Cleaning fan

I have a hp dv6-6c50us, and my fan seems to work super hot lately. I was told he probably needs cleanup, there may be lint or something in there. I went to the back of my computer but I removed all the screws and it seems not to move. The cover of the hard drive does not have any opposite. I tried youtubing that this and I didn't find an adequate solution since none of the dv6 models displayed are exactly like mine. Trying to save a visit to the computer geek, can someone help me get going it back?

Hello:

Have you read Chapter 4 of the maintenance manual?

http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c03099531.PDF

Personally, I would never dismantle the PC just to clean the fan/radiator.

I just unplug the PC off, remove the battery, find something thin like a straight pin to place around the inlet of the fan between the fan blades to prevent the fan from spinning when the bomb spray compressed air into the vent.  You do not want the fan to turn because the air force will spin too fast and that will not fail to destroy the bearings of the fan.

I look for the dust to blow on the vent, and then I repeat the process in reverse until I see no dust coming out anyway.

I've read too many tales of woe of people removing parts and then their notebooks do any work afterwards.

Here is the Manualof the G7.

Remove the top cover will give you full access to the CPU fan.

Remove just the keyboard could give you enough access to blow the fan.

Instructions to remove the top cover begin on page 61.

Don't forget that the laptop has cooling vents on the bottom which must always stay away. You should only run the laptop on a hard surface and not on a pillow, bed, etc...

There are also available laptop cooler carpet that have built in USB powered fans.

Before disassembling the laptop, you can try using a can of compressed air and blow into the intake/exhaust vents.

How to clean equipment, ventilation of the cooling system is dirty and if quickly overheat, it is allowed and possible and how do I open the case? If I do this, is that mean that I broke the seals and have no warranty/guarantee of Toshiba?

    Hello

Yes it s true. If you open the Notepad or remove the lids to clean the fans on the inside you will lose the warranty.
I clean my device with vacuum fans. This is a very simple procedure and I don t need open Notepad.
But if you try this, so please be careful.

  • Laptop HP pavellion g6 cleaning fan without losing the warranty.

    Hey

My laptop HP pavellion g6 2320tx seems pretty dirty now. Heating has increased compared to its previous state more recent. What I want is to get their mouths and cleaned the Interior cooling fan. I can disassemble the laptop and do what is necessary, but I'm afraid to lose the warranty on my product.

Is it possible for the customer to disassemble the product by himself well under warranty coverance? If something does not guarantee will be always good and the service will be free as long as it is supposed to be?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello:

Unless the laptop has some blocking really bad, you can use the method that I use and pretty much clean the fan/radiator completely area.

    1. remove the power a/c and the main battery of the laptop.

2 get a straight pin or something thin enough to pose by the fan of the air intake, then place the object between two of the fan blades to avoid that the fan is running.

3 spray a can of compressed air into the fan intake a few times and look at the blow of dust on the fan to exhaust air.

Spray the air in vent fan too and look for dust coming out of the fan intake.

Do this several times until you can't see dust coming out anyway.

I've never taken a notebook apart to clean the fan/radiator area and my notebooks all work efficiently and the fans rarely turn upward.

  • Pavillion Dv7: HELP! Cleaned fan and now this!

My fan was constantly running for awhile now so I decided to clean it up. Of course, the only way to effectively clean was to open the laptop and blow air. So I did and when I closed it upward, I stayed with a screw. Now I am normally a short because I lost one of the long screws that are placed in the 4 corners of the rear plate. Later, I assumed that I did not replace the 2 screws for the Assembly of the fan. It turns out I was right, but I've been abbreviated 1 screw more. I had to open the computer again and replace the screws.

So after I closed the laptop until I'm going to turn on and this is what happened: (also, I had asked a question on another laptop I have; it is not related to this one. The other is already fixed and working. It is also out of warranty).

I don't know why this has happened, or what I can do about it. I had used an airbrush to clean dirt. Maybe there's some dirt still inside to hinder operations?

You did that your video cable connection was well set correctly?

  • Pavilion dv6: thermal cleaning fan/paste procedure?

    Hi all

I soon open my laptop top to replace the thermal paste in the motherboard and clean the fan in my computer. I base what I'm OFF this Youtube video:

    https://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=el0B6imb5hg

I intend using E2 IC compound thermal essential, an anti-static wristband and a few screwdrivers to this "operation". Not to mention that static electricity and what is mentioned in the video (essentially to remove tons of screws until I can take out the motherboard, then clean the old thermal paste and put new in) is there anything else I need to keep in mind?

This is a very good video. If you follow, you will have no problems. Just be sure to apply thermal grease sparingly. It should just cover the bright core of the processor and not slop on the Green CPU card.

Clean the fan of the laptop and repasting once a year would be nice, or if the computer is heating upward than normal.

There are a lot of application that monitors CPU and GPU temperature,

If you want to refresh the thermal paste / rebonding of your laptop, that's what we normally use

    Hello

    1. Air to compress in the RCA would not damage the fan
    2. I don't think that clean the laptop while it is up and running is a good idea.

  • Satellite Pro M70 - cooling fan stopped working

    Hello

I have a laptop M70, I have recently identified as not very hot when in use. I have now identified that the fan has stopped working.

Any ideas how I can get this fan, so I give it a clean and check that the connected fan isn't loose etc.?

    Thank you

Are you sure that your cooling module has stopped working 100%?
Maybe the cooling module is ok but cannot run with maximum performance and can not cool the CPU correctly because of the dust and debris inside the laptop?
What do you think of this theory?

I can tell you that I read a lot of stories and gossip on overheating problems and be more honest to these issues could be solved by cleaning fans.

I clean my cooling fans from time to time with a jet of compressed air.
These sprays are professional tools and can be purchased in most dealers specialized computers.

But if the fan has stopped working and then a jet of compressed air will not help you.
In this case, a technician must check the laptop.

Maybe the laptop must completely disassemble to remove and replace the defective part.
This procedure is really tricky and must be performed by a technician for laptop.

    Good luck buddy

  • Portable fan on constantly on & off Satellite a series

If please advise me as to why my fan on my laptop Toshiba Satellite continues constantly to come and goes out almost every 45 seconds.

The laptop still under warranty just had its second new HDD & bios update & cleaned fan but the laptop computers fan is still constantly * cycling on & off almost every 45 seconds * (sometimes every 60 seconds). It is very annoying and distracting when working.
As I remember this problem with the fan coming on and outside (* cycling after about 50 seconds & staying on during approximately 20 seconds *) did not happen when I first bought the laptop last year.

If the fan/vents are not very dirty, open the computer would not need both entry and exit events are accessible from the rear/bottom of the unit.  If the fan and vents have a lot of dust/blockage, it might be advantageous to open the system to deep clean the device.

  • (Redirected) Lound fan noise and strange smell _15R SE 7520 Dell Inspiron

    Hello everyone,

I have a problem with a fan of my Inspiron 15R SE 7520 Dell. Generally, a fan is a bit strong. But sometimes it becomes so quieter and very strong. It is very irritating, as you can imagine. But in addition to that, sometimes, I noticed a smell something like plastic out of fan. I went to the PC repair and they cleaned fan and CPU sinks and exchanged CPU Thermopaste. He did not last long and he returns as before.

Should I change the whole fan and heatsink CPU unit or is something different is broken in my laptop.

    Hope someone can help me.

  • Satellite A300-211 - ACPI overheating

    Hello

Recently my laptop overheating to frequently. I had this problem before and I bought the cooling package and everything was fine. But now, despite the external cooling device he stil stops. I run SpeedFan to see what is causing this problem. Two hearts runs at an acceptable temperature. But there is that this thing called ACPI - Temp1. Exactly what is it? I used compressed air to clean fan and what I was able to clean with keyboard just disassembled.

I do complete the cleaning? And last question. Is this fan the only source of cooling in my netbook
I mean it's the only thing I should replace if cleaning does not work?

Friend of mine has a similar problem with Satellite A300. Problem was overheating and suddenly switch offs. I disassembled the laptop and cleaned the area of cooling fan and cooling rack. It was full of dust and cooling rack was blocked by dust.

After cleaning laptop was able to catch his breath and he has worked quietly and without compromise.
I imagine that your laptop is also full of dust and must be cleaned but not using compressed air. Believe me, it must be disassembled cleaned in professional way.

I must also say that the disassembly can be dangerous if you do it yourself. Something may be damaged so maybe you shouldn't do it yourself. Try to find someone who can do it for you.
Accredited maintainer can do for you also but I can't say how much it costs. Contact and ask how it works.

  • Satellite Pro started to stop abruptly without warning

    Hello

Can someone advise me, I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop, it is around the age of 13 months, and he began to stop abruptly without warning.
It seems to be when I run high processor applications.

    I have 3 questions,

    (1) it is first of all, this laptop will always be covered by the warranty, even if he is 13 months old?

    (2) is it a simple fix for this problem of overheating?

    (3) I looked online and it seems to be a very common problem with Toshiba laptops, has there been a recall on all models?

Thanks for any help you can give me?

    > 1) the first is, this laptop will always be covered by the warranty, even if he is 13 months old?
Standard warranty covers portable duration 12 months. If you didn t buy additional coverage then the manufacturer's warranty no longer valid.
But in my country, the dealer covers the portable 24 months long then maybe you should ask your dealer for info.

(> 2) is there a simple fix for this problem of overheating?
Well, the temperature could be higher because of the dust and debris inside the cooling rack.
You could possibly solve this cleaning fans and cooling grids. I use the jet of compressed air. This could help you as it helped me

(> 3) I looked online and it seems to be a very common problem with Toshiba laptops, has there been a recall on all models?
This isn't a problem common with Toshiba notebook but unusual for all series of laptops from all brands.
After a while the debris may clog the cooling system because the cooling fans are always placed at the bottom of the unit.
It is advisable to clean the fans from time to time to ensure good air circulation.
