  Hey everybody,

  So I just joined here to see if anyone can help with my problem, because frankly, I'm out of options now about two weeks asking friends and colleagues and searching the Internet for answers to similar problems. I tried twice with the information I found on this site for quite some time and it does not work for me!

  In any case, I have a HP Compaq Presario CQ56 laptop. It has been implemented correctly when I bought it, everything worked perfectly. I managed to catch a virus that prevented me from even turn on my computer (which is strange, because I'm not a fool with computers, and I know what not to do/download sites to visit), so I had to restart my computer to stock, I used my Windows 7 disc, partitions formatted and installed windows again.

  Now, for some reason it doesn't connects wireless Internet. It connects when I have an ethernet cable connected, but it is not all networks, as shown in this screenshot:

  So you see my problem it is very frustrating. I don't know what is the cause, but I guess it must be a driver problem? Which is why I write here, if this is indeed in the wrong section, please accept my apologies.

  If someone could shed some light on the problem for me, or even to resolve, I'd be very grateful it is extremely annoying. As I said, it works fine when I have my laptop connected to the internet, when I'm in College, but when I come on a weekend, I can't put my laptop, because I only WiFi at home.

  You are the very welcome, Hayley.

  The problem is that the needs of the wireless (network controller) one adapter driver installed and here is the link for the driver you need.

  Once you install the driver above, the wireless should work just fine.

  According to the Compaq Presario Maintenance and Service of Guide matrix on page 2 (http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02657369), my Compaq Presario CQ56-110US laptop supports up to 8 GB of system memory, but by following a few lines to the bottom of the guide, it lists the configuration information that tops out at a total of 4 GB. If I remove the 2 existing memory chips (1 GB each) and install two 4GB chips, my laptop will support the upgrade to 8 GB?

  Unfortunately, your model will not support 2 x 4 GB of memory.

  This is because it is equipped with an Intel Celeron processor, your laptop is the chipset Mobile Intel GL-40.

  This chipset only supports a maximum of 2 x 2 GB memory.

  By the way... 2 x 4 GB memory DDR2 would cost a lot of money.  It was the cheapest I could find.

  I'm sorry for what happened, I don't think you did anything just a crazy accident.

  You'll need to order the factory created to disk for this computer. If you reside in the United States or to the Canada, you can contact HP technical support to the 1-800-474-6836 or if you reside in another country, you can click on this link and then click on your country and the number is provided.

  If you have access to another computer, you can order them online.

  1. click on this link

  2. click on drivers and software

  3. Insert the product number or model number

  4. choose your current operating system

  5 scroll down to "order recovery Media.

  Because you have Windows 8 disk must be there unless the computer is so new that they were not placed on the site yet.

  I have a compaq presario cq56 115 - dx unworking. I decided it would be cheaper to just get another phone and put the old hard drive in this document, to recover all my data. I was wondering if this drive would be held also in other models of HP? How would this knowledge. I tried searching on google, but not luck. This hard disk can even go in other models?

  I understand that you have decided to buy a new laptop and want to get the data from the old in the new book.

  Most computer laptop computer laptop are standard size so you shouldn't have a problem with the installation in a laptop, but I would look for one with a second drive Bay.  If you were to install as a boot drive in a new HP notebook that could void your warranty.
