  We currently know two scenarios in which Acrobat abnormally end when you click Preview the output, or already in the output window, both under MacOS 10.x. We are not aware of the problem ever occurring under any Windows operating system version.

  Scenario #1 - PDF file has a mode of RGB output such as a PDF/A file created with an sRGB output mode (the default). In this case, simply by clicking on the release preview will immediately cause Acrobat to terminate abnormally.

  Scenario #2 - the PDF has no intention of output or an intention to output CMYK (typically for PDF / X files). If you open a preview of the output, see you the preview window of output without any problem. However, if you try to change the profile of Simulation of the current CMYK profile to any profile RGB, Acrobat, abnormally terminates.

  The good news is that we found the source of the problem and internally fixed it; the fix will appear in the first maintenance release of Acrobat DC.

  Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forum.  I could use a little clarification on your question.  Can you explain the situation in a bit more detail?  What I read, is that when you click the icon for your antivirus it basically does nothing (POP maybe a splash screen but then does not start).  Well, you say you are doing a clean boot.  This could very well be why your antivirus software does not work properly.  Clean boot disable start programs.  If your antivirus has need of one of the elements that has been turned off, which could cause the problem.  I suggest to turn off boot or go through msconfig and find everything that is related to your antivirus and turn them back on.
