Computer upgraded with the new motherboard - Vista now invalid License - how to re - activate?

I installed a new motherboard & now my computer is telling me that my Windows Vista isn't a valid licensed product. When I enter my product key it tells me that it is in use by another user.

Ideas:

  • You have problems with programs
  • Error messages
  • Recent changes to your computer
  • What you have already tried to solve the problem

As long as you are trying to install a version of Vista OEM on your new motherboard then try to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)
1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4
(2) press the ENTER"" key.
(3) select your "country" in the list.
(4) choose the option "activate phone".
5) stay on the phone and wait for a person to help you with the activation.

  • BSOD when trying to install Win7 64 bit with the new motherboard

    Hi all

I have the following BSOD problem:
I installed a new motherboard in my system (a MSI P43 C51). Before that, I got a Gigabyte G41MT-S2P. The rest of the configuration is: Q9650, Thermaltake truespirit 90 cooler, 2 x 4 GB DDR3 1333, GTX 470, 750W PSU, case name, SATA HDD 500 GB, Windows 7 64 bit.

Well, the problem started when I tried to boot into windows with the new motherboard: I got BSOD 1 second after windows starts loading. I thought... new motherboard, install new windows, so I tried to install windows 7 64 bit DVD and USB stick, I get the STOP: 0x0000000A error during installation. I changed the HARD drive, thinking that it could be a bad sector problem, but no, the other hard drive behaved exactly the same thing. I got BSOD at 40% extraction, extraction of 90% and for the moment "Complete the installation..." ». I also tried to install with the stick of memory only one, spent between ports, everything. The material I have works, as I played on my PC every day in the last month and received no. BSOD, also had a small overclock the CPU and the GPU (100 MHz on the processor, that the old motherboard supported more than 343 fsb and about 100 MHz on the GPU). It was stable, no errors, no nothing.

My thoughts are only, after asking some knowledge that work in computer support, it could be a problem of version of the BIOS (BIOS is 2005..) and the fact that my Win 7 installation kit is without Service Pack 1 (a colleague told me that he had this problem for the PC more than once and after trying to install SP1 It went smoothly and without errors)

I just got a new "blank" DVD of Win 7 64 bit with SP1. What I'll try today is to Flash the bios with the latest version and install the OS on a HARD drive new, sealed. He could not be my system components, because they are compatible and they worked 1 day before with no problems! I have literally NO IDEA what could be the problem. Today, I'll try the installation of the new DVD and with the new version of the BIOS. If this does not work, I have no idea what I can do... It is a sucky situation.

If you have any suggestions, please, don't keep it to yourself :-D

    Thank you!
    Alex

    ==============================================

References to Vista also apply to Windows 7.

Drivers could be at fault, however the problems of disk or security/antivirus/antispyware products are
just as likely to be the root cause that they can force a driver to corrupt or go out of bounds.
The video driver or something affecting it would be questionable.

At the end of this message, I'll post a bluescreen generic and in the next convenience store
How do to update the drivers and BIOS but also to check memory message.

    -----------------------------------

    BCCode: 0a 0x0000000A

    Cause

This bug check is issued if the memory paged (or invalid) is accessible when the IRQL is too high.

The error that usually generates this bug check occurs after the installation of the faulty device driver or service system, BIOS.

If you encounter a bug 0xA control during the upgrade to a later version of Windows, this error can be caused by a device driver, system service, an anti-virus or a backup tool that is not compatible with the new version.

    Solve the problem

If a kernel debugger is available, get a stack trace.

To resolve an error caused by the faulty device driver or service system, BIOS

    1. Restart your computer.
    2. Press F8 to character-based menu that displays the choice of operating system.
    3. In the WindowsAdvanced Options menu, select last known good Configuration . This option is most effective when a pilot or a service is added at a time.

To resolve an error caused by an incompatible device driver, system service, virus scanner, or backup tool

    1. Check the system log in Event Viewer for error messages that may identify the device or driver that caused the error.
    2. Try disabling the cache in memory of the BIOS.
    3. Run the diagnostics of equipment provided by the manufacturer of the system, in particular the scanner memory. For more information about these procedures, see the manual of your computer.
    4. Make sure that the latest Service Pack is installed.
    5. If your system has cards (SCSI) small computer system interface, contact the card manufacturer for updated Windows drivers. Try to disable sync negotiation in the SCSI BIOS, check the wiring and the SCSI ID of each device and confirming the proper termination.
    6. For devices (IDE) peripheral electronic integrated, set the built-in as only primary IDE port. Also, check each IDE device to the right setting master/slave/stand alone. Try to remove all IDE devices except for the hard drives.

If the message appears during installation of Windows, make sure that the computer and installed devices are listed in the list of the products tested Microsoft Windows market.

    Comments

Before upgrading to a new version of Windows, remove all third-party device drivers and system services and disable any antivirus. Contact software manufacturers for updates of these third-party tools.

  • Microsoft cares if I use my old OS OEM with the new motherboard?

I am building a newish computer; Microsoft cares any longer, if I use my old OS OEM with the new motherboard? All of the previous answers to this question are all about 2011 are resolutely "affirmative", they care. The OEM of Windows 7 versions are identical to the versions commercial full license with the following exception:

-OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft

-OEM Licenses are tied to the computer first you install and activate it on

-OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard

  • Windows 7 Home Edition Premium does not start after the upgrade to the new motherboard

A year ago, I bought a Compaq PC with a preinstalled version of Windows Vista installed. Then, I contacted HP and bought a Premium upgrade Windows 7 and starting to upgrade to Windows 7 family. Now, I came to a point where I wanted to upgrade my PC and I bought a card mother Gigabyte and a processor for the new socket. I was planning on using the same hard drive, but I found that I can not boot into Windows 7 more. The operating system is to see what he thinks, it's a brand new computer?

Have I not the license right credentials to run Windows 7 on this computer 'new '? The old motherboard is of no use to me, and the operating system only and will only ever be used on a hard drive. If it is all ok - how can I get my Windows installation to work, keeping in mind that I only have a Windows 7 upgrade disk?

    Best regards, jazznaz

Yes, it's a brand new computer, but you should be able to use, the license would be out of respect and you would just set it using a key of Windows 7 Edition Home Premium full version.

Because you used the Windows Vista OEM license as a basis for the Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade qualification, this license is more in use since you changed the motherboard. This means you need to get a full license.

  • Satellite X 200-20 sec runs slower with the new motherboard

I wonder if anyone can help - under warranty I just got a replacement motherboard. (Before replacing the computer turned off within 10 seconds of startup). Replacement of the computer being runnning to about 90% of the speed that it was working before replacement. I spoke with the support from Toshiba claiming that without "concrete facts" on the speed there is nothing they can do (ie. they book in). In a way, it's just, but this is just simply not as good as before and various tests I did (which they claim to be subjective) always show that the computer is slower.

Toshiba support really like the performance index Windows (WEI), I currently have like 4.8 - I think it's the same as it was before the replacement - but I've read that even if it is not that reliable. Can anyone with a 200-20s X please tell me their score of WEI and a 3DMark 06 score?

After replacing the motherboard I also got a new disc (BD - ROM) on E: of course is not X 200 - 20s model Blu - Ray so means that the motherboard is different from the original, although the part number is apparently the same (according to Toshiba support).

I would like to know if anyone else has had a similar problem, and if they were able to find a solution. I am aware that the warranty expires in November and therefore make things quickly if something can be done.

If you can help, let me know.

    Thank you very much!

  • I've upgraded to the new firefoc but now I can't find all the useful stuff that were there as inages. Where did you hide these?

Yep, I kept receiving system messages that my firefox browser has been exceeded that I needed to upgrade to the latest version and I finally did.

But now, all very practical features to display until the present time I open firefox all which are parties. For example IMAGES. Where they were hidden and how do I access it?

I have to say that I prefer the look and feel of Firefox before the upgrade.
Features that users use often does not have to be hidden - who likes to click on the buttons as before arriving at what should be readily available?

Versions of Firefox 4 + use a new build-in home page named Subject: House with a Google search bar on this issue (no internet access required for the loading of this page).

What about: home page only shows a few clips and has a button to restore the previous session, as appropriate.

If you want a home with extras page, and then set a different page than the homepage like www.google.com such as used in versions of Firefox 3.

    Hello

Sounds like a screen resolution problem...

    • Click with the right button on a part empty your desktop, and then click Properties
    • Click on the settings tab
    • Move the resolution slider all the way to the right
    • It should choose the native resolution of your monitor
    • Click OK

The native resolution of your screen are not selectable based on the ability of your graphics drivers. Updated drivers may solve this problem, but perhaps also that it will not.

  • Just upgraded to the new version and now adjust no longer works, what is the solution?

After the upgrade to a newer version the shrink to fix the width of the screen no longer works. What is the solution?

Code changes for the HiDPI landed in Firefox 22 and later (bug #844604).

You can change the layout.css.devPixelsPerPx and increase or decrease the value of 0.1 or 0.05 as follows to adjust the size of fonts and other elements in Firefox.

    • The layout.css.devPixelsPerPx pref is a string parsed in float value and allows you to adjust the dimensions of all elements (user interface and web pages) specifically (resolution 0.1 or 0.05).
    • You can use values between 0.05 and 1.0 to reduce the size of the elements or use a value greater than 1.0 to grow and enlarge the elements (percentage divided by DPI, % / DPI).

If the web pages must be adjusted after changing this pref so you can watch Default FullZoom Level or NoSquint.

    Hi Swurveman,

Check the State of the audio device in Device Manager. Follow the steps for the same thing:

    a. click on start

    b. click Run, in the Run dialog box type devmgmt.msc

    (c) in the Device Manager window, look for the video audio player and game controllers and expand drive, double-click the sub element to check if an error message or error code is listed.

Adding to it, I suggest you to update the device driver for Layla 20 card from the manufacturers Web site.
