Computer completely shuts

I have XP Professional installed on my system and just yesterday, I noticed that the PC would not completely stops. This may be a hardware problem, I'm not sure.

At the stop, it says Logging Off, recording of your settings, then Windows stop. LED and HD lights light up on the computer, but always on the system (fan is running and I can open the tray of the CD). Windows is Shutting Down screen will stay there forever. I have to press and hold the power button to stop it.

All other PC functions are perfect; no other effect anywhere

What I've tried so far:

Start the computer in safe mode and try to close it

In the Services tab, hide Microsoft services and all the other disabled

Logged on as another user and try to close it

Scanned the drive for errors, came completely clean

Scanning the computer for virus, came clean, other than tracking cookies

Conducted a scan for malware, come clean completely

I posted this in the Windows forum but given everything here, I think about a hardware problem somewhere.

I initially thought it might be in a State of sleep/hiberate (even if I've never been that), but the screen must not be pasted on the Windows screen stop. It is what to get.

Ideas and the suggesttions are more useful. Thank you!

Glen44, back to the other thread, JoseIbarra has a few questions to ask you about it.

Good luck, again. :)

Hi jirothankyou, that sounds like an add-on, installed itself without your consent. You can try to remove the Add-ons that might be problematic since the Add-ons Manager. The process is explained here. If this does not work, or that you have never installed add-ons, or you want to have a quick fix: just to reset Firefox. This will remove all the Add-ons and put Firefox by default, but it will keep your history, bookmarks, passwords etc. Here is a description of how to do it: Refresh Firefox – reset settings and Add-ons.

  • What is a simple but effective update to the XPS 8500 video card? (Computer complete Newb)

What is a simple but effective update to the XPS 8500 video card? (Computer complete Newb)

Hello Dell Community. I read through the sticky XPS compatibility and some discussions on upgrading video cards. However, I couldn't find something that fits my needs. If you all can help me with this, would be great!

    Characteristics of the computer:

    • Dell Xps 8500
    • Intel Core i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40 GHZ
    • 16 GB of Ram
    • 64-bit operating system
    • AMD Radeon HD 7570

    Needs:

    • Run newer games of 2014/2015 without lag on medium to high heat (GTA V)
    • Relatively easy to install (remove some screws and paste the video card in and voila!)
    • No need to upgrade the power supply

    Budget is $ 200-250:

    • Obviously the lower the better and if need be, the budget is flexible. Depends on if the gain is important for the payment of the sum.

    Look forward to your answers!

    Thank you

    Richard

A card that I know works is $200 would be

    EVGA GeForce GTX 960 SuperSC ACX 2.0 + 2GB GDDR5 128 bit 02 G-P4-2966-KR that it comes with a 2 X 6 pin cable 8 pin Y so the stock power should be good.

more than 2 GB will not improve the map and it will increase the price.

    http://www.Amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-dual-link-graphics-02G-P4-2966-KR/DP/B00SC6HAS4

Don't get me wrong although it won't make a video full screen 4K.

To 3-way SLI GTX 980 and a power of 1500W power supply in an area 51 triad.

I've had my Satellite Pro A200-PSAE4E for about a year and a half now. He ran very well most of the time, but in recent months he has been stop itself randomly. There is no warning or "Windows is shutting down" he just me using my computer to a blank screen.

After frustrated with her, I did a full format my HARD drive and started from scratch. This does not solve the problem, and since then, the taskbar freezes. When I click on it I get the error and the hourglass cursor message "Windows Explorer is not responding... "I then have to click"restart", which makes the taskbar disappear for a few seconds before returning (usually without my sound icon).

The laptop turns off when it is connected to the electric network with & without the battery and when running only on battery, so I excluded all power problem.

I have considered it heats up too, but I use a block of cooling with built-in fans and has not himself in a few minutes after being hit not 24 hours, so I'm not sure that's the problem.

    Someone at - it ideas?

I am running WIndows Vista Home Premium 32-bit if that's any help.

    Thank you.

I think that the problem of overheating.
The fact is that the laptop would be down automatically stops in order to avoid that the pieces of equipment against damage.
In most cases this problem can be solved very easily. Using a jet of compressed air, you can remove the dust from the cooling modules and fans.
I clean my fans from time to time, because I noticed a higher temperature and the laptop was a little stronger.

    Hello Locoust

In my opinion, this is a typical symptom of overheating. The unit can be not cool properly and if the temperature of the material is too high, the unit stops down to protect the hardware components. You can try to remove only dust.

Otherwise you can contact the service partner or even your local dealer. As far as I know they do cleaning professionals. It costs a little, but this way you can be sure that the unit is cleaned properly.

Update in Windows and connected to the Internet with a little time on your hands and knowledge.

Open Internet Explorer, go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ and do CUSTOM scan and determine what updates you need.  Install them.  Reset.  Repeat the visit, CUSTOM and see if updates (one of those that you just installed) back upwards.  Just list those here (KB #)...
