Compatibility of the OSX installation discs?

I went in the OSX installation process and realized, I had the second installation disk. The version I have only sold in a bundle and is inexpensive, where some other versions are much cheaper and sell with only 2 disc, which is exactly what I need. Compatible discs, and if so which?

My disc 1:

Mac OS 10.4.8 version

Disk, Version 1.0

2Z69-5967-A

Year 2007

You seem to allude to the original installation discs that come with the Mac. The ONLY place you can get those legally is Apple. They work as with the Mac model, they were originally shipped with. They are licensed to be used with the machine they accompany. The license cannot be legally separated from the original machine. The price varies so much is because criminals are free to charge what they want.

Call AppleCare and see if you can buy a replacement for your machine-disc set. The charge is usually minimal.

    Hi Dominic,

    Are you able to get into BIOS to make changes?

    If so, you can try to reset the default settings of the BIOS and check.

    NOTE: Change (CMOS) BIOS/complementary metal oxide semiconductor settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

    Hi the prey,

    ·         What is the brand and model of the computer?

    You should check the settings of the computer BIOS (Basic Input\Output System) to boot from the CD/DVD. Check the manual or the support of the computer Web site for the same.

    Note: Be careful when you change the BIOS settings. The BIOS interface is designed for advanced users, and it is possible to change a setting that can prevent your computer from starting properly.

    You have a hard drive partition to do - but you would need to contact/see the FAQ from the hardware manufacturer (HP, Dell, Gateway, Lenovo, etc) to see if and how.

    Otherwise - you might have to order (pay for possibly) the factory restore/recovery of the value of the manufacturer.

  • Can not run the Palm installation disc

    I want to turn off the Outlook synchronization and understand that I must restart the Palm installation disc to do this.  When I insert the installation disc in the drive, Notepad will open with the contents of the index.hta file is displayed.  If I use Explorer to navigate to the installation disc and double-click autorun.exe, the same thing happens.  If I insert the Palm installation disk on my laptop, it works fine.  I give up!  Any ideas appreciated.  Thank you.

    Now, you scared me!  I ran a full scan using Norton 360 (updated and current).  Fortunately, nothing was found.  Even though I know that proves nothing, I feel a little better just fixing the broken association.  I read the dougknox link, but I'm not thrilled at the idea of playing with the registry directly, so I found another way.  I have Goggled "Microsoft (R) HTML-based Application" and found that the file of the application is called "mshta.exe.  Then, I searched for "mshta.exe" Explorer and found that it is in c:\windows\system32.  Finally, I used Windows Explorer/Tools/Folder Options/File Types to access mshta.exe and it associates to the HTA file type.  It works!  Thanks a lot for your help!

  • How to change the setting of compatibility of the MSI installer?

    I am trying to install an MSI file for an application called "Encryption Plus" from the edge of the Guardian.

    When I click with the right button on the MSI file and choose compatibility, I'm presented with the checkbox to select "run this program in compatibility mode for:"

    But the drop down menu contains NO items. It is an empty list. When I click on it, it does not show Windows Vista, Windows XP SP3, etc., etc., as it should.

    If I try to do it on any other exe installation, it well. This happens only with the .msi installation files.

    Have you tried to install the file without changing the compatibility first?  If this isn't the case, you may be able to install and then change real compatibility on the exe file of the application (and Windows 7 can do for you automatically if it detects problems with the application).

    Hope this helps and have a nice day :)

  • HOW CAN I GET A NEW COPY OF THE VISTA INSTALLATION DISC?

    SON HAS INSTALLED AN OLDER VERSION OF TEST OF WINDOWS 7 AND ITS A MESS AND I CAN'T FIND MY INSTALLATION FOR MY VISTA HOME PREMIUM DISC. ANY HELP?

    Vista recovery media obtain and/or use the Partition Recovery Vista on your computer to the factory settings .

    There is no Vista free download legal available.

    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
    See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
    Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
    Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

    They will tell you how to do this.

    Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.
    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
    Old boot disk was not able to start Windows 7 Pro, because 'important startup file' has been corrupted in some way to the previous stop (shutdown appeared 'clean'). The directory of profiles of Thunderbird on the disc 'death' is completely readable, but I can't seem to find "address books" (there are four).
