  I thought about the creation of recovery disks but my cd drive is not working properly, and I don't want to take the risk of buying an external cd drive not knowing not if the problem can be solved...

  It is not easy to tell whether it is hardware or software related issue. best way to test is installation of recovery image. Recovery image is tested and if there are no some portable hardware problem should work fine.
