Compaq Presario V6310US Notebook PC does not start at the top.

This laptop was bought new on 11 May 2007.  This problem started about a month ago.  The monitor would be just off then go back to normal, until one day it just wouldn't start.  Lights along the top of the computer will be light, stay on for a while and then turns off and the monitor remains blank.  This happens again and again until I just turn it off.  My husband took the computer to a repairman who said it is a hardware problem, but he had no idea what.

I don't know if I have included all relevant information, and if not, I'll be happy to add anything that might be useful.

Thelma

Thank you very much for your help. My cell phone is listed and I will contact HP tomorrow to grab their free repair. I do not think that this solves my problem but I don't know how to mark resolved. Maybe I can find how do. This is my first time on this forum but I don't know that it will not be my last.

  • Compaq presario cq71, sudden death, does not start

Compaq presario cq71-140ea. was fine yesterday but this morning it will not start. It turns on, displays of compaq on the screen and then does nothing. Have you tried pressing f10 to change the sequence of boot for the relocation, but it just says bios configure options at the bottom of the screen and will not actually in it. All keys have the same effect. Says on the bottom, what is it but isn't "doing". Does anyone have any ideas on how I can him get up and running?

Ruling on a BIOS corrupted, removing the CMOS (exhibit) just battery resets the default settings for the BIOS, but you do not have to remove the laptop battery as well. Did you remove the two batteries?

I still really want you to try to boot the machine with a stick of memory removed.

Here's a good video youtube, that he mentions on the battery and electric shock _ you won't electrocute yourself, the voltage inside a laptop is very low and also the battery will be removed.

    http://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=dbvmRsSh210

Remove the stick dessu first (you don't have to replace the cover on the penalty), insert the battery back in and start. If no luck, remove the lower Strip and try this one. If it does not always start upward, then I would say that the BIOS is damaged. If it starts, then you have a bad stick of RAM.

The RAM sticks are matched, you can't make them in trust, me it's a very simple thing to do.

    http://h20574.www2.HP.com/default.htm?lang=en&cc=us&hpappid=psml

Also here is a link to HP multimedia Services library and some screenshots as getting there.

When you click the link you may have to sign in again, giving the two pages of time to load, especially the other, it takes about 30 seconds.

In the video he says you only touch the memory stick to the edges, it is a good idea, but I've seen people deal with it very casually and it's always nice. However just follow the steps in the video.

I mention this once again and that's to make sure that you're statically discharged before opening the laptop.

After trying the solution of the RAM (Random Access Memory) and if it fails, you will need a 1 GB flash drive. If there is something on this subject, and then save the information we have will be formatted.

Flash player is required to save your BIOS.

I guess we'll use your computer for girls, so I need to know what operating system is on it.

  • Windows xp home does not start at the top.

I have a desktop dell dimension 1100 with a windows xp home edition operating system. The system will not start mode 'from', I tried them all. Regardless of the mode that I use to start the system, I get a blue screen with the technical information: * Stop: 0 x 00000024 (0 x 00190203, 0x82FCB1D0, 0xc0000102, 0x00000000). I read the other posts with the same problem, but nothing works. Anyone have any ideas on how to solve this problem? Thank you.

You should start your system in the XP Recovery Console and running chdsk/a:

If you have no XP bootable media (or aren't sure you have) create a bootable XP Recovery CD of Console and do not forget.

This is not the same as recovery disks that may have come to a store to purchase the system.

You can make a bootable Recovery Console CD by downloading an ISO file and burn it to a CD.

The ISO bootable image file you need to download is called:

    xp_rec_con. ISO

    Download the ISO from here:

    http://www.mediafire.com/?ueyyzfymmig

Use a new CD and this simple and free program to burn your ISO file and create your bootable CD:

    http://www.ImgBurn.com/

Here are some instructions for ImgBurn:

    http://Forum.ImgBurn.com/index.php?showtopic=61

It would be a good idea to test your bootable CD on a computer running.

You may need to adjust the computer BIOS settings to use the CD-ROM drive as the first device to boot instead of the hard drive.  These adjustments are made before Windows tries to load.  If you miss it, you will need to restart the system again.

When you start on the CD, follow the instructions:

Press any key to boot from CD...

    Installing Windows... going to pronounce.

Press 'R' to enter the Recovery Console.

Select the installation that you want to access (usually 1: C:\WINDOWS)

You may be asked to enter the password (usually empty).

You should be in the folder C:\WINDOWS.  It's the same as the

C:\Windows folder that you see in Solution Explorer.

The Recovery Console allows base as file commands: copy, rename, replace, delete, chkdsk, fixboot, fixmbr, cd, etc.

For a list of the commands in the Recovery Console, type help at the prompt of commands or read on here XP Recovery Console:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/proddocs/en-us/recovery_console_cmds.mspx?mfr=true

A good idea before you start things must first verify the integrity of your file system by using the chkdsk command.

In the command prompt window, run the chkdsk command on the drive where Windows is installed to try to fix any problems on the afflicted player.

Running chkdsk is fine, even if he finds no problem.  It won't hurt anything to run it.

Assuming your boot drive is C, run the following command:

    CHKDSK C: /r

Let chkdsk finish to correct the problems, he could find.

It may take a long time for chkdsk complete or they seem to be "stuck".  Be patient.  If the HARD drive led blinks always, chkdsk is something.  Keep an eye on the amount of the percentage to be sure that it is still making progress.  It may even seem to go back sometime.

You must run chkdsk/r again until it finds no error to correct.

Remove the CD, and then type "exit" to exit the RC and restart the computer.

You have not to set the BIOS to boot the disk HARD since the CD won't be.

  • Loaded IE 8 optimized for AT & T Yahoo and now windows does not start at the top.

Yesterday, I installed IE 8 optimized for AT & T Yahoo. When it restarted to complete the process, he went to the ' start windows normally, safe mode, safe mode w/network, safe w/command prompt mode and the last known good configuration "screen... I tried to start windows normally, then the last known good configuration and not matter what I do it looks like its about to start up, then a brief blue screen flashes then I finish immediately at the start screen mode to choose. I don't want to reload windows if I have to. I wish now that I had stayed with my old AT & T Yahoo browser. He was doing very well until I have given and responsible for IE8.

    Help!

    Hello

I presume that you can order only the latest Toshiba Vista recovery DVD using this from Toshiba Web site.

If you need a recovery (Win XP) for this older satellite series CD, then you will need to contact the ASP (authorized service provider) in your country.

However, you can use a Microsoft XP CD to the original address to repair or reinstall the operating system.

By the way; have you tried to boot the operating system in safe mode by pressing the F8 key?
Please check this box. Maybe it's possible.

I'm having a problem similar to this:
    http://www.TechSpot.com/VB/topic26409.html

The only solution for this is to reinstall/repair Windows XP Edition Media Center:
    http://www.TechSpot.com/VB/showthread.php?t=8356&highlight=Windows+repair

It is to reinstall Windows ONLY (without formatting) the recovery came with my computer CD can not do this. Really, I don't want to format my computer, and being a sealed unit I won't remove the laptop HARD drive.

How can I perform the procedure above with my current copy of Windows XP Media Center provided with the computer on the recovery disk?

    Thanks in advance.

    [Edited by: admin]

You can try to repair the operating system using the XP repair console.
But isn't the Toshiba Recovery CD contains such console because it s not an original CD of Microsoft, but it contains only an image of the files.

So if you want, you can remove the HARD drive and connect it to another computer via external USB HDD controller.
Then you could get access to HARD drive and could save all important files.

    Hello

Did you change your computer before this problem?

A possible reason for this problem is that you have installed entirely or partially on the computer security software conflict.

You may need to use a cleaning tool to remove your prior security software:

Ok. Trying to fix a friend's computer and seem to have met a strange barrier.

Problem: The computer does not start after the bios screen.

Details: When you turn on the computer, the compaq logo with intel inside is and has the < F1 Setup > and < F10 System Recovery > options listed as well.  And that's it as far as the computer becomes.  After that the computer just locked up, no work of buttons on the keyboard lights keyboard ect ect.  I tried the puree on the F1 key, as soon as I turn on the computer and I can handle so he can say * entering setup * but it freezes again after this point.  I already tried to eliminate the possible sources of the problem, removed all expansion cards, HDD and Dvd Rom module only disconnected, only memory (256 MB ddr 2700), power, vga and keyboard connected.  Ive also used the jumper on the motherboard to clear the cmos, hoping that would solve the problem without success.  I tried using a different memory stick and different memory as well...  Tried to use both a ps2 and a usb keyboard... Ive even tried pulling the rider for the protection of the bios password (even if she did not have a password on it, just try everything I can think of).

The installed bios version is 3.1, and that's all that I know on the computer at this point, except that the website tells me to him.

    I tried the following:

Remove the memory and replace it. Remove the 2 * 1 GB of memory and its replacement by the Moose 2 * 512MB to check if the memory is at fault.

Cleaning of the dust around the fan (at this point, I removed the fan over the CPU and cleaned the thermal compound from the CPU to make it nice and shiny, only tried to start one time after that for a few seconds heard blowing fan and turend it took off. Depuis_lors, I realized that it wasn't just muck and had a purpose na derwiche put a little more on)

Remove the battery of the BIOS for half a day

    Move jumpers CMOS from1, 2 to 2, 3 positions

I can not get into the same if BIOS start and hold F1 he will show me the BIOS for a second and then go to a black screen.
