Click recorded TV, it says that "Windows Media Center has stopped working, seeking resolutions... »

I'm having a problem with Windows Media Center. It starts no problem, but when I click on recorded TV, it says that "Windows Media Center has stopped working, seeking resolutions... "If I click on TV guide there is no problem. I tried a restore, but for some reason any restore function has been disabled.

(copy - paste from another thread - user has same question):

You has not, coincidentally, happens to record last Friday (I think it is?) episode of human target (what happened to be replaced by a House reruns), did you?
Reason I ask: it has been a little traffic on to thegreenbutton on the subject these days - and everyone who reported also arrived to try to save human target.  Somehow, the file finished with metadata is corrupted, what makes MC crash when you enter recorded TV (at best, it crashes when you select the program from the list.)
FIX: Open Explorer and go to C:\users\Public\Recorded TV.  Find and remove "human Target__"(exemple: «La Target_WDIVDT_2010_10_01».) ".
Start Media Center, and then try again.  Fixed?

HTH,
Chris

  • Error: "Windows Media Center has stopped working. Windows is checking for a solution. "when tried to open it after installing the KB983590 update

Original title: WMC no longer works after update of August 10

Windows Media Center has stopped working after installation of my Windows 7 Professional pc all 11 updates gave me on August 11, 2010. I used system restore to the day before the updates, and install them individually. The first 9 no trouble with WMC. But the IE8 KB982664 for Windows 7 compatibility view list caused my action center to report that I needed to check the undeclared solutions to problems. WMC would still start. But after installing KB983590 .NET framework 3.5.1 for Windows 7 x 86, WMC has stopped working.

After you uninstall update 2 above WMC would still not start.

After using the system again restore forward updates, I installed the other 9 updated with, so far, no problem with WMC.

  • Windows Media Center has stopped working (after the great October Windows Update).

In October, there was a Windows update that broke my Media Center (and THXaudio.exe) I was able to restore and put off the various updates until I recently needed to shut down the computer for a clean material out.  Even though I had several valid restore points before the updates available, I was not able to use the system restore (says a file is missing) and also not able to restore all the features.

First of all, I tried different patches of problem I already found online: I used the "sfc/scannow" and it always shows the files that need fixing (but he can't fix them). I tried the system restore (and broke). Deleting the database file does not apply. I even "turned off" WMC and not turned back on - no chance.

  • Windows Media Player closes whenever I open it with the message "Windows Media Player has stopped working"

    Hello

I have a XC of Aspire Acer-605, i5 with Windows 8 (bought 4 weeks ago)

When I open Windows Media Player 12, if I play music or not, in less than a minute, a box appears that says:

"Windows Media Player has stopped working: a problem caused the blocking of the program works correctly." Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

The only option then is to click on "close the program".

When I try to listen to music on CyberLink Power Media Player 12. I have the pop box saying:

"Play.exe stopped working: Please send us this report to help us solve the problem and improve this software."

The option only two then are "CANCEL" or to type my email and the problem then click on 'send report '. I did the second and nothing heard back.

XBOX media player works, but I don't want to use it.

I already scanned with McFee virus and it found nothing. I recently remove a virus from my computer. The problems may have started after that.

Can you help me to solve my problem?

After days and days of the trial, an online chat with a technician Microsoft (which was useless) I finally found a suggestion that worked... I had to create a new user account with administrative privileges. Media worked perfectly in this new account! I then spent ages downloading the files from my old account before deleting completely. It took a long time and has been a real pain, but at least it works now :-). Good luck to all. I hope this works for you xx

    Hi herbyderbydo,

1A what difficulties have you tried Microsoft?

    2. does come with any specific channel?

This problem occurs if the process of updating Windows Media Center (Mcupdate.exe) cannot access the Windows Media Center data store.

You'll need to rebuild the Windows media center data store and check if it works.

Run the tool fixit here automatically to rebuild the data store.

You can also try manually as follows:

    1.

Exit any running instance of Windows Media Center.

    2.

Delete the file mediaCenterDataStore.db. By default, this file is located in the following location:

    %SystemDrive%\ProgramData\Microsoft\eHome\mediaCenterDataStore.DB

To remove the file, follow these steps:

    one.

    Click Startand then click run

    b.

In the Open box, type run , and then click OK
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click continue

    c.

In the Open box, type %systemdrive%\programdata\microsoft\ehome , and then click OK .

    d.

In the details pane, right-click right mediacenterdatastore.db and then click Remove .

    e.

Click Yes to confirm that you want to move the Mediacenterdatastore.db file to the trash.

    3.

    Start Windows Media Center.

If the previous step fails, check the event viewer to determine the cause of the problem and post here

What are the information in event logs? (Event Viewer)

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/what-information-appears-in-event-logs-Event-Viewer

Let us plug in which is also used by the channel causing the media center stopped by right clicking on the channel.

    I hope this helps!
