Computer hangs until the e-mail sent by using Outlook Express
I can't use my computer until I have send an email via Outlook Express. The mouse can click on things on my desktop, but nothing is open until an email is sent.
From the Start button, the cursor flashes on Internet and e-mail but does not come to rest. When Outlook Express is started, my Inbox restores the oldest email rather than the last email and I can't scroll down until an email is sent.
Once an email is sent, all is well in my computer and I can use my desktop icons, click on things in my Inbox, etc..
This has happened for the past two months. Any ideas or suggestions?

The upgrade to Windows 7 using Outlook Express for email
I am currently using Windows XP pro, and considering the purchase of a new PC which has Windows 7 installed. I use Outlook Express as my email program. What would be the procedure to "migrate" my address book and outgoing emails from Outlook EXpress in Windows 7.
Thanks for any help - local retailers just say it may be possible, but not sure about the process.
Windows 7 doesn't have a native email client integrated as previous versions of Windows, so you can decide what email client you use first.

How do you get the e-mail links to use outlook instead of the windows mail app?
I have Outlook (part of office 365) and Windows 8 - but when I click on any 'email' link it uses windows Messaging. In older versions, it would bring the outlook dialog. Is it possible to change this?
Because you have Outlook, I suppose you want to do all the stuff "e-mail associated" with Outlook. If so:
- Go to the start screen
- Start typing "Default programs" without the quotes
- Select "Default programs" when it comes to the top
- Select "Set your default programs"
- Search for "Outlook (office computer)" in the list on the left
- Select "Set this program as default"
If for some reason the last step does not work, you can try to replace this step with these:
- Select "Choose default program"
- Place a check next to "MAILTO URL: mailto" and save it

How to import mail from my XP computer on the Vista laptop?None of this is related to the Windows 7 forum. However:
A: If both computers use the same e-mail address, on both machines:
Tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | Advanced - Check: leave a copy of messages on the server.
On a single computer only, make sure to delete messages after X days to satisfy your allocated space that you get from your server.

I have Wdws XP and using outlook Express.
Work done recently on my computer, and now all the old emails that I had deleted in early 2010 are coming into my Inbox, (over 2500). I guess it is the overload that stops at the email, so I can't receive new messages.
Thases e-mails had been permanently deleted, supposedly. From which they come, and how can I fix it?
You had a frame that says "leave a copy of messages on the server. There is another setting that says "remove when deleting server ', but it was not selected.
Outlook Express knows the messages that he has already recovered, but this information is a lost if you, for example, recreate your e-mail account. Then all messages go down again if they were left on the server.
If the extraction has ceased, it might be because...
one) you forced by cancellation or may be disconnected from the internet (in which case there are more to come), or
(b) he finished, in which case old emails cannot be retrieved again (unless you are replicating what just happened), all mail must be picked up
To avoid what is happening in the future...
(a) according to the State of the parameters mentioned above, you may need to delete messages via webmail, and/or
(b) to change the settings
To change the settings...
- Click on tools
- Click on accounts...
- Click on the Mail tab
- Highlight (click) your e-mail account and then click on the properties button
- Click the Advanced tab
3 background settings are what control the things...
"Leave a copy of messages on the server.
"Remove from server after x days.
"Remove the server after deleting in" deleted items "
Adjust them as see fit you.

Hello Microsoft...

I'd appreciate any help available...
Thank you very much

Transfer of data from Outlook Express and Windows Live Mail:
For Messages:
Copy the * ENTIRE * OE message store folder to a flash drive. (Folders.dbx must be included). Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail. Open WLMail and: file | Import | Messages | Microsoft Outlook Express 6, and the point where it was saved.
Location of OE message store:
In OE: Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.
In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.
For addresses:
Open the address book in OE and file | Export | Address book (wab) and save it to the desktop. Copy it to a flash drive. Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail.
Open the Contacts list in WLMail, (go |) Contacts in the Menu bar) and the file | Import | Address book (wab) Windows and the point where you saved it.
Note: If you use a CD or a DVD instead of a flash drive, after placing on the new machine you must remove the read-only attribute in the properties before you import.
For the account settings:
In OE: Tools | Accounts, select the account and export it to the desktop. This will be an .iaf file. Copy it to the new computer and WLMail desktop: tools | Accounts and import the settings from the location you saved the.

One of the cases registered under disappeared from Outlook Express mail.
Original title: Outlook Express on XP system.
I use Outlook Express on WIN XP system. Recently, one of several under "Saved" mail disappeared (accidentally deleted?) in the list on OE6 files. I checked my HD with Win Explorer and the missing subfolder is always there in C/Doc & Settings/name/Local Settings/object data/identities / {32-char ID} I checked the properties and parameters are the same as all other subfolders and are not hidden.
I tried to import the files using OE6 (file/import / Messages etc) but I get an error message that it cannot access the files because they are either empty (they aren't) or another program is using. The only program that I control which is open is OE6 himself. Although I suspect my part pilot error, I also tried to rename the subfolder on the HD but that did not work.
Another piece of info is that the missing subfolder has both a ".dbx" and a ".bak" hard disk file. It is the only of the subfolders have a file '.bak '. I also have a backup to a flash drive, but he is 6 weeks old and I had a lot of restoration rather the copy on the hard drive because it is updated
Any suggestions?
Thank you

Prompt compaction is triggered whenever you close OE 100 times. So if you compact manually, you don't get invited again until you close OE for another 100 times. Unfortunately there is no way to change this. Dbx files shall be compacted. If they are not, they will move on to an enormous size, and then get corrupted, so it is important to pack on a regular basis.Stevewrote in message News: * e-mail address is removed from the privacy *...
