the RMECSTMServerlog file? Maybe it means something to someone? :

[Sea Mar 21 12:44:07 CST 2007], INFO, [RMECSTMServer], com.cisco.nm.rmeng.cstm.server.DMgtRunner, run, 106, Got daemonmgr message: 1111708500

    [Sea Mar 21 13:41:41 CST 2007], INFO, [RMECSTMServer], com.cisco.nm.rmeng.cstm.server.DMgtRunner, run, 104, Looping

[Sea Mar 21 13:41:41 CST 2007], INFO, [RMECSTMServer], com.cisco.nm.rmeng.cstm.server.DMgtRunner, run, 106, Got daemonmgr message: 1111708500

    [Sea Mar 21 14:11:54 CST 2007], INFO, [RMECSTMServer], com.cisco.nm.rmeng.cstm.server.DMgtRunner, run, 104, Looping

These inconsistent data indicate a big problem with the RME database. At this point, you need to reset your RME database to recover. The command to do is (with stop of dmgtd as root):

    /opt/CSCOpx/bin/dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn = rmeng dmprefix = RME

Then restart dmgtd. The devices will resync of DCR, and this problem should go away.

  • Connection failure privileged LMS

Successfully, we have installed a first LMS 4.2 fee, we were able to connect to the GUI, later, we have restored a backup of ciscoworks lms 4.0.1 but we could not connect by using a new password created or former admin as well.

Reset us the password using the utility resetpasswd.exe, but still we can not connect, it gives an error of bad credetials.

If anyone can help in this case, thank you

    Hello

    Stop the LMS service then.

Go to the servers command prompt and go to the following directory: C:/Program Files/CSCOpx/bin> Here type the following command: perl ResetLoginModule.pl Example:- C:/Program Files/CSCOpx/bin>perl ResetLoginModule.pl

  • Backup and managing configurations on ONS 15454 devices

We have a lot of ONS 15454 and CiscoWorks LMS 4 apparently does not support these devices (I can't pick the cards ML1000 configurations or configs of chassis).

Can I save the configurations of the STC cards/chassis using the CTC? I see a backup option of database under maintenance contract, but I'm not entirely of this make. Basically, I want to assure you that if one of these devices suffers a hardware failure, I have backups of the way in which the circuits are provided.

Is there a better tool to use?

    Any advice would be great

For nodes to backup through the CTC, the Cisco ONS 15454 procedure Guides describe the steps to be taken to save the nodes (section below the latest version is:)

Cisco Transport Manager is a management system of item available for the largest optical networks and has features to back up the databases of several nodes.

    =========

    NTP-A108 back up the database

    Goal

This procedure saves a backup version of the TCC2/TCC2P (software) database on the workstation running Cisco transport (CTC) controller or a network server.

    Tools/equipment

    None

    Pre-trial proceedings

    None

    Required / have required

Mandatory. Cisco recommends to perform a backup of database at intervals of about a week and before and after configuration changes.

    Onsite / remote

    On-site or remotely

    Security level

    Maintenance or higher

Note You need to back up and restore the database for each node on a path of the circuit in order to maintain a complete circuit.

Note The following settings are not backed up and restored: node name and Internet Inter - ORB Protocol (IIOP) port. If you change the name of the node and restore a backup of a database with a different node name, the circuits map to the new node name. Cisco recommends keeping a record of the old and new node names.

Step 1 Complete the "DLP-A60 Log into CTC" task at the node that you want to back up. If you are already connected, go to step 2.

Step 2 Click it maintenance > Database tabs.

    Step 3 Click on backup.

Step 4 Save the database on the hard drive of the workstation or network storage. Use a file name with the extension of .db file. for example, database.db.

    Step 5 Click Save.

Step 6 Click OK in the confirmation dialog box.

Stop. You have completed this procedure.

is it possible to have independent installed ciscoview software?

You can not install CiscoView featured in CiscoWorks LMS as a standalone application. LMS components all depend on common Services to various degreees. You can distribute the components over several servers, but it is for scalability as opposed to making it "independent".
