Computer backup

I backed up my computer Windows 7 on a USB Flash drive and I wonder if it backs up automatically. Or what I need to permanently save it by myself?

Agreement with the two - when you backup (copy) I would take the time to copy on both drives.
If you want a backup of the system as well - you could buy a HDD (USB) for around 100 USD, which is larger than the hard disk of your system, then use Windows backup and in fact create a calendar and leave the reader hanging.  It is not the best backup - as the player remains physically with the system of the majority of the time - but it is automated and help if you forgot on occasion (I'm sure that never happens).

    Hello

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft Community Forums.

We're here to help and guide you in the right direction.

    Help me with little information.

    1. what version of windows you are using on the computer?
    2. what anti-virus program you installed on the computer?
    3. using backup windows or any other third-party backup program?

    Try these methods and check.

    Method 1
Check the status ofVolume snapshot service. If it is started, then tryrestarting the volume shadow copy service and check.
    (a) click Start, type services.msc in the start search.
    (b) search for the shadow copy Volume service.
    (c) make a right click on the Volume Shadow Copy service (VSS) and select Properties. Check if it is started.
    (d) if it is stopped, select start or restart. Make sure that the service is started and set as automatic.
    (e) click on apply and OK, if you make changes.

    Method 2
I suggest do a clean boot and then try to save.
To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135
Note: Follow step 7 to reset the computer to start as usual after the boot process.

    Method 3
Temporarily disable the security software and check if it helps.
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software
Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable the antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network at the time the anti-virus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    Hello

This problem occurs because the backup process detects that the system drive is dirty.
Windows Vista backup always includes the system as part of the backup drive. If the system drive is dirty, the backup process skips the system drive.
and no snapshot of the system drive is created. Therefore, the backup cannot locate a snapshot of the system drive later, and the error occurs.

To identify the problem, try emptying the trash from the PC and the external hard drive. In addition, check the type of files you want to back up. When I click 'save your computer' nothing happens. I tried all the solutions I found here and other forums. I checked the level backup engine service block, Volume Shadow Copy and backup Windows are set to automatic and are running. I ran sfc and he found no problem.  I am able to start sdclt.exe / configure in a command window and it runs and gets "Starting Windows Backup followed by implementing backup...". and more of what seems to be OK.

I can't just start it fron Control Panel. Everything else on the control panel works fine.

    Hello

    1. what exactly happens if you mean when you talk about "clean boot does not work? Please provide details.
    2. have you tested the issue in a new user account, as suggested earlier?

Boot fails only when you have disabled a vital service of Microsoft (S). You must observe extreme caution when performing the clean boot procedure.

Note: Don't forget to restart your computer as usual after the clean boot.

PS: Your son is better suited to the Performance category, so this would be moved (Again) to performance and maintenance

  • Computer backup Windows 7 64 bit

What is the best way to back up my computer to an external hard drive regularly.  HP 1 TB Personal Media Drive came with Roxio program that did not work for me.  The HP website had presented the HP Store safe program as a program recommended for my HP Media Drive Backup.  I have installed the HP SureStore program but kept get invited to install the Windows backup program.   Then I went to Windows 7 system and security and configure windows backup.

Question: Should I use a backup program?  Can I use the HP SureStore program and Windows backup?  What is the recommended backup method?

I don't use it and haven't actually seen BUT this guide: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01944539.pdf

It seems may reside on the HP Pocket Media Drive, if you have a.  This is not a choice, I would like to do a search on the software see where he is.  There must be a place to load, if you can see it as the guide says:

Monitor HP SureStore appears in your system tray, as shown in page 8 of this guide.  Page 5 of this guide:

HP SureStore didn't need to be installed on your computer. The software works directly from your HP PMD.

So, some places seem, in any case.

I'm trying to do a full backup of my external hard drive with windows xp pro, but my dell did not come with a floppy drive installed.  It won't let me choose another drive to make the start of the startup disk or reboot disk.

Most likely your external drive is formatted using FAT32. The maximum value

    Hello

The System Volume Information folder is there any System Restore and The previous Versions of the shadow copies of files are stored.

Use the following procedure to remove the old system restore and previous Versions of files.

Go to Start and type Disk Cleanup in the area of Research . In the results, right-click on Disk Cleanup and select the run as administrator option.

Select the drive you want to clean, and then click OK.

After the program scans the disk, check all the files you want to delete.

Then, click the Other Options tab. In the section Sytem Restore and shadow , click the clear button.

    Click OK.

Click the delete button in the confirmation window to remove all but the most recent system restore point.

Wait for the program to delete all the selected files. Check the disk space that is currently available.
