Click on the link-get "Windows cannot open the file" select a program?

After clicking on link get "Windows cannot open this file" have to manually "selecta program programs installed" Firefox appears as a choice and I double-click. How can I solve this problem / eliminate these extra steps
? Thank you Joe
I am running Windows XP, MS office Outlook 2007

Is it a link in an e-mail message in Outlook? This problem arises from time to time.

While Firefox can usually set himself as the proper application to open the URL, you click in other programs, settings are sometimes blur or do not take. This article has tips to solve this problem: setting Firefox as the default browser does not work - what to do. Anything there help?

If the problem persists, is there something special about how you start Firefox? For example, you have this launch in a security 'sandbox' or virtual machine? You have all the command-line options set to allow several simultaneous sessions of Firefox, or call the Profile Manager? If none of this sounds familiar to you, the answer is probably not.

  • Error message - Windows cannot open this file after downloading program

After several days in offline mode, I went online to update Microsoft Security Essentials and click on analysis complete.  It took an hour.  After that, I found that all my programs were virgins, almost of all of the standard microsoft Microsoft Security Essentials is.  I tried to download it again, plus others such as adobe acrobat, but all said "windows cannot open this file".  I asked help from Microsoft but received access denied.  I feel like an illegal immigrant, as all the doors were closed.  What does that mean?  My OS would be illegal?  It is Windows XP and was purchased new in the retail price in 2004 and has only once been out of my hands when I sent it repairs and have 2 GB ram added.  Any ideas?

  • Only the administrator can read mp3 files. All users get "Windows cannot open this file".

I am running XP SP3... After that my children were on the internet all day, they have lost the ability to play mp3 files. When I went to ' Control Panel/folders/files Types... under MP3 - we say "Sound in MP3 format" with no program to open this type of file. "

However, when I signed up as a Director and went to 'File Types' he registered "Windows Media Player" as the program to open the file.

So I can play the MP3 files under administrator, but no one else can play an MP3 file.

    Any suggestions?

    Hello

    Method 1
JSON is a java file. or JavaScript Object Notation, is an open standard based on text designed for the exchange of human readable data. It is derived from the JavaScript scripting language to represent associative arrays, and simple data structures called objects. Despite his relationship with JavaScript, it is independent of the language, with parsers available for many languages.

If you want to open. You must have Java installed on your computer the JSON file. If you have java installed on the computer I suggest you to try the steps from the following link:

Change the programs that Windows uses by default

    Method 2
I also suggest to run virus scan online by using the Microsoft safety scanner.

If you use windows XP, it is not possible to install Microsoft Gadgets on it. Microsoft Gadgets are optimized for Windows Vista and Windows 7 only.

However, you can use your favorite search engine to download third-party gadgets which can serve the purpose.

    Hey Adil_hadi

by the sound of it, you have not used the vista disc management program to do this job

You can not reduce the other partitions and vista disc management allows to fix the pieces of them on the c: partition

is that correct that you have used 3rd party disk partition software?

normally in vista disk management you must delete a full score, then extend c: into the now unallocated space where the other partition was to expand the c: partition

and vista does not have the means to move partitions on the hard disk

for any problem you have if using partition software disk, 3rd party contact the programs manufacturer

  • 8 64-bit Windows cannot open chm files

    Hello

I have a user who cannot view help files .chm on their 64-bit of Windows 8 computers. Here are the help files that reside on the local hard drive (C:\Program Files\...) and NOT on a server share. At the opening of these (double clicking the .chm file or opening with F1 in the application), they are displayed with a message "Navigation to the webpage was canceled".
This seems to be the same problem that tons of people have on their files downloaded .chm or shared, but for this one user is for all local .chm files.
    I tried the things:
    1. HHReg using asks to move the MaxAllowedZone to 2 (which I don't expect to have an effect since it is the LOCAL files that don't work)
    2. HHReg application using Add the path to the .chm for the UrlAllowList entry file.
To further complicate things, my own 64-bit of Windows 8 machine can open files .chm perfectly without any problems. Granted, I'm a software developer so I have a ton of programs installed (including the HTMLHelp Workshop) which can be fix this problem for me? I don't really know why it works for me and not for the single user.
    So, anyone have any ideas?

The only thing that worked for me was to uncheck "always ask... at the opening of this file... "When you first open the file. Subsequently, the popup no longer appears, and you can read the content of the CHM file.
