Compaq presario cq61: change the boot sequence

I have 10 Windows upgrade on my compaq Presario cq61 free. I want to do a clean install of Windows 10. I downloaded the tool of Microsoft Media, made a key USB and DVD containing the clean install. I am told that the use of the flash player, I have to change the boot sequence in the bios. I tried everything from ESC, all numbers F and LED to try to enter the bios and all have failed. Told me that all I had to do with the DVD was just put it in and start the computer and the laptop would boot from the DVD and I could make my own installation from there. Which also failed. The only thing I have not tried is downgrade to Windows 7, affecting Windows 7 back to factory settings, then reinstall the free update of Windows 10. I would not have to go through all if I mostly because I bought the laptop from a friend and it was installed at the factory of Windows 7 and I don't got no disc software to the computer so I don't want to screw up and drop windows 7 without the appropriate software reinstall to match the product key.

Any help to enter in the bios or advice that could help me reach my goal would be greatly appreciated.

Hello

Here are some other suggestions.

1. start the machine in Windows 10.

Open settings and select System.  Select food and sleep, and then click additional power settings - in the next window, click on "Choose what the power button" in the left pane.

In the next window, click on "Change settings that are currently unavailable" (close), then Remove the check mark from the box against 'Turn on a quick start (recommended) '.  Click on the button Save the settings, and then close any open windows and stop the laptop by right clicking on the icon from the Start Menu, then select prompt (Admin) and click 'Yes' to the uac prompt.

Type (or copy and paste) the following command (including spaces) and click Enter.

Shutdown /s /t 0

Tap on the ESC key as soon as you turn it on and see if it will now access the Start Menu.

2 try to connect a keyboard external usb and see if this will allow you to access the Start Menu.

Kind regards

There are a few different ways to access a page of options boot menu at startup

Bios legacy would use the delete key

    UEFI BIOS would use F8

Each you could enter the bios and select the or change the first device to boot cd / dvd drive is usually first "inline"

Some uefi bios and or install uefi, you may enter win - 10 or 8 - 8.1 and turn off the quick start first in = power options change what the button of power before you could even get into the bios because of the characteristics of secure of the two of them start.

  • Cannot change the boot sequence in the bios

    Hello world!

I use vmware fusion 3.1.1 (282344) (in fact has happened since I started from 3.0). A home edition of Windows XP is installed in the bootcamp partition and is used as the guest operating system. When I start Windows XP, it always first try to boot from the network, which takes about 1 min (this can be ignored by hitting the ESC key however). Even if I enter the bios settings, the starting sequences is not editable, where "everything on this menu is not editable in user mode. If all items require changes, consult your supervisor system"is written. However, no password supervisor and of course, I'm not using the 'user '. Does anyone have any ideas on this?

PS: a full Linux guest OS (installed in fusion and is wrapped up as a file) has no problem to change the boot sequence.

    Best regards

All items of this menu cannot be changed in user mode. If all items require changes, consult your supervisor system

Weird, I never heard of this message before. You get this when you start merging, not in native mode? I would have asked if someone had made changes to the BIOS settings until you got to the virtual machine, except that you said it's Boot Camp, so I think it's less likely.

You can try to change the boot order in the Virtual Machine > settings > advanced > boot device.

  • Compaq Presario CQ61, unable to boot the laptop

Compaq Presario CQ61 running Windows 7 Home Premium (build 7601) bought about 4 years ago.

Computer failed to restart after a period of sleep.  I suspect that it doesn't have an automatic restart after automatic installation of an update - it's only a guess because I have no access to the computer at the moment, but I had a similar problem recently - on this occasion, I got a 'Safe Mode' start - by pressing F8 repeatedly gave me access to the appropriate screen.  I've implemented subsequently by restoring the system to a point just before a automatic installation of a critical Windows Update, and that seemed to do the trick.

On this occasion the F8 route has no effect on the problem; the 'caps lock' and 'NumLock' continually of the blink just of LED (i.e. not a limited number of times), the fan starts, but there is no other sign of life.  I tried a hard restart, but without result.  I also removed and replaced memory, but once again no effect.

    Can you please advise.

I'm so sorry I couldn't help you solve the problem, but maybe you could try to free the keyboard, nothing will happen if you do not lose the cpu and tight again. I know that the keyboard one is hard, persevering, best wishes.

  • Satellite problem BIOS L750 - cannot change the boot sequence

    Hello reader/answering my questions.
I am having trouble with my 750 ODN bios. This bios is an official update (3.6) from the center of support, and almost everything has been fine since (the plot thickens!). I decided one day I want to dual boot with linux, in particular Fedora (this is unrelated to this though).

But, when I burned the disc and tried to direct (too test) boot the boot order has been on hard drive, first of all, I found! I rebooted and pressed f12 - did not work.
I tried to delete and escape - neither worked. Then, I tried all the f keys - none of them worked.
Whenever he took me to the Windows Start menu, and I explored it and I could not find anything.

It is also important to mention that I'm under Win 7 SP1.
I tried both PLoP and osloader (too boot from the dvd) - neither worked.
I also do not remember what the button to start the bios was originally - Oops!

Also toshiba with instructions logo never appears.
I would really just change the order of boot however, the rest of the bios I don't need access too much right now.

A separate issue is that Windows randomly decides he wants to check my hard drive, which takes forever, and he won't until he arrives to check it out. I think it may need medical help.

But, no help, a qualified doctor or not, would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance
    Mitchell

    Hello

    > I also don't remember what the button to start the bios was originally - Oops!

Pressing F2 by turning on the device could help you access the BIOS.
But you do not need to change the boot order in the BIOS. You can do it by pressing F12. This should be done immediately after you have turned on the laptop.
Then the start menu appears and you can choose the right boot device.

    Does it function?

  • VMware Workstation BIOS 9 - cannot change the boot sequence

I have a Windows 2003 server that has almost zero space on the C drive, so I'm trying to start a utility disk so I can I repartition.

HOWEVER... F12 not letting me NOT select a different boot device. If I go into the BIOS and go to the start menu, I see the hard disk and not the CD is at the top of the list and there is no way to change the boot order. Up, down and '+' and '-' keys don't do. The machine is a version that compatible with 6-7, but I shouldn't have to level 9 (I think, anyway).

The boots of the virtual machine so fast but after that everything a 100 attempts I can't else primary hard drive to boot first.

    TIA

    Kevin

With VMware Workstation (or at least tab of the virtual machine) closed, add

    bios.bootDelay = "5000".

to the virtual machine's .vmx file. This will add a 5 second delay for the startup process that will allow you to hit the "ESC" key to the start menu and to attach an ISO or CD image to the virtual machine. Make sure that the virtual CD-ROM presents itself as 'Connected' before proceeding with the selection of the boot device.

  • How to change the boot sequence?

How can I change the sequenze boot, if it is not possible to open the boot with 'F12 menu '?

I m wondering why you can't access the start menu?
What laptop and how Windows system you have?

Usually, you can change the startup mode in the BIOS settings. To access the BIOS you have to press the F2 key
But you can also press a particular button while you turn on/off the device to boot from a single module.

    For example:
    C button-> CD/DVD drive
    Key U-> USB FDD
    N key-> internal LAN

  • Cannot change the boot sequence

    Hello

I'm trying to change my boot order, so that I can boot from a DVD on my laptop Pavilion (E8A72UA #ABA).  I pressed ESC to get the boot menu.  The menu says:

    F1 system information

    F2 System Diagnostics

    F9 boot device Options

    F10 BIOS Setup

    F11 recovery system

    ENTER - continue starting

I tried pressing just F9 and Fn + F9 to get Boot Options and no job.  When I press Fn + F1 I can go to the screen that displays system information.  However, F2 and F9, F10 and F11 do nothing.  When I press Enter, it boots into Windows.

I am doing something wrong or there at - it something wrong with the laptop?  The function keys work fine when I start in Windows, so I don't know that the function keys are not violated.

    Thanks in advance.

  • ORA-02283: cannot change the boot sequence number

    Hi guys,.

I want a sequence of changes starting number of 127657 to 8211200... But im not able to change the starting number please someone can help me.

    current is
    CREATE SEQUENCES WH1. INVOICENUM_SEQ
    START WITH 127657
    INCREMENT BY 1
    NOMINVALUE
    NOMAXVALUE
    NOCYCLE
    NOCACHE
    ALL

    ALTER SEQUENCE WH1. INVOICENUM_SEQ
    START WITH 8211200
    INCREMENT BY 1
    NOMINVALUE
    NOMAXVALUE
    NOCYCLE
    NOCACHE
    ALL

Yes - the norm is to change the increment to a number that will make the bridge, a single call to NEXTVAL and then change the increment to return to what it was.

ALTER SEQUENCE mySeq INCREMENT 8000000; -- use the value that is the difference between the current value and what you want it to be

    SELECT mySeq.nextval from dual;

    ALTER SEQUENCE mySeq INCREMENT 1;

  • How can I change the boot sequence in xps8900

Hello, I cloned my hard drive to a new ssd then installed ssd using acronis. all right. computer recognises hhd as drive e. and ssd as drive c it starts on the hard drive I believe because it is not faster and (b) I heard the typical of the noise the hard drive manufacturer (ROAR) was in the bios and I lost, tried to get into legacy mode, but just, that did not work well.

I am at a loss of what to do next

the numbers and letters are most likely the model for each reader numbers. The SSD is listed as a HD as the bios will use this designation to differentiate them from the CD drive or optical. the worst that will happen is the computer will boot but fail to load windows, in which case you go back into the bios and select the other disk.

Hello, I don't seem to be able to change the boot sequence for my 5100 satellite. I tried pressing C, F2, F12 and any other allmost touches possible.

I also tried pressing ESC to access the bios. When I Press esc, I wonder the password that I created long time ago. When I entered the password all that shows on the screen is "Press F1 to enter normal setup" or something like that, if I have not seen to be able to enter the bios.

Does anyone know a solution to my problem? I need to change the boot sequence

    Hi Lethin,

I think your laptop is "Legacy free" which means that you have no way to directly access the BIOS.

Any updates or changes to your BIOS must be made of in Windows.

    Hello Susan

It will be interesting to know what model of laptop you have. By the description of the problem, it is always useful to know the exact model of laptop.

When you turn off your laptop, press F12 and let us know exactly what is happening. By the way: can you explain what happen when you try to change the boot order in the BIOS settings?
