codec windows movie maker Vista problem

I have projects in movie maker that now I want to edit and publish, I can not because when I try to import these files the required codec is not installed?  I have downloaded supposed codecs that work & they do not.  I spent hours with tech support and no result short of my project!

Hey,.

Download and install the right codecs. Maybe your should try K-Lite Codec Pack Full 5.6.1:

More than likely you are using one or more incompatible source files...
or the project may be too complex for your system resources.

Might be worth trying to convert your video files in .wmv format

  • Windows Movie Maker (Vista) stuck on 'check project files', does not and will not load past to halfway.

    Hey guys,.

I have been editing videos using Windows Movie Maker with great success, but I have recently installed the K-Lite Codec pack (http://www.free-codecs.com/download/k_lite_codec_pack.htm)

and since then, Movie Maker will not load one of my projects.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the codecs but I feel I did something for the Movie Maker of the program itself, installing the codec pack, it came with a list of files it wanted to replace. As I obviously had no idea what I was doing, I just said yes to everything that was recommended. I don't know for the life of me exactly what files were etc however, it seems Director impact because now it does not load the project files.

It's such an embarrassment because I don't know what is happening and really need this problem as soon as POSSIBLE. Any help would be appreciated.

I recently bought a Dazzle DVC 100 and recording o startedt. I do not have the program they give you, its just too messy. I asked on their live support chat, and they told me to come ask Microsoft so here I am: p.

    Can someone help me please?

    Hello Karan139,

Thank you for using the Microsoft Windows Vista Forums.

Have you went to "Device Manager" to check it's not a problem with the card?  Have you tried to remove the drivers and reinstall?  I found a link that specifies this problem and has more information that may be useful.  Please let me know if this helped, or if you're still having problems.

  • WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER MUSIC PROBLEM

USING WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER, WHEN I TRY TO IMPORT THE MUSIC, I GET THE MESSAGE THAT IT COULD NOT BE IMPORTED.  HOW CAN I SOLVE THIS PROBLEM?

Some audio and video file formats are not supported in Windows Movie Maker and cannot be imported. However, if you have a video or audio file that is not taken care of, you can use a non-Microsoft video editing software to convert the file into a format supported by Windows Movie Maker, and then import the video file or an audio resulting in Windows Movie Maker

You can import files with the following file name extensions into Windows Movie Maker to use in your project:

    • Video files: .asf, .avi, dvr - ms, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, and .wmv

    • Audio files: .aif, .aifc, .aiff, .asf, .au, .mp2, .mp3, .mpa, .snd, .wav, and .wma

    • File Picture: .bmp, DIBs, .emf, .gif, .jfif, .jpe, .jpeg, .jpg, .png, .tif, .tiff and .wmf

If you want to import a file into Windows Movie Maker that has a different from those indicated above, extension in the file type list, select all files. Windows Movie Maker can import most file types, but not all types of files do not work when you try to use them to make a movie.

  • Windows Movie Maker, backup problem

A film using a Canon's HD camcorder. I changed the file types of. MTS of. AVI in order to import clips movie maker for editing. I've finished editing and press on save to my computer and I get pop ups saying memory could not be read or memory cannot be written. I can't save it as one of the options listed with movie maker. Can you tell me how to save without having to re - edit all the elements together, it took 17 hours. Please help, I need for a school project. Thank you.

FWIW... 17 hours is a time if this project can
be too big or too complex for your system resources.
Creation of several small projects may be the answer.

Also before you import into film WMV conversion
Maker can be better than the conversion to AVI.

Try to go to... Tools / Options / Compatibility tab...
and left click on the "All default settings" button.

If you still cannot save... try to save in the DV - AVI format:
(remember the file size will be huge and it would be better)
If you do not have multitasking so that the file is saved)

To save a DV - AVI movie file...
    (and other options)
Type of... CTRL + P (or go to...) File / save movie file)
to open the wizard movie recording.
    Choose... My computer.
    Next /.
Enter a name and a location.
    Next /.
    Show more choices.
    Other parameters.
Open the window of the droplet and choose... DV - AVI.
    Next /.
Wait while the movie is saved.

  • Windows Movie Maker, a problem of sound with the "Split"?

Well, that makes me extremely crazy because I'm unable to download videos on youtube. So I have this video which lasts 7 minutes. I decided to split the video into two (at halfway accurate). Then I inserted a photo in the middle of the video. The problem here is that after the image in the Middle, the second part of my video plays fine except for the sound (my voice). He decided to play my voice from the first part of the video response and bacsically everything for the second clip! I tried everything in my power to make it work. I even tried to cut the second part, while he was alone and recording, but guess what? He still played my voice of the first part of the video! It is making me upset moajorly. I also have the updated version if you were wondering. It is much too difficult to work with, especially since I'm used to the other older, so I think I'm missing a certain button or article or something. I don't even know. So my question is, how to split a video by half, add a picture and make sure that my voice is match with my mouth & video. Moreover, I do not have voice on it or add audio. Quite simply, I filmed a video of me talking.

Since you use Movie Maker 6 and not Live Movie Maker, what follows
tutorial composed originally for XP, Movie Maker, you should get started

For the timeline, drag a second copy of the video to Audio / Music
follow and drag it left or right to align on the Audio track.

Then right-click / mute the Audio track.

Now, you can split the video anywhere you want... CTRL + L... and delete
a section... then insert a Photo and give it the same length as the
    segment you removed.

    Here's another method:

Split your video clip on each side of the area where will be the stills.

Now... drag the part cut on the audio / music. BTW... If you want to
to add a second 5 again... Remove 5 seconds of the video clip. (info below
    splitting if you need it)

Drag your fixed shots to the timeline and drop it off at the place where
    you have deleted the video.

The Audio clip on the audio / music can be dragged to the right or left to
    adjust its position.

    More information about the Division...

    "Split a Clip in MM2.1.

Drag the audio clip on the timeline.

Play the video/audio by clicking on the 'Play' button under the display screen.

You will see the playback indicator (vertical line), advancing through the
    timeline.

Click on the "Pause" button at the location where you want to cut and type...
CTRL + L or click the "Split" button at the bottom of the display screen.
(you can also make adjustments by dragging the playback indicator)

Make splits as much as you want and remove unwanted in law clips
    Click on / delete.

    =========================================================
If you import the 4 video clips to DVD Maker... each of them becomes a scene (chapter).

If you want each video clip to have scenes (chapters) you must import them into
Movie Maker and divide them into appropriate pieces and store each one individually
a folder on your hard drive to the WMV format. When you import the WMV files collected
in DVD Maker, each of them becomes a scene (chapter)... you can have up to 18 scenes.
