Compaq Presario does boot

The keyboard lights on startup, and I get the Compaq splash screen on my monitor.

But none of the keys work including the F start keys.

I disconnected and reconnected everything.

No CD in the drive.

Any link to a menu troubleshooting?

You nailed it. I tried to boot with a USB keyboard instead of a ps2 and it worked. Might have something to do with me installing a paved bamboo to write this weekend. Thank you.

  • Boot from USB on Compaq Presario V2610

    Hello

I have an old machine on which I intend to install Lubuntu 13.10 replacing, which is the following.

    Compaq Presario V2610 notebook PC

    PhoenixBIOS F.25

    BIOS settings:

    Advanced > Boot Order >-hard drive >

    BIOS hard drive Option:

    ! IC25N060... (I disabled the HARD drive via the '! ')

AVIXE PDU01_2G 67A2.0 (I have a USB 2.0 flash drive that also supports 1.0, which the BIOS sees it, and it is recognized)

The BIOS is configured to try hard as third in the boot order, even the default normal setting.

I confirmed that this USB itself and its distribution Lubuntu is valid. Lubuntu stops on her successfully, on another machine manufacturer and BIOS. However, when I try to boot from the USB port on the Presario, I see:

PXE - E61: Media test failure, check cable of

PXE - M0F: Exit PXE ROM

If I connect a LAN cable to remove this message, I see this instead:

CLIENT MAC ADDR: (mac address) GUID: (guid)

    DHCP... (spinning "/")

PXE - E53: no boot file received

PXE - M0F: Exit PXE ROM

I didn't, it should be a cable LAN by the BIOS for a standalone install USB, but in all cases, the BIOS doesn't seem to be reading this viable USB Lubuntu drive. I tried both ports on the machine.

I also tried a Win7-32 bit USB, via USB from the separate manufacturer a - DATA. In both cases, the Presario BIOS recognizes the device, the name of his unique manufacturer, but fails to boot on it.

Can you let me know what I am doing wrong?

    Hello

I solved the problem on my own. It turns out that boot prescription must be set up in the BIOS, rather than simply turn off the HARD disk write via «!» F5/F6 accomplishes that.

    BIOS hard drive Option:

AVIXE PDU01_2G 67A2.0 (F6 to swap the order)

    IC25N060...

The USB key is then recognized at startup.

    Sorry for the post.

  • CQ57-425ER: Compaq Presario CQ57 does support UEFI?

I have Compaq Presario CQ57-425ER and you want to use Windows 8.1 GPT disk. I made a bootable USB key with Rufus (TPG-UEFI chosen option), but my laptop can not boot from the flash drive. There is a message - no boot device. Among the drivers for my laptop, I found an environment to help HP Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI).  Here is a description: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55477.html. I found 2 interesting points in this description: supports GPT disks and provides support for the installation of the UEFI System Partition. I tried to run this flash with windows on another laptop and it works fine. But in my laptop, I always get the message that there is no bootable media. Yes, there is a support of UEFI in CQ57? And if so, what should I do?

    Hello

This model of PC has limited support for Windows 8/8.1.  It does not support the GPT or UEFI 2.3.1 or later version.  It is the MBR only.

  • Keyboard and trackpad which does not Compaq presario CQ60

    Help!

My keyboard and trackpad on my Compaq Presario CQ60 laptop do not react and do not have external devices to see if it is an internal matter. Cannot restart in Mode safe as the keyboard is unresponsive, however it allows me to type my password to access vista! I think I just lock the computer, but do not know how unlock, various forums have specified relocation drivers etc, but I am unable to do this without functional keyboard and do not know how if I pressed a key combination that caused it. I don't know if it's a problem of Vista or Compaq/HP.

    Immensely from any help appreciated!

as far as I know, if you can type your password on the login screen, then the keyboard works, if the problem appears after the connection or it will appear when you are on your desktop screen, it may be a problem of operating system or a problem with corruption of user account

the keyboard would be a hardware failure, if when you turn on your nb, there will be no ligts on the keyboard will make the capslock key does not illuminate or does not at all as long as you turn on the nb

for the touchpad, try to check if its or disable... If there is a light orange above the touch pad then sound off, toggle the switch the light to turn to blue...

so before anything else... TRY THIS FIRST!

    1. remove the battery

    2 disconnect the power adapter

    3. no power supply at all, press in and hold the button for 1 min... Be sure that it will be 1 min...

technically, we call this HARD RESET... This process would free electricity static that could be included on the power button spout these electrostatic charges sometimes causes harware malfunctionalities...

then it this step does not work... do this...

try to go into safe mode by continuously pressing F8 during startup (press F8 when you see the hp invent screen), then you will be directed to advance startup options... Choose last known good config... Then, it will boot to the last known good setting...

Please let me know if this does not work...

Otherwise, ' choose repair your computer "on the start options... Choose the American keyboard layout... so if asked for a user name and password, you can change the administrator username username and then put your password... If you do not use any password leave it blank... then choose Startup Repair...

Please let me know if this does not work...

    I hope this helps...

    Hello *. *

    First time here...

    Compaq Presario Notebook Win7 32-bit - 4 GB DDR2, aged about 3 years?

A customer brought this with virus / malware issues - arranged.

On start-up, the bios made regular account that the HP OEM battery must renew. Not difficult technical question here.

Powered on the laptop without the battery and the pc has stopped completely after a few seconds.  No beeps, no LED. Suspecting power, the original showed 19.* * volts. Ok.

Bidirectional p - s for another check the jack plug connection. No change, tried jumping jack plug connection.

Out two-way RAM for good, no change.
Two-way 2032 battery of the bios for good, not change.
    Removed HARD drive, no change.

Non-powered from DC or battery, depressed and button who was held for at least a minute, without change.

The bios battery removed for 30 minutes, without change.

    Fan do not get stuck.

    No attached devices.

    Remarkable:

Without battery : white DC power LED stays on for about 5 seconds. And then off.

Old battery included: white DC power LED does not illuminate.

I did not remove the optical drive, because I think it's ok. Works fine (or used to).

I am familiar with this series of Presario laptops / laptops and while I have tried everything I know, I was wondering if, before I have conviction as having a short-circuit motherboard / failure, is there anything else I can try with this model of HP laptop before I am progressing with the send for repair of component.

    Thanks in advance

  • Compaq presario cq57-339WM does not recognize the drive as a bootable disk recovery

Compaq presario cq57-339WM does not recognize the drive as a boot drive recovery, I'm sorry people, I searched and I entered the job in New York as a matter of research. Operating system is 7 Home premium. Hard drive went bad, so I rplaced with new. I have had I have windows image backup, but the wizard could not find the hard drive. I ordered the HP poped the first of the two recovery disks, but the machine does not recognize the drive as a bootable disk recovery. I did factory retrieve records a large number of times on computers with different operating systems and have never seen this. TNA

  • Compaq presario cq71, sudden death, does not start

Compaq presario cq71-140ea. was fine yesterday but this morning it will not start. It turns on, displays of compaq on the screen and then does nothing. Have you tried pressing f10 to change the sequence of boot for the relocation, but it just says bios configure options at the bottom of the screen and will not actually in it. All keys have the same effect. Says on the bottom, what is it but isn't "doing". Does anyone have any ideas on how I can him get up and running?

Ruling on a BIOS corrupted, removing the CMOS (exhibit) just battery resets the default settings for the BIOS, but you do not have to remove the laptop battery as well. Did you remove the two batteries?

I still really want you to try to boot the machine with a stick of memory removed.

Here's a good video youtube, that he mentions on the battery and electric shock _ you won't electrocute yourself, the voltage inside a laptop is very low and also the battery will be removed.

    http://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=dbvmRsSh210

Remove the stick dessu first (you don't have to replace the cover on the penalty), insert the battery back in and start. If no luck, remove the lower Strip and try this one. If it does not always start upward, then I would say that the BIOS is damaged. If it starts, then you have a bad stick of RAM.

The RAM sticks are matched, you can't make them in trust, me it's a very simple thing to do.

    http://h20574.www2.HP.com/default.htm?lang=en&cc=us&hpappid=psml

Also here is a link to HP multimedia Services library and some screenshots as getting there.

When you click the link you may have to sign in again, giving the two pages of time to load, especially the other, it takes about 30 seconds.

In the video he says you only touch the memory stick to the edges, it is a good idea, but I've seen people deal with it very casually and it's always nice. However just follow the steps in the video.

I mention this once again and that's to make sure that you're statically discharged before opening the laptop.

After trying the solution of the RAM (Random Access Memory) and if it fails, you will need a 1 GB flash drive. If there is something on this subject, and then save the information we have will be formatted.

Flash player is required to save your BIOS.

I guess we'll use your computer for girls, so I need to know what operating system is on it.

  • Ntkrnlmp.exe does not load on Compaq Presario SR1303WM

Hello, all, someone please advise. I have a Compaq Presario, ~ 40 GB Hd, 256 MB of ram, Windows XP Home SP2. The user tells me it has fried, couple of blocking issues and freezes here and there, so I take it home to try reinstalling the operating system to factory.

I save all the data for a value of savings and try a system restore just to see what is happening, so I chose to come back to a point in March. After the restore, I get a message "could not start bcause the file next is missing or corrupt: Windows\System32\Config\System" and information on the repair with the original installation CD. So next I go to the recovery console to start the relocation and get the message "Cannot load ntkrnlmp.exe" with an error code 7.

I look online and see on resetting the Bios default and shooting of ACPI on the computer, can someone please advise on the place to go on this particular machine? I have also reinstalled the memory and upgraded to 512, still the same messages.

I ordered the hp system recovery disks but the machine will not even read the first disk. It CAN read a Windows 98 boot disk, I can access the a: prompt and switch for fair c: and d:, readers will not read this disc. I tried another disc of restoration for a Compaq machine, but it was the wrong - he read and gave me a message "the system restore disks do not support this Compq PC model."

All advice is appreciated. Thank you.

Well, it sounds as if the recovery partition is no longer usable. Try to start at the C: prompt and format the drive. Type format C:, and then press ENTER. Allow to format and then try the disks.

  • Compaq presario sr5010nx does not recognize cpu

Hi guys my dad have a really crappy computer (cannot run the half-life 1) and I want to give him my old (also shitty, but less) which I use no more. I bought a new processor, an intel Core 2 Duo E4300 1.80 GHz 2 M 800 MHz processor LGA775 Conroe, which is on the list of caught cpu supported by the motherboard (945GCT-HM (Livermore)) on the website of intel. When I changed the cpu, apply the thermal paste and it started
I got "ERROR: unsupported processor installed.
PC will turn off automatically in a few seconds "message and I wonder why it does not work. Is it possible that the CPU is broken? I bought on ebay so it would not be surprising. I also changed the power supply which fried for a 550W and added the new ram, 1 stick of 1 GB and a 2 GB.

P.S. I asked on another Web site and all they told me is get a better machine, please do not. My father is really not great matches and I don't have the money for her ^^

    Hello @Charlesesteban,

I understand that you are having problems with upgrading the processor on your desktop Compaq Presario SR5010NX. Well well, according to the HP Support document: upgrade or replacement of the processor you have followed the steps correctly. The TDP for the original and intel processor Core 2 Duo E4300 1.80 GHz 2 M 800 MHz LGA775 processor are the two 65w so this isn't a problem. I suspect that you're right in that the new processor is faulty.

I hope this helps. Thanks for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • Compaq presario cq61: change the boot sequence

I have 10 Windows upgrade on my compaq Presario cq61 free. I want to do a clean install of Windows 10. I downloaded the tool of Microsoft Media, made a key USB and DVD containing the clean install. I am told that the use of the flash player, I have to change the boot sequence in the bios. I tried everything from ESC, all numbers F and LED to try to enter the bios and all have failed. Told me that all I had to do with the DVD was just put it in and start the computer and the laptop would boot from the DVD and I could make my own installation from there. Which also failed. The only thing I have not tried is downgrade to Windows 7, affecting Windows 7 back to factory settings, then reinstall the free update of Windows 10. I would not have to go through all if I mostly because I bought the laptop from a friend and it was installed at the factory of Windows 7 and I don't got no disc software to the computer so I don't want to screw up and drop windows 7 without the appropriate software reinstall to match the product key.

Any help to enter in the bios or advice that could help me reach my goal would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello

    Here are some other suggestions.

    1. start the machine in Windows 10.

Open settings and select System.  Select food and sleep, and then click additional power settings - in the next window, click on "Choose what the power button" in the left pane.

In the next window, click on "Change settings that are currently unavailable" (close), then Remove the check mark from the box against 'Turn on a quick start (recommended) '.  Click on the button Save the settings, and then close any open windows and stop the laptop by right clicking on the icon from the Start Menu, then select prompt (Admin) and click 'Yes' to the uac prompt.

Type (or copy and paste) the following command (including spaces) and click Enter.

    Shutdown /s /t 0

Tap on the ESC key as soon as you turn it on and see if it will now access the Start Menu.

2 try to connect a keyboard external usb and see if this will allow you to access the Start Menu.

  • The Compaq Presario CQ41 does support 64 bit OS?

I went in a chain retailer and I noticed the Compaq Presario CQ41 was running Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit, but had 4 GB of RAM installed (which he could not fully use). The stafff I asked why and they said HP/Compaq laptops cannot run 64-bit.

The Compaq Presario CQ41 does support 64-bit so it can used the entire 4 GB of ram?

The Compaq Presario CQ41 will also support a 64-bit Windows 7 operating system.

  • HE commands to work - Compaq Presario SR5000 does not start

I have a Compaq Presario SR5000 running Windows Vista Edition family basic and once we got in, I first cleaned the internals to the air compressed, then tried to start, and it failed, so recommended BIOS I run the Startup Repair tool and so I did, and the startup repair couldn't fix the computer "automatically".

Now, I run the system restore and I tried to restore the computer to its last Windows Update, and I got the error code 0 x 80070002, meaning that the system cannot find the specified file.

Specifications for the Compaq Presario SR5000 I have:

AMD Sempron LE-1250 to 2.20 GHz

    2 GB PC2-6400 DDR2 SDRAM Samsung

WDC WD3200AAJS 320 GB HDD at 3.0 Gbps

Phoenix BIOS CMOS review 5.16 12/11/2008

    Windows Vista Home Basic

    HP M2N86 - THE mother

    Power supply PS-5251-08 LiteON 250W

Well, if this is the case, then I think you may try to access BIOS, if that does not work then go ahead with the HARD drive option. I had this problem before and I wiped the hard and it worked eventually. If this does not work, I will try and find a different solution.
