cleaning hklm\system\CurrentControlSet\Control\Network
Background: after several attempts to fix a virtual adapter installed by Oracle VirtualBox, I seem to end up with a bunch of orphaned entries in the registry referenced key. Normally, when the product is installed, it creates a network called "VirtualBox in Ethernet Adapter" adapter, running on 192.168.56.1 (in general). The last few iterations the installation is completed, but with the message 'cannot rename this connection. " A check "ipconfig - a" shows an adapter named simply "Local 3 network connection Ethernet card" on this address. As a result of other tracks, I arrived at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Network\ {4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}, where the higher level revealed a link with the NAME of 'VirtualBox networking' property, as well as a connection with the NAME property of "Local 3" network connection. My working theory is that VBox first creates an adapter with a generic name, then trying to rename 'VirtualBox networking', but somewhere along the line, the "VirtualBox networking" connection name has been suspended on the left and resulted in the error message and the adapter on the left with the generic name. In addition, the same registry key shows several connections named "Local Area Connection * n", where n is a number between 2 and 21, inclusive, plus one without a number after the asterisk ("' Local Area Connection *" ")
Now, to post here because I would like to clean whateve mess is indicated by the present. There are some parts of the registry that I'm used to piracy, but this isn't one of them. Is it safe to just delete one of these attachments? Or are they cross - referenced somewhere else and I'd end up breaking all my network? What are all these "" Local area connection * ' keys? " are they orphans left-top, or place holders to be usable and name change? If the orphans, which is the safest way to clean them?
Hi Paul,.

I am running Vista Home Premium, 16-bit. I recently tried to re - install a CAD program that worked on the system before installation of Service Pack 2. A message appears reading: SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\VirtualDeviceDrivers, format of pilot of virtual device in the registry is invalid. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application. The installation is not successful. I tried to add the VirtualDeviceDriver key in the registry as suggested in this forum for similar problems, but this did not make a difference. Please let know us other solutions.
Hello
I suggest you try the steps below and check if it helps
Method 1:
Try to uninstall and program resinstall the CAD

What is the value from the registry: "HKLM\SystemCurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters--> TcpNumConnections = 0 x 00000064'. Not just any kind of malware
According to microsoft, but scanner spotted by Norman Malware Cleaner and quarentined. He re appears shortly after re-booting.See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314053
"Description: this parameter limits the maximum number of connections that TCP can have open at the same time."
This value is not normally present in a 'stock' of XP registry. Norman is probably on the assumption that some malicious software added to allow multiple concurrent TCP connections (typical P2P applications).
As far as I know, however, this parameter is ignored in XP Home and XP Pro, which limit the number of simultaneous incoming connections to 5 or 10, respectively based on hard coded in tcpip.sys. http://support.Microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;314882
Of course, this limit is incoming connections, so we could be able to have more than 5 or 10 outbound connections, but the level of detail is beyond me.

Update my windows 8 to win 8.1. My problem started with the win 8.
Device Manager reports no problem with my DVDRAM. My system will open the door of my cd. It will not read or write. When I click on the dvd icon; the door of the cd player opens and strives to turn only to stop after a brief rotation. I compared the registry with an example of this blog and I noticed I was missing a 'key' to the 'IconPath =. In addition, the quotes are absent. Is this normal?

I just installed a new internet provider and all of my connections are working fine, but I constantly get this "Windows system error: there is an IP address conflict with another system with the network." I have my electrician of the internet modem connected to my office. I have also two wireless devices connected to the appearance of the Modem wireless. I constantly get this error message mentioned above, and I want to get rid of it.
This means that all that he says. Your Windows system has an address that already exists on your local network. Turn your system off and use a working system to locate this address and to which unit he belongs. In most LANs, the router's DHCP server. You may be able to ask the router which addresses are used and see what device uses this address, but I suspect not.
Duplicate addresses can occur when two systems received the same address manually, or when we got an address in the DHCP of the router range. It is unclear when this happened because he is not in control of the address and puts the address duplicate to a second system. You need to track down, ensuring that all addresses manually asigned are out of the DHCP range, that you book the address of the router, if you want the device to use this address, or configure all devices to request the address of the router using DHCP.

Win XP SP3:
I can't open an element of individual logs in the application log.
It connects 4609 error repeatedly.
System shows a network card, but it does not show under network in the control panel.
Most of the Auto Services are OFF... and they will not start.
I am running an analysis of McAfee Viruscan then Stinger and Malwarebytes.
(EDIT... Malwarebytes does not... associated with stopped services?... error is Runtime Error 32... failed to load control 'lvbalGrid' vbalsgri6.ocs.)
What can I do else?
I use the system update WSUS... and updates if it is enough to run on this PC. It had not updated in a few months.
EDIT: Device Manager appears normal.
I have an other PC SP3 of XP which has the same symptoms:
No network connection
does not have malwarebytes
no system restore
Cannot open elements individual event viewer
many auto services are turned off
both started around April 21, when I published updates to the WSUS Server Windows.
I have 2 PC more than probably having the same problem.
Edit3: Use memory and CPU in both computers is very low... nothing happens... no network activity at all.
solved... I couldn't wait and had to call the excellent support... credit MS Bus support!
McAfee Viruscan has caused the problem of corrupt the windows\system32\svchost.exe file.
I fixed it by replacing the file svchost.exe with a good known of xp sp3... and McAfee update to the latest DAT files.
Because him copy / paste was dead, I had to use DOS or cmd.exe to copy the file from a USB key.

Hello
I deleted successfully installed grid Infrastructure software. Now, I installed again it but the installer complains about '[INS-40912] virtual host name assigned to another system on the network", which he complains not in the first installation process. :/
EDIT: I checked and both nodes of the cluster are interpingable through their virtual IP address.
I see that the previous installation has created a clean interface for this virtual IP address:
eth0:2 Link encap HWaddr 00:50:56:B9:0E:AA INET addr:10.200.11.159 Bcast:10.200.11.255 mask: 255.255.252.0 RUNNING BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 metric: 1 Basis of interruption: 19 address: 0x2000 OK solved: I just do:
ifconfig eth0:2 down

IP address conflict with another system on the network.
Our operating system is Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002. WE have set up on a small network of 6 computers. On three computers, we get a window that opens by telling us that "the system has detected an IP address conflict with another system on the network." Any ideas as to how we might resolve this problem?
Hello Jackie,.
Also, try the following.
Method 1: Check the settings for dynamic host, Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) on the router. Contact the manufacturer of the router or the access to the same provider.
Method 2: Release and renew the IP configuration.
- Click Start. Click Run, type cmd, press ENTER.
- Type the first command enough ipconfig and press ENTER.
- Then type the second command ipconfig / renew and press ENTER.
See if help above.

"There is an IP address conflict with another system on the network." I keep getting these messages on my computer. -What it means and how to solve this?
IP addresses are assigned to a computer in one of two basic methods: the address is assigned automatically by the device "in charge" of the network (in your case, the wifi hotspot router) or the address is set manually on the computer.
If the address is assigned automatically, the router is "smart" enough to assign a different address for everyone. However, if your computer has a fixed or 'static' IP address assigned manually, it may conflict with an address assigned by the router to another computer.
You do not specify, so I'm going to assume that your computer is running WIndows XP...
- On your computer, open the network connections (start > run > ncpa.cpl > OK)
- Right-click on the icon for your wireless adapter and select Properties
- Click on the 'Général' tab, select "Protocol Internet (TCP/IP)" from the list of "this connection uses the following items" and click "Properties".
- Select the boxes for two on "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically"
- OK your way out.
This will not adversely affect your computer somehow.
If the two "automatic" settings were already selected, it is likely that your wireless adapter is managed by a utility provided by the manufacturer of your computer or your adapter wifi rather than Windows. There should be a wifi icon in the system notification area (near the time display). Click or right-click on it and see if you can access the menu of configuration settings or to determine at which it is useful.
