Computer toggles randomly on the desktop

I have had this problem since I built my computer in January.

The problem is that my computer, at any time, on the Office of whatever program/application/game that I used. Once I have retrieve the app in the home (by clicking on the icon in the taskbar), the same problem occurs in the following 30 seconds. After wearing the app back in the home, for the second time, the problem not for hours.

I tried a fix since I had the problem, but have had no luck. I tried to ignore it, but now I'm at the point where it is quite frustrating.

If you suggest to close all running applications might want to get the focus, I doubt this would be the problem. The only other open apps are Skype, steam and Microsoft Security Essentials.

In fact, they are the same apps that I used to use, in the same way (reduced or all just), with my laptop, which has never had this problem. My desktop PC is also almost an exact replica (stuff on the hard drive, users, settings, programs [not physically or hardware wise]) as my laptop.

Someone already had this problem or know of a fix to it? I would really appreciate it.

(The topic is under hardware and drivers because I think that maybe it's a driver problem or a hardware conflict.)

After the test, using applications constantly, I came to the conclusion that remove it the Interface of Session Net Akamai did indeed solve my problem.

Even if I solved the problem myself, I thank you, Shawn, trying to help me on the way. The problem was indeed a screen off or an application without interface.

However, I still don't know why the msiInstaller never showed anything it either and don't ever succeeded with everything he did. In any case, the problem is solved and no more random office appearances.

  • Computer starts normally but the desktop icons/Dowes/all are unclickable and cannot do something with them?

My brother has recently installed FireFox on its Windows XP (the only recent change on this laptop). Last night my mother crashed the computer (the only thing she did apparently was click on volume control panel too often making it appear several times, and then go away, she then tried to open the shortcut on the desktop "internet explore", who then tried to load FireFox instead, as it has become the default value). From there on, the computer did not respond, and I could not close normally, so I had put out of service. Today, we have tried several times to use this laptop, but although it loads normally and the Mouse/touchpad moves correctly, we cannot click on any icons or the dowes or whatever it is is completely insensitive.

Could someone tell me what to do?

    Ok

Yes, it's more than enough RAM.

Boot mode safe again and check all entries in msconfig to see from evry time you start.

    Start/run and type

    Msconfig

    Ok

    Startup tab

Keep the page open, then click on the link below with your other machine. It will tell you what are all the entries and see if you can disable them or not. It will also identify malicious programs.  Turn off everything that is not necessary to run at startup

    http://www.SysInfo.org/StartupList.php

Read the key at the top of page. Use the search box to check all your entries

When you restart, you will get a message saying that you have begun in "Selective startup" click "don't show this message again" and then click OK

Also check if there is a yellow speckles in Device Manager

    Right click on my computer/properties/hardware/Manager

  • Video randomly resizes the maximum size on my HP P6740F desktop computer

My wife has a PC HP P6740F.  It is currently running Windows 7 Premium.  His computer is connected to a ViewSonic monitor.  It uses the Microsoft Comfort Optical Mouse 3000 and the Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard.  There were no changes to the computer hardware.

We had our computers for about 15 or 16 months.  For the last month at random times its screen will grow in size until it reaches the maximum.  She can bring to the size by holding the CTRL key and using the scroll on the mouse wheel.  She played a game called Jewel Quest and it makes certain demands on the video card.  We do not know if this problem is related to the video game or another problem.  I asked him to start her computer after she ended the game but that has no effect.

I also have the same computer and I have not had problems.  I do not play video games, and that's why I thought that it might be related.

I wonder if it's a known problem or how to fix.

    Thank you.

    Hello Abbey_Normal,

I would venture to say that this is not a known problem or you would go into the same problem as well, but it may be a problem with the driver that is currently installed on the computer.

    1. go to the control panel

    2. Select system and security

    3. then choose Device Manager

    4. under the terms of graphics card would be the monitor drivers, do a right click and uninstall

At this point your monitor will turn off and we need allow Windows reinstall the driver, but we need to restart the computer.

    To restart

    1. press the Windows key

    2. press the right arrow key twice

    3. press r

After the reboot it should log on Windows as usual and re-install the drivers. Check the device to see if everything works correctly at this time.

  • Firefox asked a "refresh", computer locked up before finished, created a "old data FireFox file on the desktop.

Firefox asked a 'refresh', I pressed the button refresh and process running, computer then locked up to complete before. He has created a "old data file FireFox" on the desktop. I need to understand how trasfer the data in the old file of data in my FureFox 'new' to allow me to access my bookmarks and other. Thank you!

Hi Ken, Firefox will not start now, complaining that it cannot find its profile, or it starts up, but data are incomplete?

Here is a procedure to return to your prior to refresh the data. It takes 5 minutes, but it's probably faster than the recovery of individual data files and those in a new profile from loading.

Check inside the folder 'Old data Firefox' update adds on your desktop in a folder with a name random semi. If there is only one, that probably has your old settings and Add-ons. If there is more than one, you'll want to work with one who has been updated recently.

Once you have identified the profile folder, that you want to restore, here is my "old profile resurrection suggested procedure:

    Overview

Here are the steps described in more detail below:

    1. Create a new Firefox profile
    2. Delete all of this profile folder
    3. Copy in all of the old profile folder

Create a new profile for Firefox (Windows)

Out of Firefox and start in the Profile Manager by pasting the following text in the search box of the start menu, or the start > Run dialog box and pressing ENTER:

    firefox.exe -P

Note: any time want to switch profiles, exit Firefox and return to this dialog box.

Click on the button create a profile, give it a name like OldSettings and skip the option to change the location of the folder. Select the new profile from the dialog box, and then start Firefox.

Open the new profile folder in Windows Explorer

Firefox in the new profile should look like a new installation of the plant. Open the troubleshooting information page by using either:

    • button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > troubleshooting information
    • Menu help > troubleshooting information
    • type or paste everything: in the address bar and press Enter

In the first table, click on the view file"" button. Firefox will launch your new profile folder in Windows Explorer.

This folder open, switch back to Firefox and get out by using either:

    • "3-bar" menu button > button "power".
    • (menu bar) File > Exit

Firefox is closed, the profile folder must be front and Center, or you can activate it by using the taskbar.

Copy old data instead of new

In this new profile folder you just popped open - NOT the one on your desktop - select all content (you can use Ctrl + a) and delete (you can press Delete on the keyboard).

Leave this window open, open or switch to your folder of old data of Firefox. Consult your old profile folder. At this level, you should see a folder named bookmarkbackups among other things.

Select all (Ctrl + a) and copy (or right-click > copy or Ctrl + c).

Switch to the empty profile folder in another window and paste (or right-click > paste or Ctrl + v). This may take a few minutes because some files are large.

    Launch Firefox

Firefox should start in this 'new' profile with the old resurrected profile data. Success?

  • My computer crashes randomly (usually by moving the mouse) and Microsoft, NVIDIA tried everything to fix it with no luck. Anyone having this problem? I have an Alienware Area 51 with two video cards in SLI 8800 and 4 GB of RAM.

The display freezes randomly. The Windows desktop, on the Web pages and during the games. This problem started when I had Vista and I have improved the thought that the BONE was the problem. It is not the case. I added 2 GB of the thought of RAM I need more to no luck. I have now deleted 1 graphics card and the problem persists. I deleted all software except the OS and the problem persists. When you start Windows in safe mode, that the computer does not freeze.

You are either having a video card driver problem or a ram memory stick problem.  I suggest that you check your ram and the settings in the BIOS.  Use security settings BIOS for the ram as the auto setting.  The Intels i7 have a little problem sometimes with more than one ram Strip and having the highest speed at stake.  Check this and get back with me. I have a simple philosophy: just assume everyone is a piece of c.r.a.p. and then be pleasantly surprised if you find someone who is not.

  • Mouse randomly stops on the desktop and in Windows 7 x 64 applications.

(Clean), I installed Windows 7 64 bit on my desktop and have experienced random/the mouse cursor pauses while using the system.  The break is almost as if the system is in heavy CPU mode and then everything catches up.  It happens every minute about and lasts a second or two.

The mouse is a Logitech MX510 wired (not wireless) USB mouse.   I use the Win7 default mouse driver (as recommended on the site Web of Logitech).

I tried all of the following conditions:
-J' kept the Task Manager open to see if it seems to be all rhyme nor reason for applications that are at the top of the CPU usage when the break happens, but have not been able to discern a trend.
-J' tried several different USB ports, including the external USB hub as well as different ports on the system itself
-J' stopped my antivirus real-time protection real (Microsoft Security Essentials)
-J' used both the plain built Win7 in pilot as well as the software Logitech SetPoint (64-bit version)
-I am at my last revision of the BIOS to my desktop (Dell XPS 710)

This has no effect on the issue.

Issues happening with open applications and with nothing else running but the OS (and appropriate background apps).

Needless to say, idle random mouse is infuriating when you try to use the system for all the ideas are greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

I have dealt with this issue for some time and I think I can finally say that it isn't a problem of operating system. Same behavior takes place on MAC, Linux. Also, it is not limited to USB, bluetooth mice have the same issues. What I've found, is that there is a HUGE conflict between wireless devices that share the same 2.4 Ghz band (mouse, keyboards, routers, network cards, etc.).  It is not as noticeable on other devices because there is no visual indication of the problem, but the question is there (see latency).

From what I can tell (I spit balling here) is too crowded. In simple terms, that's the radio band is too crowded. If you just pull the list of routers in many areas, you will see at least a dozen or more. Try this to humor yourself, start downloading something on a nearby wireless computer and see if the other PC mouse starts to work.

I hope that that completely on this one cause if I'm right there may be not all patches to come until someone pass the mouse a bunch of diff.
