Compaq SG3-350UK: port USB2 Upgrade for USB3

Hello, I'm new here.

I have a desktop Compaq SG3-350UK with 4 USB2 ports.  I want to update at least one for USB3 to speed up backups to external storage.

Can anyone tell if this is possible and if so what parts to buy and how to do it.

Thanks Steve_38

Steve-

You would need to buy an expansion PCI Express (PCIe x 1) card,
who will be its SuperSpeed USB 3.0 at the back of the computer ports.

There are several to choose from, the most popular-2 and 4-ports.

POTENTIAL RFI: USB 3.0 and 2.4 GHz ISM band wireless (Wi - Fi and Bluetooth)
PC Magazine, September 9, 2013
http://www.PCMag.com/Article2/0, 2817,2423604,00.asp

Cables and USB 3.0 devices can interfere with devices operating in the 2.4 GHz ISM band wireless. This can cause a drop in flow or a complete loss of response with Bluetooth and Wi - Fi devices.
Various strategies can be applied to solve the problem, ranging from simple solutions like increasing the distance of USB 3.0 of Wi - Fi and Bluetooth routers peripheral devices, to the application of shielding around the additional internal computer components.

    Hey MadCabbage2,

I'm sorry that you run on this issue. Great job troubleshooting well so far! When I see glitches like this, I love to watch that the process is run in the background. It gives you a detailed breakdown.

You may already aware of these things, but I wanted to put the information out there, just in case. Over time, the hard drives accumulate data and larger they are, the more time it will take one to access the data, in turn slow down the copying process. Also, when you use your computer, services that run in the background accumulate and can be configured to run on start upward without your knowledge. To check what is running in the background,

Bring up the task (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) Manager > click on the processes tab > click the memory column in descending order.

This will put heavier processes, resource-hogging to the Summit. Sometimes the virus can have a course of update service, or another 3rd party program may have a running update service you know on the subject. As I mentioned, these processes could be installed by default starts when you turn on the computer, even if you do not open this program. For example, after you install iTunes, applepush (iTunes update service) will run whenever you turn on the computer. This isn't the only program that sneaks of these services in. Toolbars in the browser will sometimes do the same. You can also check to see what is starting to turn on using msconfig.

Click on the Start button > Type "msconfig" > click "msconfig.exe" > click on the Start Up tab.

You can also put a column called Ridge (memory) working set in the process tab. That will tell you what a particular process of the maximum memory usage has been since it was started. Just open the Task Manager > tab click process > click on view > click Select columns > check the memory - peak working set of box, and then click OK. This will give you a better idea of what programs to take a closer look. Anti-virus and Internet browser will naturally have the largest numbers in the column of the art. Others should be questioned. It would help if you could post a screenshot of the processes tab.

I hope this information helps! I'll keep an eye out for your answer

I think to buy vga splitter, I don't know if that will allow me to move images/data between the monitors. Please tell us what to do. Thank you

    It is based on the expected results.  A VGA splitter will give you two monitors but they will display the same image.  If the expected result is two different pictures, maybe something like this will do;

Looking at some other sites, it is quite a common fault with Acer products, so I guess there are some downloadable update to cover this?

    pheasantplucker,

Looks like you're trying to connect a USB to the Ethernet connection and it does not work, or your connected printer. I guess that you always use the operating system supplied with the laptop and don't have not upgraded to Windows 10 yet?

You need to replace the power supply. The diagram of the motherboard is not marked ATX is an owner of COMPAQ connector configuration. • 4 k upgrade for early 2009 double quad?

I have a tower in early 2008 with a 914361344 MB AMD Radeon HD 7950 card that can display 4 k.  I have shooting and HD video editing, but I want to start working with 4 k.  I use a Vizio HDTV with a VGA or HDMI input for HD display.  I am looking for a 4 k monitor that displays the output of my card AMD, which has a DVI and two small mini-DVI outputs to display 3 signals at the same time.  When the computer starts, it will default to the DVI signal.

I've been shopping on Ebay and saw a monitor Dell 28 '' with a Display Port entry.  I'm not familiar with this port.  Should I be looking for a port DVI display for best film adapter, or should I get a monitor with a DVI 4 k?

Should I consider getting a screen with a refresh rate of 60 hz to 4 k?  Any other consideration?  I know that my Tower is long in the tooth that cost a big consideration.  I'm not going to upgrade to a new computer with Thunderbolt.  Thank you.

Nope, just to get a screen with an entry-no need to worry about DVI or VGA DisplayPort that I don't think that support 4 k, but I could be wrong.

HDMI can support 4 k Maybe, but I'm not 100% sure on that.  Just go with a DisplayPort monitor and you should be fine.  On the single conisderation for Dell, is to wake up the monitor can be problematic.  BTW, I've never heard of a mini-DVI port, but yet again, I could be wrong.

If it were up to me I would buy a screen of 4 k in the blink of an eye--as big as I could get, however, it is not mine.  I thought that 4 k has been at a refresh rate 30 hz, but I'm probably wrong about that, too.  The only thing stopping me now is a lack of money. Storms Yamakasi has a screen of 40 "4K for $550 on ebay

I'm sure you can find some good deals and good quality there. Apparently 4 k monitors greater that it will cost you a lot more... Well there ' tis

  • Can I install Firefox in a way that will never check an upgrade for all users?

In the approximately 500 mV VDI environment I would like to disable checking of upgrades for users of all virtual machines. We cannot update Firefox until we have ensured that the new version works with specific tools. Virtual machines are linked clones that are being refreshed to their State before logon after users log off. This causes the popup to come upgrade whenever users connect. Users are not allowed to upgrade, then it is a nuisance that I would like to eliminate them.

I found that I can use on: config to disable checking of upgrade on the image, where all virtual machines are created, but cela will not shut it for all users for the user with which the image is kept. Is there a central setting that allows me to do this? Or this would require a change in profile all users? And if the latter, what a change I need to make to their profile?

Use a mozilla.cfg file in the Firefox program folder to lock the prefs or specify default values.

Place a local file - settings.js in the defaults\pref folder where you will also find the channel - prefs.js to specify using mozilla.cfg file.

    pref("general.config.obscure_value", 0); // use this to disable the byte-shift

You can use these functions in mozilla.cfg:

pref(); // set pref, but allow changes in current session
lockPref(); // lock pref, disallow changes
