Computer off during the update, now will boot back to the top

Original title: my grandson turned off my computer in the middle of an update now my computer will not boot even upward.  It says it can not find or is a missing component.  Help

I have run the diagnosis of auto repair and he said: he can't fix.  It also States that it is running in limited mode when I go to help.  I can not get windows to come on the screen.  When you try to start a blue screen with writing of hot flashes, but it is fast for me to read to see what he says.  I tried everything I know to freeze the screen to see what he says.  I don't know what to do.  Any help, which would therefore never appreciated.  Thank you.

Hi Wil Lopez,

·         This error message do you receive when you try to start in normal mode?

Follow these methods.

Method 1: Try to boot using the option 'disable automatic restart in the event of system failure' so that you can see to the bottom of the Blue error screen.

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/advanced-startup-options-including-safe-mode

Method 2: Follow these steps:

Step 1: Start the computer in safe mode and check if the problem persists.

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

Step 2: If the problem does not persist in safe mode, put the computer in a clean boot State before proceeding with the installation of windows update.

Note: After installing windows update, follow step 7 in the link to return the computer to a Normal startupmode.

Method 3: If the problem still persists, then perform a restore of the system of windows with a disk recovery (winre).

Yes, the product number would be helpful.  Please do not provide the serial number, however.

I think that your problem is perhaps that the monitor is not compatible with Win 8.1.  The only available updates are for Win XP and Vista.  You can find this information in the link that I provided in the article titled "Software Update".

  • computer is turned off during the update update wiil not finished

    Hello

The initial power, known as the POST, press F8 the end POST and before Windows starts to load. You may need to press the F8 key repeatedly. Should you get a boot menu, select the last good known Configuration. It will return the system to the State of the last successful connection and should allow you to fully load the system.

If this is not the case, go to the start menu and there rstrui.exe execution of the command line to load the system restore, choose Safe mode with command prompt. Choose a date prior to the occurrence of this problem.

As a general rule, you should never turned off a system while an update is in progress because it can paralyze the whole of system files. For this reason a laptop shouldn't run on battery for an update.

If the above does not work, try to make a Bootable ERD to do a Startup Repair:

As is the case with most computers/laptops these days, they do not come with good Vista disc to repair only the recovery disks.

As your grave in the category above, download the ISO on the link provided and make a bootdisk of it.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

You can make a tool to restart system, System Restore, etc. with it.

  • accidentally turned off during the update of windows

Guys, im using sony vaio with vista premium OS and it is automatically updated, I had used to remove my battery for use at home, during the update of windows, I accidentally kick off the power cord and it disconnected from the main power switch and turned off, when I open it I saw a note on the bottom right 'tm this copy of windows vista is not authentic.

someone could help me on this guys, how can I do recover without reformatting my laptop.

    Please help me guys...

    Thanks in advance...

Needless to say, cutting the current during the update process can cause all sorts of problems - many not even related to the update itself.  It is a common branching.

Do you know when this problem started?  Try a system restore to a point in time BEFORE the problem started.  Here is the procedure: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-system-restore/.  Don't forget to check the box to show more than 5 days of restore points.  If the first attempt fails, then try an earlier point or two.  NOTE: You will need to re - install any software and updates that you have installed between now and the restore point, but you can use Windows Update for updates.  I don't know if this will solve the problem, but it might.  It's worth a try (and it can be useful if there are other problems that you have not yet detected).  Whether or not it works, you will need to re - install the update (and this time won't turn off - LOL).

If you still have the problem of validation after system restore, and then click Start / computer / system properties and check the bottom of the Activation section.  Your system always shows that it is enabled?  If this isn't the case, then reactivate.  To activate manually, go to start, search, and type in slui 4 enter.  Enter your country and press Next.  You will be on a screen with a phone number and a bunch of codes below.  Dial the number and browse automatic guests until you get to a human being.  Have your handy product code because it will be asked.  Explain the situation, but it's the same PC.  They should give you a code to enter on this screen to activate Vista.

If this does not resolve the "not genuine" message, please post your problem in the Windows Genuine Advantage Forum: http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/genuinevista/threads , where the experts on this kind of problem will be more than happy to help you with your problem.  They will probably ask you to run a program and download the results so they can examine in order to find the problem - just follow their instructions.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Recovery without disks manually off during Windows Update (well after the finished download) - Vista Home Premium SP2

    Hello

I have an Acer with Vista SP2. It has no boot and auto repair after that I stupidly shut the computer manually during a Windows Update.

I fell asleep and woke up two hours after the start of the update of Windows. Then without thinking, I did a manual stop without recognizing the update restart message. Now Windows does not start, and the auto repair / recovery options have failed three times. Initially he gave me a (?) CMOS settings have changed the error so I went into Setup (with the delete key) and note the date / time has been reset to the date of manufacture of the computer, do not change that. I have however system virus detection function then it off after that repair failed the first time.

I bought a second hand computer and I have no original discs and I can't find a manually created recovery disc I thought I made some time ago. The label of Windows with Windows Vista Home Premium product key is on the computer. I have access to a Windows 7 CD since another cmputer if this can help me.

I sent thisquestion from another computer.

    Error message:

    SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (atikmdag.sys)

Now back to not start upward again, hangs with the HP logo on the screen.

    Hi there @ldgie25.

That the Forums are with you!  I understand that, after a few updates, your computer does not start correctly and freezes on the HP logo.   I'm happy to help you with this.

Since it was started once, but then had a blue error screen, I suggest using the computers HP - use Microsoft System Restore (Windows, 10, 8).   Follow the instructions in the section «restore your computer when Windows is unable to boot normally»  See if it will start normally after the restoration. If yes then you probably want to prevent the offending update to install again.

Please see the following for how to do this:

How to temporarily prevent an update for driver reinstallation of Windows 10 - support.microsoft.com

  • Computer freezes during the update of the BIOS

I have a hp pavilion dv5-1170ei and he had problems with the audio and the quick launch buttons after the upgrade to Windows 7. I decided to update the bios, because it was the only thing that I had not updated. Now, the computer is frozen with the update of the BIOS still running. I had the same problem with a dv5-1199ei and it worked fine after upgrading the BIOS. Either way, I upgraded from Vista Home premium to Win 7 Ultimate.

I don't know what to do.

    Help!

I had the same problem of problem freezing the computer during BIOS update. I have a HP Pavilion DV5 laptop 1126ee. When I update the bios, I don't notice her latest version of the bios installed on my system. I tried several ways of the various positions in the HP support forum. But I couldn't boot my system. Finally I could start my system. find the steps I did: -.

I first create a crisis recovery HP 2 GB USB key

downloaded Bios F.16A file on the HP (for HP DV5 1126ee) support site

Then copied 3602F16. FD AND 3603F16. FD TO USB

and renamed its copy to 3602.BIN, 3603.BIN, 3602.WPH, 3603.WPH, 3602F16. BIN, 3603F16. BIN. All files in the same USB BIOS.

Then I unplugged the power and removed the battery.

Insert USB drive into the system, Hold Windows + B button, plugged in the power and turned on the laptop. When the USB key is charge flashing I took out the key combination. Then I heard a unique single beep (before checking time is 2 + 1 beep and continuous beep). After the shutdown of the system 2-3 minutes automatically. Then I removed the USB and turn on the system. Now my system works perfectly.

  • "Windows could not update the configuration to start the computer" error during the upgrade of Vista in Windows XP

I have a laptop Dell Inspiron 1505, that is running Windows XP Media Center Sp3. I'm doing a place in upgrading to Vista since the disks to upgrade Dell... Everything's fine until the 'Expansion of the files' [27%], then the installation fails with this message: "Windows could not update the configuration to start the computer. Installation cannot continue. Any changes made to your computer during the upgrade". I did a google search for a fix that involves changing a value in the registry in the HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\ {4D36E976-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} for example change the value to PartMgr Upperfilters. Unfortunately, this value was the default for my registry key changes could be made. Some other fixes involved the renaming of Upperfilter.bak, for Upperfilters unfortunately this .bak value does not exist in my registry.

I tried to boot from the disk of Vista and changing the msconfig for a selective startup but without result.

In addition, the stall even appears at a similar point when you try to upgrade to Windows 7. Is it because of the presence of hidden Media Direct and Dell restore partitions? Compatibility Assistant programs for the two operating systems found nothing significant. Anti virus has been disabled during the installation procedure. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Hello

Not quite, but pretty close. Media Direct could not lock the boot sector. It must be a BIOS lock or a mechanism of protection provided by your antivirus software.  Given that, I would check your program settings then for all that prevents changes to the boot sector. You may find more easy just uninstall it and reinstall it after the upgrade. Good luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Crazy" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com Windows help - www.rickrogers.org

Basically my Webcam USB 2.0 did not work. So I decided to go for a complete 'Reset PC' in the definition of PC options. I went through all the sections and clicking next and Begin.  After like a few seconds only, while the process has just begun and the PC was 'reboot', accidentally someone turned it off.  When I turned it on after some time, Reset / 120 Hz PC do not work now. They show "cannot find the required files" error.

I think there are a few problems with my hidden Recovery Partition which is now can be damaged due to sudden power loss and cannot be launched now. I have not at any installation media or recovery disc.  During this time, now when I select the option 'Create the recovery drive' in Control Panel, the option "Copy recovery drive" has not been highlighted and cannot be selected. It also shows the same error of missing necessary files. I REALLY NEED TO SET THIS Option RESET/REFRESH not a workaround solution.

The problem is that you need to install CS5 from a setup file or the installation disc. You cannot just copy files because there are a lot of additional files that get to the right place.

You will need to use the Adobe cleaner to remove all the stuff on your new computer:

Use the CC cleaning tool to resolve installation problems. CC, CS3 - CS6

Then download an installer for CS5:
