    If your machine had XP on it when you got it, you should have a sticker on the bottom.  That contains the license (serial) for everything that was on the computer when you bought it.

  • IE8 has disappeared from my computer and I can't retrieve it or download it successfully.

    Works fully update Vista HP on a gateway DX4710-09, Pentium Dual core E5200, 6 GB of RAM DDR2, HD 640GO with lots of space empty.

    Originally 32 and 64 bit versions of IE8 was installed and usable.  Just for a test, on 06/02/13 I installed and set Firefox as default browser but do not delete IE8 or other than to replace it with Firefox by default.  I used Firefox and IE8 such as required and all worked well for a while and then a few days ago two versions of IE8 has mysteriously disappeared from my computer and I was not able to get a return.  I tried to download but for some reason any that does not work.  I checked the list of installed programs and IE8 does not appear here and the two icons disappeared in the start menu, as well as in the Group of quick launch.  An IE folder appears in Windows Explorer in the Program Files folder as the Program Files (x 86) folders.  The subfolders in each list of files with a modification of 18/02/13 date I think it's the date IE8 disappeared.  Being not qualified for one more, I did nothing with any of the files in these folders for fear of making things worse.  Someone care to volunteer to get out of this dilemma?

  • After the closure of Windows XP on my medion Tower desktop computer it now primer not. The message I get is Retten.exe file not found.

    I have a Medion Tower Office that, like fine until this last time, I closed Windows and now won't start or switch to safe mode recovery mode, ect., the message I get is unable to find the retten.exe file. It will not allow even me to re - install Windows xp from the disk that came with the desktop computer. Can any help?

    There is no download available on the Net and your hard drive as failed now, you are unable to make the recovery of the disks.

    And you cannot use from recovery disks of a different brand or model (laptop) to reinstall Vista on your Tower / Desktop

    Contact HP and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.
