Computer displays an error message that says "system has encountered a problem and needs to close."

Original title: "system has recovered from a seriuos problem."

I get an error message whenever I restart the computer that says "the system has recovered from a seriuos problem" and also when I click on any .exe file to restart the computer.

Please let me know the troubleshooting I must perform

Thank you & best regards

Hello

·         You use Windows XP or Windows vista?

·         What anti-virus program do you use?

·         Did you the latest changes on the computer before the show?

You have posted same question twice, one in the category Windows XP and in Windows Vista, if you are facing this problem in Windows XP, you can read this article:

A "System has recovered from a serious error" message after every restart.

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/317277

The computer may automatically restart, or you may receive a "serious error" message or a stop error message in Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, or in Windows 2000

Follow these methods to solve the problem in Windows Vista:

Method 1:

I also suggest you to download and run the latest Microsoft Scanner on your computer and check to see if it helps:

http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: the data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means there is a risk of data loss.

Method 2:

Also, try to perform the clean boot and check if it helps.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

Note: Don't forget to start your machine in normal mode by following step 7 of the link.

Method 3:

I would say as you try to perform the SFC (System File Checker) scan on your computer and check.

How to use the System File Checker tool to fix the system files missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7
