Compaq Presario V3745TU: Upgrade the hardware of Compaq Presario V3745TU

Hello

My Macbook Pro have hardware problem and I had sent to Apple. It would take time to repair. Luckly I have an old computer for temp use. I had to format the drive and reinstall the OS, but it works still slow. So, I want to update my old computer hardware like high configuration like the logic board support.

Current configuration are:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo T5450 1.66GHz

RAM: 1.00 GB DDR II 800 + 1.00 GB DDR II 667 = 2 GB RAM

So... is this possible upgrade to the higher model CPU / faster as long as the logic board support.

Logic board supports latest version of DDR or DDR the best model for this computer and should 2 GB x 2 will make computer faster?

I'm also plan to upgrade HDD to SSD, as Samsung 850 Pro 256 GB. (Is this waste of money just to upgrade this old computer)

Thank you!

Yes a waste of money to upgrade this old computer. Other that install 4 GB of RAM. DDR2 can be and it may take 800 speed but runs at 667. 4 gigs DDR2 laptop is maybe $35.

It may take up a T9300 CPU. Surprisingly, the maintenance manual is always available to be downloaded:

    Hello

Normally, for modern machines we only need the 64 bit operating system itself and the drivers appropriate to go with it. There is no need to upgrade the hardware except we may want more RAM to use the 64 bit OS.

In your case, the machine is too old, my suggestion is to buy a new machine. In the long run, can be cheaper than buying part and piece of component to upgrade the existing.

    Kind regards

  • How to upgrade the hardware on a VCenter Server

In lab environment, two hosts, VCenter server, don't HA, storage etc. running share. I managed to upgrade hosts, using Crossover, but his declaration of errors when attempting to upgrade the hardware of server VCenter comments... I can see that it would be a problem, using VCenter to upgrade equipment on himself, when he needs to reboot the server to install. The question is, how to get around that? I tried to look for solutions, not found anything yet. Hope that makes sense.

Latest versions of everything, as it is a laboratory under eval licenses. Thank you

You must turn off the VM, connection to the ESXi host through vSphere client vCenter and right-click on the VM vCenter > virtual hardware upgrade.

Make sure that you run VMware tools before do you.

  • Worth to upgrade the hardware in 2011 MacBook Pro?

    I have a 2011 end 15 "Macbook Pro (MacBookPro8, 2):"

    CPU: Intel Core i7 (2.5 GHz, 8 MB L3, 4 cores, 256 KB of L2 cache cache)

Graphics card: AMD Radeon HD 6770 M 1024 MB

Memory: 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 (my upgrade using OWC RAM)

Storage: Hitachi 750Go HD, 7200 RPM

Battery *-he won't hold much fees and I always keep connected when possible because battery just does not last too long.

But touch wood... except for the battery, I am happy with this old trick: the performances are quite good (with latest OS X 10.11.3).)

It is interesting to invest in some hardware upgrades that it would rejuvenate significantly?

I think the following (with the current prices of OWC):

    -new battery $99

-SSD, 480 GB OWC Mercury Electra 6G $195 (it is $ 63 less than equivalent Extreme Pro)

-1 TB HGST HD 7200 RPM $98 (with cube data, to be installed in the region of CD)

TOTAL: $392 (I cut this to $287 if I cut half of SSD and HD capabilities)

Opinions? My only concern is this new h/w were in a 5 year old laptop, how does life have left? Will be an investment to upgrade the h/w wasted because of other failures in 2 years?

First of all, longevity... some still run their lighter systems 2008 as web browsers and other tasks.  My MBP 2011 sends this message.

Second... An old battery is just that - something to be replaced instead of a 'sign of death.  I would like to replace it immediately at an Apple Store... old batteries can swell and damage case/keyboard/trackpad.  Maybe not, but it happens quite often.

As for HD... all the spinny readers die subsequently.  You are wise to consider a replacement.  My 2011 MBP has a Crucial MBP (OWC is also a very good drive, and get the non-Pro is not a bad decision, if the Pro is not necessary).

Basically if it's 'OK' outside the farm, the SSD will be much faster and the battery will allow it to better function as a portable device.

< EDIT > The SSD you put into the 2011 models are 2.5, which can be reused in external speakers if the 2011 becomes unsustainable future (could happen).  So the SSD is definitely NOT a waste of money.

  • Upgrade the hardware of Dell XPS (L521x) how to perform a clean reinstall of Windows 10 Pro

    Hello

I searched on the internet with the question that I have before doing the upgrade and the re-installation of windows. But the messages and solutions are all scattered. I really want to clear this for me once and for all if possible.

First of all, the material that I bought for this upgrade:

1 Samsung 850 EVO mSATA SSD 120 GB (to replace the one 32 GB (factory default)

2 western Digital Black 750Go Performance Mobile HDD (7200 RPM, 2.5 inches)

    3 Intel (r) Dual Band Wireless - AC 7260 (802.11ac, 2 x 2 Wi - Fi, Bluetooth)

    4. crucial Ballistix Sport SODIMM 16 GB (2x8GB) PC3-14900 CL10 at 1.35v 204 pin memory

BTW, my Dell XPS 15 L521x has an intel core i7-3632QM and an nVIDIA GeForce GT 640 M. It also comes with 32 mSATA SSD as cache for the WDC 1 TB HARD drive.

    My goal:

1 install/reinstall Windows 10 mSATA SSD 120 GB and free 500 MB give or take for system reserved partition.

    2. use the remaining space in the C: drive.

    3. use WD Black 2.5 inch 750 GB HHD for cold storage

    4. Remove and reinstall the wireless card Intel Dual Band for a better Wi - Fi compatiability for most routers dual band out there. (Factory default, well, is not great to say the least)

    5. Remove and then install the crucial RAM (compatiable with L521x) is to upgrade memory of my laptop (maybe a little future-proof;) (D).

Before you start the upgrade, I know I have to do the following steps:

    1. update my BIOS/UEFI. (I did it)

2 clear accelerated Intel Rapid Start Technology (IRST) GUI (my laptop keeps inviting that "your system does not have any intel repaid with start technology").

    3. change Intel Smart response Technology (ISRT) to AHCI in BIOS

    4 back up my files

    5. my 10 Pro Activation of emergency Windows (how exactly? The Win10 Pro is upgraded to Windows Pro 8.1 with OEM Dell)

Now my question is what I do or what I've been missing so that what I will meet errors or problems if possible.

Also, I have heard or seen something on the OEM of Windows version. If I change the hardware, disk files or recovering backup activation does not recognize my device. Is this true? If necessary, I can buy a new version of Win10 Pro retail. But, what I really need to do, and does it perform a not-so-complicated work around?

    Thank you very much

    Dean

If you keep your motherboard you have no problem taking the other components such as SSDS.

Your system is already a Pro 10 Windows device.

Installing clean with 10 Windows installation media Pro TH2 your OEM Pro 8.1 Windows key will be automatically entered to the UEFI BIOS and Windows 10 Pro TH2 automatically reactivates when your systems online.

    Satellite Pro M70-199: PSM76E

How can I PUT it? (HW)

All you can do is upgrade the RAM and HARD drive.
If you need more space on the HARD disk, you can upgrade the HARD drive. This should t be a problem.
The RAM can be upgraded to max 2 GB using memory DDR2 PC2-4200

The CPU or the graphics card update is not possible.

  • The hardware upgrade

I have a hp pavilion m9800me desktop pc. I thought about upgrading the hardware.
is this possible? I would like to upgrade the video card. the default video card that came with the pc is ati radeon hd 4650 1 GB ddr2. the operating system is windows 7 64 bit.

Here are the specifications of your HP Pavilion Elite m9800me desktop and it is card mother IPIEL-A3 (Eureka3). According to specifications, your computer has a location of graphics PCIe x 16 (currently occupied by the HD 4650) and 3 PCIe x 1 for other cards slots. The computer has a 300 watt power supply which limits your choice of graphics for the low-end models. If you want to run mid-level in the class of game cards, you will need to upgrade your diet as well. The Corsair CX500 and CX600 are great choices and known to adapt to most cases of HP. Please see from Dave G "Guide to choose a discrete video card" for more information on this subject. Alternatively, you can upgrade the memory and the CPU in your computer as follows:

    Memory:

Four DDR3 DIMM sockets (240 pin)

Supports DIMM DDR3 2 GB modules

    Supports dual channel memory architecture

    Supporting speeds:

    PC3-8500 1066 MHz

    PC3-6400 800 MHz

    Memory non - ECC, unbuffered

  • Re-install Windows after upgradation of hardware

I have a PC with dual boot system with Windows 7 Home Basic and Windows 8 Pro, which are legal and active versions. At the present time, the PC is running on an AMD Athlon X 2 processor.  This processor does not support some important features of Windows 8, I need. I tried to upgrade the hardware and installed a new card mother with Core i3 processor and re-installed both windows. I find that Windows 7 and Windows 8 lost their start-up and cannot be activated with original product keys. The message I get is "significant physical changes have been detected...". ». So, I was forced to go back to the old AMD processor to maintain activation intact, which prevents me from using the important features. Please tell me how I can upgrade my hardware and also keep the activation of two intact windows.

Assuming that Win7 Home Basic has been provided by your PC manufacturer's OEM version and as such cannot be transferred/enabled on new hardware as its related to the original hardware (motherboard)

  • Win98SE invited in WS v10.0.1; cannot upgrade virtual hardware

I installed VMware WS v9.x v10.0.1 and, as with all the previous WS upgrades, I upgraded the virtual hardware to version 10.  With one exception, all that is.  My Win98SE guest does not accept the upgrade of virtual equipment of v9 to v10.  I have an error message: "this virtual machine does not have the latest version of VMWare Tools.  You must update the VMware Tools until you can upgrade the virtual machine.  "For more information about upgrading, see 'http://vmware.com/info?id=98'.  I am running WS on a Win8.1 Pro host.

First of all, I did never had upgrade level of VMware Tools before upgrading the hardware.  I always updated the virtual material THEN upgraded VMware Tools.  In fact, I just did it for my Windows XP and Ubuntu Linux VMs, Win7.

Secondly, it seems to be there anyway no new version of VMware Tools for Win98SE.  When I start the operating system, I get no automatic indication I had to upgrade.  When I go to the VM option in WS while the VM is running I only get the option "Reinstall VMware Tools".  And when I set the winPre2k.iso on the virtual CD and start the installation manually I get only the options to repair/uninstall/reinstall.  Relocation of the VMware Tools has the same original problem.

I remember something vaguely similar in the past where VMware has released an upgrade which was problematic because they did not provide a new VMware Tools for Windows Pre2k operating systems and has not bothered to even update the version number in the file winPre2k.iso so that it works correctly with the new virtual hardware.  I'm guessing that something like this can happen again.  Either that or there is some kind of a bug.  I am remiss to contact VMware directly to report a bug through their support mechanisms; the last time I did it turned into a long 6 + months fiasco loaded many emails back to California and the India Conference calls, allowing the remote control of my computer, etc.

When I tried to create a new VM Win98SE, WS chose the 10 hardware version that tells me Win98SE is supposed to work on this latest version of virtual equipment.

So, let's recap: WS v10.x wants the latest tools installed in Win98SE VM prompt to update the virtual hardware to v10 but do not accept that there is NO new version of tools.  I have marked this message as a question in case someone can offer opportunities to a solution which I missed.  It's maddening to constantly through problems like this in a piece of software as professional and expensive.

Sorry you have a question however...

: 1 Windows 98 is more a BONE officially supported by VMware for VMware Workstation 10 (or Microsoft for that matter) even if it can be selected in the wizard.

Fact 2: A given virtual hardware version can be selected does not mean all the features will be compatible with all operating systems or any OS.

Fact 3: Products VMware, like many other manufactured goods, have questions that will have to be workaround at certain times.

Then...  If it appears there is a question of trying to change the hardware compatibility through the user interface and then manually edit the .vmx config file to make the changes necessary and appropriate!

If I were to create a Windows 98 VM by selecting "hardware compatibility:" Workstation 9.0 and 10.0 Workstation, while accepting all the default values, the only difference in the .vmx config file is virtualHW.version = '9' vs virtualHW.version = "10".  If a simple manual modification of the .vmx config file it will modernize to 10!

  • mix and match between vsphere 4.0 virtual machine and the hardware esxi 3.5 version run 4 on vsphere 4.

If you run a virtual machine on vsphere and not upgrade the virtual hardware, this has it problems?

My plan was to install on a server and then machines of vm, vsphere without upgrading the hardware on the machine to the virtual machine.

So I can then migrate the machines on my esxi 3.5 server if necessary.

Like many of you, I plan to update my test servers before upgrading my production servers.

If you have 3.x hosts in your cluster, and then I'd wait for upgrade virtual hardware and your guests VMware tools until all your ESX hosts are on the same generation.

  • Compaq Presario CQ61-416SA: upgrade the Compaq CQ61 wireless card

I have a Compaq Presario CQ61-416SA, running 64-bit Windows 7 application. The current wireless card only works on the 2.4 Ghz band and I want to upgrade to a dual band to get the best speed etc. to 5 GHz. I have an Intel Centrino N6230 of replacement card, but the phone will not accept anything other than the default map. At the start, it stops with an error message saying that it will not continue unless the "unauthorized device" is deleted. If I re - install the original wireless card, it starts and works very well, but this is not the point, I would like to update.

I guess that the default is to lock the part of the BIOS of the laptop to prevent alteration unauthorized with laptop computers under warranty, but mine is well outside the guarantee.

I know that the card works because I installed it in my laptop previous and I have been in electronics for 30 years and spent about 5 years of this repair of computers laptops, desktops, servers, etc so I'm sure that I am able to connect a card and the driver installation!

There does anyone know a way around the block? I won't to be able to upgrade the laptop without it.

    Anyone?

Do not completely blame HP, but it was little 1984 involving your federal Government. HP and Lenovo read a few Federal Communications Comm regs on the recording of radio portable wireless (including the computer wifi cards) to require that alternative cards are blocked. Other laptop makers has not agreed and now the 'white list' is history, but there is no effort to go back and make new BIOS for older models.

HP wireless card versions have specific identification in the firmware looking for the HP whitelist before clearing the map to use if you use the version of HP. I looked pretty hard for a version of HP of the card and the one I linked is everything I could find. Google around and you can do better.

  • Compaq Presario SR5710F upgrade the video upon hearing the motherboard cannot handle high power supp

What is the best graphics card upgrade which can my Compaq Presario SR5710F can support? I'm ready to upgrade the power also, but hear that the motherboard do not put anything above 350 watts regardless of power.

You can install any PCIe x 16 video card you want. The limiting factor is going to be the power supply. More power the longer video card POWER supply. About what you hear about the motherboard, I found nothing to that effect. To qoute request-leo,' I heard a matter of concern that a power high power can somehow 'forcing' the power on the computer, resulting in overheating and burnout. Nothing could be further from the truth. A power supply provides power in response to the need; It does not matter where power grow. If your computer only needs 100 watts, then a 500 Watt power supply will only provide 100 watts. Why have a 500 Watt power supply? For the use of 'pic' (sometimes material will require 'sudden' power, as at the beginning upward or under heavy load) and for future expansion. »

It is better to have too much power too littleand to get the right size. By that I mean the physical size - come in many standard sizes out there, and they are not interchangeable.

  • upgrade the hard drive to Compaq nx6320

    I have a Hp compaq nx6320. Can I replace his ' 80 GB HDD 500 GB one?

Going through the material, I see no reason why it would be limited to 120 GB.  The limitation of the hardware would be limited by the BIOS, and the BIOS of this era took in charge much more than 120 GB.  I would be very surprised if a 500 GB HDD has failed in this system.  If it came with a FAT32 based operating system, such as Windows ME, then it would be a problem.

TI being a business unit, you can try councils to reach out to other users of this unit for first-hand experience.  A link was provided earlier in the thread.  I found this thread in the works councils the same question.  The user has received a response that it should support up to 1 TB, and they are not returned indicating that a larger HARD drive did not work for them.  Of course, not returning doesn't mean it was perfect for them.  It is very likely that it does not work for them.

  • A few questions regarding the hardware upgrade and the games on Satellite Pro 2100

    Hey,.

I thought that posting this here because it's more about the lines for the games I could think on another topic.

I'll get to the point... Basically, I bought a laptop from a guy that my friend knew. He barely used this laptop and didn't know anything about computers, and he tried to avoid as much as possible. So he got rid of this laptop for me for real cheap.

Now I got it, I had expected either of two things with the laptop.

    (1) what I'll use it so I can sit in his bed and travel a little bit while having files, movies, music and internet access. (it wasn't my main idea)

    Or

    (2) it allows to play video games on it, or to update, so I have a better chance to do so.

I was hoping to get for video games, mainly for my brother to use because his computer is lagging a lot while playing world of Warcraft. I was hoping that this notebook would give him a better experience for a while.

But as I was installing the game on this, I noticed that the disk space is low, so I'm going to buy an external hard drive, so I can send files between the PC and the laptop, and I got an error message saying that the RAM was under "minimum requirements" for WoW.

So I know that I got to level it with something big, but I know not what, so I'm not quite sure that this laptop will run the game at a decent rate. So I thought that I turn to a computer forum and ask.

    It's my laptop;
    [Satellite Pro 2100 PS210E | http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?service=UK&BV_UseBVCook = Yes & PRODUCT_ID = 45659 ie]

This laptop will do the job don't you think?
Or it will be better for simpler things, or less if I had the ram to 1gig?

I don't know much on the laptop, and I'm not really willing to spend too much on fixing, if it's just a change of the ram, then it wouldn't cost much for than to upgrade around 1gig.

    Hello

First of all, I must say that this notebook belongs to an older series laptop.
It was equipped with the 1.8 Celeron CPU, 256 MB RAM, 20 GB or 30 GB HARD drive and a 16MB graphics card internal.

What you can do is upgrade the RAM up to 1 GB (2 x 512 MB) and the HARD drive. But I think that the maximum size of HARD drive that would be recognized by the BIOS is 120 GB.
I think that the laptop supports one IDE controller and it limited because of the 28-bit LBA HARD drive size.

So finally, it is important to mention that you can not pass the graphics card because it s soldered onto the motherboard. Upgrading the CPU is not possible or very difficult.

I come to the conclusion that you will not be able to play games of new generation on this machine. The hardware specs are maybe too low a few simple games would run on this laptop but I'm sure that other newer games will not run smoothly.

    Welcome them
