We need to know exactly what is 'this device' with the model or part number or at least identify the processor, so we can try to understand it. If it is CQ57-200 series can take 8 GB of DDR3 - 1333 for AMD and Intel models:

    CQ57-200 manual series

I also looked at the manual of series CQ57-400 and another manual it says also maximum is 8 GB DDR3 - 1333 SO - DIMM (2 x 4 GB modules).

  • Compaq Presario SR2009UK - upgrade Windows 7

    Dear all

I have a Compaq Presario SR2000UK and am looking to upgrade to Windows 7

This machine had Windows XP installed, but since the end of the Support I got in trouble, decided to upgrade to Windows 7.

First of all, I updated the Bios on the Hp website 3.24 Version dated 2007-06-29

Then using clean installed Windows 7 Ultimate 32 Bit SATA hard drive.

Installation went perfectly with 2 partitions (reserved system & Operating system) windows implementation

Once windows had started active device manager and all the drivers were like OK.

Restart the computer several times since the Start button of windows without problem.

    Now comes the question

What computer was off nights windows does not restart.

1 press button and the bios blue screen power light, I hear the startup hard drive work then the screen goes black and turns on the windows logo, but after a second the screen flashes and blue bios screen on again once him lights up the screen Windows Recovery Manager saying computer failed to start and get the 2 options.

    1 Let's repair (recommended) windows

    2 start Windows normally

Option 1 passes through the long process of repairing then windows starts.

Option 2 tries to start windows but crashes before the color of windows logo appears.

My other option is to restart, and then press F8 for advanced options, and then on starting in safe mode that work very well.

Restart windows start button and the machine is in reverse OK until it is turned off for a few hours, then I'm back to the same problem.

Have you checked the battery Cmos and is OK

Think there may be a Bios problem but couldn't find any version after 3.24

    Thank you very much John

    Specifications:

A look at the motherboard and I see at least 3 capacitors that are starting to develop at the top so that you can not see the cross in silver leaf.

Try things during these days and the problem now is getting worse.

Thanks for all your help and your will has now seek a cheap replacement card to match the processor and ram.

  • Compaq Presario CQ5600F: upgrade to M2N68-(Narra6)

Hello. I have a desktop PC Compaq Presario CQ5600F which took a power surge. I use Windows 10 Pro and I'd like to update the Pegatron M2N68-(Narra5) motherboard M2N68-(Narra6). I saw some of these for the sale of the mobo. Can someone point me in the right direction. I'm trying to find the drivers and perhaps installation information. The motherboards I've seen are either used, rebuilt, or "other nine" with no accessories.

    Hi @stan7926,

Thank you for your participation in the Forums of HP Support! It is a great location to get resolutions and interact with experts from the community. I understand that you need information on an upgrade of the motherboard of your PC. I'll be happy to help you with this.

A remarkable work was done by your little research on upgrading motherboard for your desktop PC before you post your question in the forums of HP. It's always a great pleasure to work with tech-savvy and technically customers sounds like you. Kudos to you for this. I am amazed at your technical skills and levels of technical knowledge.

First of all, the specifications are very clear on the HP website. It supports "M2N68-(Narra5)" with the drivers, BIOS and other updates available on the HP Web site. About the upgrade to M2N68-(Narra6), it may be possible, but before you buy the product, I would suggest that you contact a technician on-site that this motherboard is not listed by HP as a compatible Web site.

I thank you greatly for posting your question on the forums of HP and for giving us the platform to help you. You are a customer of HP and we greatly thank you for doing business with HP.

It is important that you are having problems with the bios and driver incompatibilities on the motherboard and windows 10 Therefore, it is recommended that you contact a local technician and check the compatibility of the motherboard before making any attempt to improve it. We cannot have the bios for it and corresponding drivers. Once again, you will need to visit the websites of 3rd party hardware manufacturers to update the bios and other drivers.

I hope this helps! Please let me know how it goes. If it helps, please mark this message as 'accept as a Solution. If you need help, let me know and I will gladly do everything I can to help. Now carefully and have a great week ahead.

  • Compaq presario sr5518f upgrade processors

First of all, I apologize if I do not write in the correct section.  A little new here.

in any case, I'm going to completely overhaul my Compaq Presario SR5518F.  I'll get a new graphic/video card, power supply, and processor.

Speaking of the processor, I have a question for someone who would know the upgrade of processors.

The specs of my PC (which can be accessed HERE) said I can move to an Intel Core 2 Duo E7xxx.  I'm looking at upgrading to an Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 processor which has close to 3.0 Ghz (2.8 to be precise) of the operating speed.

The question I have, is the Intel Core 2 Duo processor E7400 compatiable for my Compaq Presario computer motherboard?  I have never replaced or upgraded forever, and so I want to make sure I'm making the right decisions when buying upgrades.

I would appreciate your help or you guys could give me advice.   Thank you and have a nice!

    Hello

As you can see from the following link:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01386897

It supports Core 2 Duo E7xxx (Wolfdale-M) CPU means that it will support CPU E7400 but you must update the BIOS to make sure.

    Kind regards.

  • Compaq Presario SR5710F upgrade the video upon hearing the motherboard cannot handle high power supp

What is the best graphics card upgrade which can my Compaq Presario SR5710F can support? I'm ready to upgrade the power also, but hear that the motherboard do not put anything above 350 watts regardless of power.

You can install any PCIe x 16 video card you want. The limiting factor is going to be the power supply. More power the longer video card POWER supply. About what you hear about the motherboard, I found nothing to that effect. To qoute request-leo,' I heard a matter of concern that a power high power can somehow 'forcing' the power on the computer, resulting in overheating and burnout. Nothing could be further from the truth. A power supply provides power in response to the need; It does not matter where power grow. If your computer only needs 100 watts, then a 500 Watt power supply will only provide 100 watts. Why have a 500 Watt power supply? For the use of 'pic' (sometimes material will require 'sudden' power, as at the beginning upward or under heavy load) and for future expansion. »

It is better to have too much power too littleand to get the right size. By that I mean the physical size - come in many standard sizes out there, and they are not interchangeable.

  • Compaq Presario c700 laptop RAM... Blue screen!

Hello, I recently removed vista and upgarded for Win7 32 bit. I tried to add 4 GB of RAM, due to the factory 1 GB, it came with.  However I had a blue error screen.  After that, I installed only 1 of / key of 2 GB of RAM and it worked.

My quetsion is, I need 4 GB of RAM for this c700, should I update the Bios for Win 7. By doing so the c700 I would like to install 4 GB of RAM and works?

Well, I just told you that you could improve it to maximum 2 GB, it is scalable.  This model is an old model of value, so if you are wanting to make all the upgrades (RAM, Windows 8.1) - I would seriously consider to put this money to replacement.

  • Compaq Presario 2545US upgrade (DC970A) CPU, compatible CPU?

I have a HP Pavilion nx9010 (DV134U) for parts for my Compaq Presario 2545US (DC970A). It's practically a twin, internal differences only being their mothers and processor cards. The Presario's 31KT9MB0030 system board and CPU Pentium 4 d 2.40 GHz (SL6RZ). The Pavilion has 31KT9MB0056 system board and CPU Pentium 4 d 2.80 GHz (SL6PF). My question is whether I would be able to run the nx9010 CPU in the 2545US without a critical thermal problems. They both have the same 3-fan and heatsink of huge heat cooling system.

Any help, advice and information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

According to some old posts here by Clinton Tam, it seems that the Presario will work until a 2.80 GHz CPU P4 - D. In the manual, in the list of replaceable parts, it was available with other processors P4 - D. I saw no motive P4s. In the list of spare parts on the HP Business Support site for the nx9010, it was available with several processors P4 - D, not the P4s Mobile only. The difference is in the motherboards. The motherboard in the 31KT9MB0030 Presario 2545US (326682-001) and those in the Pavilion nx9010 is 31KT9MB0056 (344178 001). 30 is not the voltage regulator / VRM necessary for the performance of a portability, or Mobile P4. 56 the fact. Thus, the Presario I can only run the P4 - D processors and the nx9010 that I can run simultaneously P4 - D and M - P4 CPU.

  • Compaq Presario CQ5500Y: Compaq Presario SSD upgrade

Original 500 GB drive HARD shows signs of failure eminent.

I cloned successfully the reader to a new 400 GB disk using NORTON GHOST.

(I know this drive is smaller than the original, but less than 30GB was used on the original)

Anyway, the new drive would not start.

Assuming that the problem may come from the BONES associated with the license, I ordered all of the Compaq recovery disks.

Meanwhile the recovery disk set arrive, I bought a 120 GB Sandisk SSD.

(Again, I know that the 120 GB SSD is smaller than the original 500 GB HARD disc that came with the computer, but I do not plan to fill even 50%).

Anyway, The Recovery Disc Set arrived and I tried to use it on the new 120 GB SSD Sandisk card.

The process seems to be okay, all 3 discs of the series seem to copy and then the computer restarts and a screen displaying the files fly across the screen from one folder to the other stays there forever.

I waited 15 hours and came back and I can still see:

Fly across the screen, files from one folder to another folder.

The drive activity light flashes, but of course, there is a problem.

    Some possible facts/related information:

The SSD is detected in the BIOS.

The good SSD checks, a "Smart" BIOS Diagnostics

I can't find anywhere in the BIOS to disable the AHCI, it only shows SATA or IDE.

Current Bios version is 5.5.5, and I couldn't find an updated BIOS anywhere.

Current memory (RAM) is 4 GB (2x2gb), which was an upgrade because the machine was purchased.

Can someone tell me please how to get beyond this problem?

    Greetings,

I use the Paragon Professional Disk Imaging software.

Try Macrium Reflect free. Disk cloning is also included in the free version.

    See you soon!

I think your problem could definitely be caused by memory.  This is recommended by Crucial memory memory .  Read the whole page and go to the links provided to ensure that you get all the information.

Another element that may cause the gel is the power supply unit (PSU).  Here's a guide to help you troubleshoot it.

    Hi Ryan,

Contact Crucial and Crucial official recommendation.  If you buy directly from Crucial, then they will stand behind their products.

Your first consideration should be Support HP or HP sales during the consideration of upgrades or replacement of memory. If you want to consider other manufacturers of the best way to avoid memory problems is to contact one of the leading manufacturers of memory. I would recommend that you try the tools of these manufacturers: Corsair, Kingston andCrucial. Once you have determined the DIMMs that you need, then contact commercial or technical support to check that you have selected the correct DIMMS. If you buy directly from manufacturers, then they will stand behind their products.
