Computer does not recognize Toshiba external 500G HDD - HARD drive

Sorry, I use a translator, because all the illiterate

A year and a half used the hard drive, and now the computer does not recognize it, the TV too.
In Device Manager, it is there, but says "initialization error".

What should do?
Thanks for the replies

You have partitions software installed on the laptop you?
I guess that the HARD disk does not appear in windows Explorer, but common partition as the partition Wizard tool might be able to recognize the HARD drive.
You can try to format the HARD disk and to create the new NTFS partition.

Another solution:
Usually, you can initialize the disk by DiskManagement.

In disk management, right-click the disk you want to initialize and then click on initialize disk.
In the dialog box initialize the disk, select the disk to initialize.
You can choose to use the master boot record (MBR) or the style of partition GUID partition table (GPT).

Once a disk is initialized, you can create partitions on it.
After you create a partition, you can format the partition to create a filesystem (NTFS).

The CD/DVD device does not even appear at all in Device Manager.

I already checked for the "upper_filter", "lower_filter" with the regedit, but entries are not there, so no help.

    Hello
I m not very well how to help you.

I found some information about this WEIRD disc and it seems that he didn't need an external power supply. Its USB bus powered so I guess around 500mA power since it is the default value provided by a USB 2.0 port.

I don t think that there is a problem of missing software. It is a plug n play device so you need to connect it to the USB port and the system should automatically recognise.

From my point of view of the few you try to connect the external USB ODD two ports to aid a * Y * Cableusb.
I think the reader needs more power provided by a single USB port.

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD

Using disk utility you need to divide the hard drive by using the GUID partition scheme, and then Mac OS Extended journaled. If the disc is not recognized at all, you've probably done something wrong, have a bad SATA cable or a new defective hard disk.

Go to the web site of the manufacturer of the computer and see if they have downloads of BIOS update available for your system and your version of Vista.  If so, download and install it and see if that makes a difference - the update may allow recognition to the (if the BIOS is the problem).  Are you certain that you have done all the necessary BIOS changes and that your choice is right for your situation - check this after update if you need to don't do only once.

Are you absolutely sure that the drive is compatible with the system and your version of Vista and you have installed the drivers of proer? You have a SATA drive it before or is this the first SATA drive on this computer?

I installed a WD 500 GB drive in my Emachines computer.   He appears in "Device Manager" who says it works correctly, but the OS not the poster not in 'My Computer'.  Is there a limit on the size of the disk in Vista?

    Have you partitioned/formatted it?

If not, right click on computer > manage > storage > disk management.

Now right click on the graph for the reader, and select new simple volume. Allocate the amount of space you want to use it, i.e. all or certain of them so that you can have more than one partition on the disk. Now do a right click and format it. Repeat the new simple volume if you decided to make several partitions.

Right-click on the drive letter and go... Properties / AutoPlay tab...
