Computer laptop-TV connection: no TV video

Inspiron 1505 - Windows Vista Home Premium - Media Center

I use an S-video cable with three RCA jacks, plus an audio adapter to connect my TV to my laptop. When I tried this connection two months ago, he had great sound but not picture... So I just put the pending question...

.. up to - this a week ago, when I clicked on the screen "in THE" on my TV (required for a connection to the computer) and seen the screen of my laptop by mistake! To watch Media Center, I enlarged it in my LCD and boom: beautiful, clear video and live TV I could pause, record, watch in slow-mo... I really thought that I had done!

Yesterday, however, all this happened to one unfortunate stop after I decided to rearrange the furniture and left the where it is initially set my TV a paltry foot and a pivot 90 degrees. Apparently something happened in this gesture to break the connection because when I lit the game later, what came through was scientifically. There was no video.

ISo, am right back where I started.

To be sure I didn't tire/loose anything, I meticulously disconnected, reconnected and shook each cable (on TV, laptop, modem, tuner). Nothing. I have even went into Media Center and handed to zero for the configuration of the TV. Once again, nothing.

While Googling and spreading by forum, I learned that my few days of joy of Media Center were not even from official Media Center connection, but rather a display of additional office configuration (Btw, I tried FN + F8 to pass the poster and once again - nothing).

I don't have what could happen - or what to do next.

Help would be so appreciated.

  • C6380 - computer laptop xp prints with connection by usb cable but not wireless

    Hello

I have a c6380, which is about two weeks old. Setup worked fine when I put it on the wireless network and everything is ok.

I installed the software on a vista pc which is connected by cable to my router from sky. This shows very well.

I installed the software on a computer vista laptop that is wireless and prints well.

I also have a computer laptop xp. It is also wireless. The software installed without problem. See the printer etc. However, when I try and print, the printer makes noise and pulls the paper, then the screen says it's printing and then nothing happens. The printer stays like that and eventually the laptop shows a failure to print the message. The document remains in the print queue before deletion, and I have to press Cancel on the printer. If I plug the printer with a usb cable for this laptopit prints without problem.

I ping the printer wireless froom the laptop xp and access the admin screen. It also shows as a network drive in my computer.

I uninstalled the software that came with the printer, downloaded the hp software to ensure that it is up-to-date and re installed.

I put the printer with a static ip address.

I restarted the router as well.

The router uses a channel 11 broadcast key, wpa - psk and is set to g & b modes.

Now, it's really really frustrating because the computer laptop xp my wife, is the main reason why we bought a wirelsss printer because she is a teacher and done loads of printing.

I'm pretty good with pc / networks etc but have now run out of ideas.

    Can someone help me please?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Computer Vista laptop cannot connect to new wireless router

I had the laptop for about a year and a half, and he has a history of being pretty skittish about the wireless connection.  Often he simply refuses to do so.  During vacation last year, for example, the other three laptops connected family easily to wi - fi hotel, but mine has refused to.  There are a lot of other moments when the laptop could not connect, but I was able to connect to two most important places - home and work - without much trouble, and so I haven't looked too hard to solve the problems of connection up to now.

This week, I replaced the router in my original configuration.  The old Netgear router kept giving up the connection between her and my ISP.  The new Linksys router looks rock solid in this regard.  I have a desktop running XP computer that is wired to the new router Linksys, and he sees the internet very well.  My laptop Vista unable to connect (wireless), however.  He sees the network with a lot of intensity of the signal, and it tries to connect.  I get a message saying that the connection takes longer than usual, and then another message saying 'connected.'  However, I do not have internet access, and I see other devices (just the XP desktop, really) on the network.  The Network and Sharing Center shows my laptop connected to the 'unidentified network', and then there is a red X between this network and the Internet (represented by a grey globe).  Laptop computer signals its 'access' as "local only".

From the desktop, I can access the internet, so the router is connected to the points upstream.  From the desktop, I can also access the router configuration pages, and I see that it does not list the laptop as a dhcp client, even if the laptop thinks that it is connected.

ipconfig on laptop computer displays a wacky IPv4 address: 169.254.2.91 and I guess that the laptop does not get an address passed to the router.  I think that there should be a 192.168. *. * address if it worked properly.

Now, I was pretty sure my laptop's wireless adapter to work properly.  It always connects to the old router and it always connects to the work.  But to be sure and really test the new router, I went out and bought another USB adapter wireless.  When I plug it into the computer to Office XP, the Office connects to the router and can see the internet (even with the connection cable is disconnected).  So the new router and the new wireless USB adapater properly.  When I plug the USB wireless adapter into the laptop, the laptop still can't connect and still not get a good ip address assigned by the router.

I've been at this for a few days now, and I could really use some help.  I read a few items in the Microsoft forums that was supposed to fix the problem.  One of them told me to try to start a program called DHCP in the Administrative Tools folder.  I do not have this program on my computer.  Another told me manually change my registry (ouch!) and add a new DWORD value, and set its value to 1.  I did, but it did not fix the problem.

I would be very grateful for any help.

    Jim

Alright.  I am home to work and back again.  I have read several posts with people reporting problems similar to mine, so I guess I'm not alone in this.  In a thread, the experts proposed to start in Mode safe mode with networking.  So I gave that a shot.  I still couldn't really connect - just this 'local only' without an assigned IP address.

One thing I did notice, is that my laptop brand and its wireless adapter seem to get a special mention in most positions.  I have a HP Compaq Presario CQ50 Notebook PC running Vista Home Premium SP2, 32-bit version (even if the processor is 64-bit).  The wireless adapter is an Atheros AR5007.  Several other people with this card have reported problems.  Maybe it's the cause?

I look into updating the driver for the card, even if yesterday's test with the separate USB wireless adapter showed that the problem could not just be limited to the Atheros card.  To search for a driver update, I connect my laptop to the router with an ethernet cable.  It's nice to see the web on your laptop.  No update driver does.

For fun, I try to establish a wireless connection with the router, while the wired connection is still in place.  Looks like maybe it worked?  I say a little prayer and unplug the ethernet cable...

It's a miracle!  I have a wireless connection to the router and beyond, to the internet.  Huzzah!

The network has a real name, too, instead of just 'unidentified network '.  I want to change the network type from the public to the private, which I was unable to do while he was still 'unidentified '.

Can I terminate the connection so that I can see what happens when I try to reconnect.

Another miracle!  It connects to and still see the internet.  Callooh!  Colay!

Next test: see what happens after a reboot... (please, please, please)...

    Ch-ching!  It works again!

Final (?) test: reinstall the McAffee internet security suite and restart.

    And it still works.

    Here's a recap of what I found:
    1. laptop could not connect wireless router again, despite dozens of attempts in which I get every available straw
    2. laptop computer could see the internet when connected to the router
    3. laptop could connect wirelessly to the router while the wired connection is in place
    4. Once this first wireless, laptop computer was able to connect to the router even when the wired connection has been removed and the computer restarts

I would describe my discovery above as a work-around rather than as a solution, however.  It does not always help me stay connected the next time I'm on vacation, for example.  But perhaps the information I provided can help experts to diagnose the real problem a little.

I look forward to hear something back.

    Jim

  • where to find the switch for wireless connection on computer laptop esprimoV5535

    Hello

    ·         If it works much earlier?

Through my research, I think it's the F1 key, you need to press on and press and hold the FN key (lower-left beside Ctrl) at the same time. This should illuminate the LED on the front of the computer laptop-extreme right wireless.

You can view the documentation for the laptop to switch wireless for more information.

For any other help, I suggest you to contact your laptop manufacturer support.

What do you mean, "I connected the two with a VGA cable. You have more than one TV, you have tried?

Have you ensured that the laptop is out the signal from the VGA connector? Usually, you press a key (or key combination) to switch the signal between the built-in screen, external monitor, or both.

It is possible, that you need to go to the display settings on the computer and turn on the external screen, but first check material method.

  • Is it a bad idea to use ICS on a Windows 98 computer for a Vista laptop to connect to the local network?

I recently added another computer on my network that moved the connection cable free use to connect my laptop. Unfortunately, I don't have a 4 port switch. I have an old PCI 10/100 Ethernet card available from a dead computer, but the only machine that has slot machines and pilots is my Windows 98SE print server. My modern system uses PCI - X, and there are not any drivers Mac OS 8.6 for the card.

Wouldn't be a good idea to turn on Internet connection sharing on this old Win98SE machine so that I connect my laptop on the network through ICS? I use the laptop at home very often except to transfer files to the desktop and 3/4 of the time that I use a flash drive.

My network is behind a hardware firewall of a Linksys BEFSR41 cable/DSL router/switch.

I heard about the security issues with Win98 and all that, are there additional risk with ICS?

Oh, and no, I don't have a wireless access point. I recently acquired the laptop and don't really need at home.

Win98SE ICS can be unreliable, but I don't think it poses a security risk for the laptop that connects to it.

Browsing the Internet on the Win98SE computer itself can be risky, because there has been no update security for Win98SE in a long time, and it is difficult to find an antivirus program that runs on Win98SE.
