Comments account file sharing problems

Hello, I am running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit, and I would be grateful for some assistance.

I made the mistake of activation of the account of comments on my computer when I put in place. The guest account is disabled now (from the applet to the Panel control user accounts), but he left a 'Guest' in my user (C:\Users) directory folder.

My problem occurs when I set up the network for sharing a folder or a file in my main user account; the record of the whole guest user gets shared so that any folder or file I share from my main user account. The real problem is that anyone on my network can write and edit anything that is in the folder of the guest user, so, network users can add files voluminous what whatsoever in the directory of the guest user.

I tried to check the permissions of guest user folder and settings of sharing and, from what I see, I should not be facing this problem.

Sharing files in my main user account works as it should.

What should I do?

Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

What should I do?

I would like to delete the profile of the prompt (c:\Users\Guest) folder.

I have four computers in small office. Three see each other, the fourth XP invisable on a Windows network. They all have the same name of "workgroup". and file sharing enabled. I can ping other but cannot get windows network to see?   Number four computer is configured to share files, I ran the wizard several times to double check that the names are the same.  Any suggestion would be appreciated.  James

You left out the part where you tell us what version of Windows is located on each computer. This is important.

What follows is quite old, but still excellent, former MS MVP Malke boards:

Here are the steps of general network troubleshooting. Just cannot apply to your situation, so just take the bits that are. It may seem daunting, but if you follow the steps in the links and suggestions below calmly and consistently, you will have no difficulty to implement your sharing.

Excellent, comprehensive, but easy to understand article on sharing files/printer under Vista. Contains information about sharing printers and files, and the folders: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb727037.aspx

For XP, start by running the Network Setup Wizard the on all machines (see warning in section A below).

Problems sharing files between computers on a network are usually caused by 1) a misconfigured firewall or a firewall neglected (including a dynamic firewall in a virtual private network); or (2) inadvertently run two firewalls such as the firewall of Windows and a third-party firewall. and/or (3) do not have accounts to the same users and passwords on all computers in the workgroup. (4) tries to create actions where the operating system does not.

    A. configure the firewall on all machines to allow traffic to local area network (LAN) as being approved. With the Windows Firewall, it means which allows file sharing / print on the Exceptions tab normally run the XP Network Setup Wizard will take care of this for these machines. The only "witch hunt", it will turn on the XPSP2 Windows Firewall. If you are not running a third-party firewall or you have an antivirus with "Internet Worm Protection" (like Norton 2006/07) which acts as a firewall, you're fine.  With a third-party firewall, I usually set up the allocation of LAN with an IP address range. E.g. would be 192.168.1.0 - 192.168.1.254. Obviously you would substitute your correct subnet. Do not run more than one firewall. DON'T STOP FIREWALLS; CONFIGURE THEM CORRECTLY.

    (B) to facilitate the Organization, put all computers in the same workgroup. This is done from the System applet in Control Panel, the computer name tab.

    C. create the counterpart of the user accounts and passwords on all machines. You do not need to be logged into the same account on all machines and assigned to each user account passwords can be different; accounts/passwords just need to exist and to match on all machines. DO NOT NEGLECT TO CREATE PASSWORDS, EVEN IF ONLY OF SIMPLE. If you want a machine to boot directly to the desktop (a particular user account) for convenience, you can do this. The instructions on this link work for XP and Vista: set up Windows for the connection automatically (MVP Ramesh) - http://windowsxp.mvps.org/Autologon.htm

    D. Si one or more of the computers is XP Pro or Media Center, turn off Simple file sharing (Folder Options > view tab).

    E. create share as you wish. XP Home does not share the users directory or the Program Files, but you can share folders inside those directories. A better choice is to simply use the Shared Documents folder. See the first link above for more information on Vista sharing.

    F. you have the job of file sharing (and tested by exchanging a file between machines), if you want to share a printer connected locally to one of your computers, share of this machine. Then go to the printer mftr Web site. and download the latest drivers for the correct system. Install them on the target machines. The printer must be collected during the installation procedure. If this isn't the case, install the drivers and then use the Add Printer Wizard. In some cases, printers must be installed as local printers, but it is outside this response.

  • SMB file sharing problem when connecting EA6350 to a larger network.

    Hi all

I tried to set up a server of media for my colleagues, but have had problems for the last 3 days.  I searched all possible solutions on various forums and have managed to operate, only to discover the next day that he stopped.  I was able to get it working again, but the same problem occurred and stop randomly with additional problems.

I will now do my best to explain the installation program. Windows 10.

I have a line entering my room, I don't know where will the line nor can I trace it (I guess to a switch where everyone connects to).  When I connect it dirrectly on my laptop I have an internet connection.

My ethernet card is set to automatically get IP & DNS.

    I'm affected: IP: 192.168.68.231 DOOR: 192.168.68.254 subnet: 255.255.255.128 DNS: 8.8.8.8

I bought a Linksys EA6350 set up sharing of media files with a hard drive plugged into the USB port on the router.

I plug in the bathroom line to the WAN port on the router and a cable from my laptop to the Router 1 LAN port and still have web connectivity.  The problem is that no one can access my shared SMB drive since it is on IP:192.168.1.1 and all the other computers are on IP:192.168.68. ***

My router IPv4 connection report is: Auto DHCP, subnet: 255.255.255.128 DOOR: 192.168.68.254, IP:192.168.68.242, DNS:8.8.8.8

I can't to ping other computers in the range * 192.168.68 my laptop and routers ping function.  The firewall of the router is turned off to allow them to connect. But, still no access for someone else on the shared drive because it is IP:192.168.1.1

The way I could make it work until it stopped working randomly the day after was by pluging the line room in LAN 2 port, LAN 1 port is connected to the laptop.  The value of my computer laptop ethernet static with these values: IP: 192.168.68.231 DOOR: 192.168.68.254 subnet: 255.255.255.128 DNS: 8.8.8.8 and changed the configuration in the router for what is in the pictures.

It worked.  I had an internet connection, and people were able to copy movies on the shared drive.  Then it just stops the next day.  The router was no longer able to ping any, but my laptop couldn't yet.  The list of devices on my router tab showed all was connected on the subnet 192.168.68 * but that's all she could do.  I have everything reset, went through the same procedures and then a day later it worked just (if I remember correctly, I've changed the "type of internet connection" on the automatic router to "DHCP").  Only to stop again but this time cut of my Internet connection of laptops until I put the ethernet adapter to obtain automatically IP address and DNS.

I ran out of ideas runs take the router out of the equation and the pluging directly on my laptop HD and share it from there.

Any assistance that can be provided would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

You give the router specified a wrong IP address for the subnet mask of 255.255.255.128.

Valid IP addresses for this subnet is 192.168.68.2 - 192.168.68.127.

  • XP Home file sharing problem

    Hello

I have a home network of three computers, all running WIN XP Home SP2. They are connected by CAT5 cables to a (EDIMAX) router. I set up a home network with file / printer sharing. Usual applications are printer sharing, file transfer and access of files from one computer to another. It worked fine for quite a long time.
Recently, I have a strange phenomenon: PC #B is able to display the directory shared resident on PC #A, is able to open some files (photos), while it does not ('access denied') to open other files. These files can be in a single directory, or even mix - locate some files in a single directory open while others do not.
I have checked the firewall settings, re-established the network - still nothing.
You will appreciate any help / suggestions.
    Thank you

  • PDF opening of file sharing problem

We have a problem where if we have 5 or more PDFs on a DFS file share when we have a Web site from SharePoint, or when it performs a search on the one hand this file, it tries just to open it "craps" outside and does not open.  It appears only with PDF files and only sporadically with 5, but always with 6.  The error appears in Windows 7 by using a server 2003r2 running SharePoint.

I want to allow another writer to collaborate on a project of RH9 Webhelp. The project file is located in a virtual folder:

    MyName$ on ' Grpfs01'(H:))

and the administration system has created a folder mapped to the computer of the other author that allows them to see the contents of the folder.

However, if the other author attempts to open the project, they see the following message is displayed:

Invalid project folder path. The project folder must be a full path (c:\project1\)

That must happen so that we can all two working on this project of WebHelp?

    It's that simple.

    • The drive must be on the hard drive of your machine and the folder must not be shared, if it is then that it is a network drive in RoboHelp's.
    • If two or more people want to work on the same project at the same time, then you need the source code control.

Depending on how your project is structured and what each of you need to work on, splitting the project and work on separate items could be an option, but there is a lot of work, fixing links so that they work cross project. What I'm talking about here is merged help as described on my site.

  • Windows XP Fatal Sys "c000021a" error and file sharing problems

I have a Windows XP pc which has received the following during startup, error message "c000021a... system fatal error of ocx000034 w/status" and that followed several instructions troubleshooting with no resolution. Given that the pc does not start, I wanted to first of all, remove the hard drive in order to try to save the data to another media, before I try to reinstall the OS from the XP installation disk.  Unfortunately I can't access the files due to permissions/access errors and ask for any recommendations. I am a novice not necessarily w/computers, but willing to try and learn something new... without spending $ to a service technician.

This isn't a good idea for troubleshooting and one that tells you to go back to school XP.

Are you able to get into the Recovery Console?

What means the error usually is that somehow the file c:\windows\system32\winlogon.exe has developed missing.  This may occur if your antivirus/antimalware unspecified program examined the file a threat and quarantined (effectively removed) it.

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

If you can get into the Recovery Console, there are copies of the file of winlogon.exe in other places on your system, then here are the commands that I ran the RC to see if you can replace the file:

    Copy c:\windows\system32\dllcache\winlogon.exe c:\windows\system32

    or

    Copy c:\windows\servicepackfiles\i386\winlogon.exe c:\windows\system32

Answered in the affirmative if invited to replace the existing file and then you should see a
message 1 file (s) has been copied.

Remove the CD and on the RC line, enter 'Quit' and the system will restart.

P.S. in the future, never shorten the error messages see you.  There is a lot of error message that are similar, so try not points of suspension (...), text, numbers, etc.  or you might get a response that says «Try...» "and it will help you!

  • How to prevent file sharing automatic connection with the commune iCloud account?

I have access to my Mac remotely and always assumed that if I did not check the box pw to remember when asking username/pw I would always need to enter pw to access a remote volume.  This, of course, is the case usually except that I noticed that I have three computers (home, office, mobile) with the same user name and I can connect to the remote volume by simply entering the IP address of the target computer. I receive no request for pw.  This occurs despite the Macs with different user pw. I went to keychain in public services and did ' t see the pw of file sharing, so I guess they are in iCloud keychain.  All 3 Macs have the same username and the same iCloud account, and I have iCloud Keychain selected on all 3 Macs.  Potential problems would be if someone stole my cell phone when I signed to or if someone at work was playing with my computer after hours - they can then access my home computer (or vice versa). If it is stored in iCloud Keychain, so I don't see an obvious way to change.  So I disabled the option of trousseau in iCloud in system preferences on my laptop, not saved in keychain to my Mac and restarted; When I tried to access my home Mac, it helped to connect without my pw but I have noticed that at the top of the window, text says 'connected as [email protected]'- real username omitted here.  Is anyway to avoid this short of having each Mac journal on an account different iCloud (then would lose Sync calendars etc.). Thank you

  • Problem between Windows XP Home and Windows 7 Starter of file sharing

Hello, I have a problem with file sharing: my desktop computer running Windows XP Home Edition and my netbook runs Windows 7 Starter Edition.

On Windows XP, I shared a folder: Win 7 is able to open the directory and the files in the list, but there is no way I can open any file in the folder XP, nor that I can transfer the any of these files to my netbook.
All I get is an error "access denied."

The XP Workgroup is the same as the 7 home network, and the users have all the privileges on both computers.

Can you help me to sort out what is happening, please?
    Thank you.
    B.

As a first step, you have XP Home, which means that the 'Simple file sharing' is applied on this machine.  In addition, this means that any network connection on your XP Home of any another machine machine is forced to authenticate you as a user 'Guest', regardless of what a privilege that may be the real user.  In from here, it would seem that the 'Guest' user doesn't have privilege for the files or folders that you share.  To resolve this problem, you must change the access permissions to these files.

If you drag (move) files on your computer in your share folder, the origin on the file permissions will be maintained.  On the contrary, I would say that you copy the file to the shared folder by dragging with the right button of the mouse and select 'Copy' instead of 'move '.  A copied file will end with permissions for the destination folder that will be generally more suitable for sharing.

To the files and folders that are already in this folder, to change permissions, you must Access the 'Security' tab under the Properties screen.  In XP Home, this is possible if you log in as administrator in "safe" mode  To start your computer in Safe Mode (repeatedly tap the F8 during the startup key key), connect you as an administrator user, navigate to the file or the folder with problems of access, right-click on it, select 'Properties', select the 'Security' tab and set security such as 'everyone' (or 'guest') has the privilege of access you want.

  • O0! file sharing 0o download programs connection problem o0! 0o

I use Windows Vista SP2, which comes integrated with the HP notebook pc.

The problem is that some file-sharing programs, download make their installation normally, but they cannot download any file (there is progress in the download) and you can tell that your can not connect to the internet.

I'm not stupid, these programs are not blocked by a firewall, and there are also programs their families do their job properly, example:
    * utorrent is available for download.
    * Unable to download bitcomet.

    Please don't let ME DOWN

    Hi GRD-89,

    · You have problem downloading a particular file for bitcomet?

    · What is the exact error message you get when you try to download?

    · What browser do you use to download the files?

I suggest you to check if you are able to download other websites other than utorrent.

As you said that you are able to download from utorrent, it means that there is no problem with the operating system, but you can delete all the temporary files in temp, prefetch, %Temp% and folders on your computer and then try to download and check if it works.

To do this, follow these steps:

Type %temp%, temp, prefetch in the start search box > press ENTER.

    2. delete all the files in these folders and leave these files which do not deleted.

You can also run Disk Cleanup to reduce the number of unnecessary files on your hard disk to free up disk space.

    Delete files using disk cleanup

    Hey guys;

I'm trying to create a folder (photo album) and then to store images in this folder.

In the development environment, it seems (I could be wrong) that I cannot write directly to the file:///accounts/1000/shared/camera folder to create a subfolder, but am limited to the access development environment (file:///accounts/1000/appdata/appname.debug.testDevrecords

Is this the case?  The paths change when I publish the mode?

She stood in my development.  I am making the album to take a picture, then the picture in the album created.  I am trying to use the actionscript codethen see the photo but I don't seem to have access to the location where I created the image.

    Any ideas out there.

    Thanks for any help.

Check out this post for information on access to the shared area via the AIR APIs, note however that some of the debates made refers to the old limits from the beginning of the SDK which no longer apply.  The basic idea of the file. applies.

All ping each other perfectly, networked computers have access to internet through powerful router, each of them receives predefined IP from the dhcp server on the router automatically, but still can not see each other in a working group (it was fixed accurately on each machine). I also tried to createa join and sever a homegroup on win 7 and installed the responder LLTD Link Layer Topology Discovery () I would like to see finally a xp machine on network card (without access and not in 'network')
Advanced sharing options have the value recommended, firewall is disabled and uninstalled antivirus software.

    However
I access an XP machine fom the other and can access files of Win 7 on my IPad, but neither Win 7 see XP or vice-verse, and when I try in win 7 to access its own share files on himself through the 'network' says network error with the code «0x800704cf» "Convenience store" did not help.
