  I have compaq presario CQ60-419WM with processor AMD Sempron (http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01753032) and I want to upgrade.

  There isn't any processor update for you that will be worth the effort. The one you have is 2 GHz and the T3400 2.16.

  You can virtually none of the PENRYN 45nm lithography processors put in it, the optimal processor, you can upgrade is the Intel core 2 duo t9500. I have the same laptop and I have the next step down from what is the Intel core 2 duo processor t9300. There is no complete list of the processors that it will support the lists that you will find are incomplete at best even Intel does not update their information. Go to intel.com and search PENRYN in a search more people you can use, you need to compare to ensure that.

  My computer is a Compaq Presario V2410CA series Notebook 2005 that is running Microsoft Windows XP, home edition, SP2. Find it me coming again, No Manual of real user and No restore CD. There are two CD: (1) operating system CD for Windows XP Home Edition, SP2, and (2) the Application and Driver Recovery DVD. While they inspected the "My Computer" folder, I see that the hard drive has No partitions. I have, to the best of my abilities, exhausted all remedies the user guides and help and have failed in my attempt to perform a factory restore. in other words, for any delete on the hard drive and restore power back to factory settings.   You need to boot from the CD of the operating system. Put in the drive and restart your laptop. You can receive a command prompt type any key to boot from CD on on/off, or it can boot from it automatically. Choose to install, once reach you the screen where your hard drive is displayed choose to format and reinstall. After installing XP, the driver cd & Application run.

  There is not really a valid upgrade for you option. Has a Celeron processor models also have a motherboard which do no accept a Core (i3, i5, etc.), so you are stuck with maybe a little faster but still lame processor but nothing that will get you where you want to be. The video is a complete non-starter. There is no way in the world to do something with it. Your laptop is to make the work of the office and internet and your best bet is to sell and get something with a graphic power and treatment.

  I have a problem with my laptop start-up where windows can sometimes load and run, but other times I gives me the option to "Repair Windows" or "Start Windows normally".

  I got the message "boot device found" or "Please install and opertaing system."

  Well, I know that it is a responsible OS that I wouldn't be able to sometimes start in windows successfully.

  Primary hard disk Self Test I ran and returned the following results:

  End of the test.

  What does all this mean?

  My hard drive is in failure or default and on there way out, or y at - it cable losing hard disk connection.

  I would recommend you replace the HARD drive because he's looking for as you HDD is dying and that's why you have this problem starting.

  I'm looking to upgrade the processor in this laptop as the base processor (the processor Intel Celeron 900 2.2GHz) is simply not enough for my needs.  I did my own research and I found (to be confirmed) this list of compatible processors purportedly in the service manual for my laptop.   It may "work", but as I said the GL40 simply has no circuits to take full advantage of the advanced features of the high range processors. Also no he don't mention not all i-series processors in the list. They are all Core 2 Duo T4200 except. Your Celeron 900 is one heart. Even a Pentium dual as say the T4200 will be much better and will be fully compatible with the GL40 chipset and very cheap to start.
