Computer upgrades

I get upgraded my processor and motherboard soon. My question is, if I upgrade my processor and motherboard now, can I buy OEM of Windows 7 (or 8) now and update my graphics cards and get the new RAM later or I have to buy and install all at once?

What version of Windows is installed on your PC now?

Is it OEM (came pre-installed with the PC or a 'Retail' (Full or upgrade) version?

Windows 7 OEM is related to the first motherboard you install on and you cannot move to another motherboard.

Windows 8 OEM / system integrators version can be moved and enabled on another motherboard.

With respect to what you should buy, the new motherboard may require ram DDR3 which you do not have on the old motherboard. As long as e-card graphic is PCI - e, it can be moved from the old to the new Board of Directors.

  • Best computer upgrade and save options

Couple of questions different but first background with what I use our computer to my work. We produce 2 large catalogs a year, deal with TONS of images to create our range of products with our own unique designs created in-house. Large files with a lot of storage and a screen with true colors is therefore paramount.

    1. we are looking to upgrade a desktop computers (old iMac that I can't even find the year on it). I recently had to completely erase and reset up to an iMac (27 "mid-2011, intel core i7 to 3.4 GHZ;) Memory: 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3) we could substitute, but it has been unreliable in the past (where the reason I wiped it). Praying is good to go now, but I don't feel too comfortable with it and so I am researching options for the purchase of a new. Any suggestions?

    2. the other computer in our office is a Mac Pro (mid-2012; Processor: 2 x 3.06 GHz 6 - Core Intel Xeon; Memory: 48 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 ECC; Storage: 427.04 free G to Go 999,35 more a free WD4TB of 3.49 tuberculosis and a 4 TB 2,81 free TB MyBook). I am looking for a reliable backup option. We have a great Pro LaCie 5big (I can't seem to get any other information that it) I try to keep everything backed up on all the computer and I use the WD4TB and the MyBook actually keep all our files and knit out of them. Did some research earlier, I read that drives external hard only last 1-3 years and still less with constant use on them. We produce a large catalog, so I thought that in order to save wear and tear on my MacPro and keep it clear so I could easily work in several large files, it would be smart to run all my files off my external drive of my book, but now I'm not so sure since I read that could degrade the lives of the MyBook.

    Thoughts? Suggestions?

    Thank you!!

For backup, I prefer pregnant OWC (www.macsales.com) because they seem to live forever. However HD is HD fail eventually. I have gone through other types of housing including LaCie, Seagate, and WD and have had prolonged with OWC products then success than others always failed.

Your business may be a good candidate for the ThunderBay 4 OWC solution that has the ability to manage up to 24 TB of data.

  • 32 GB of Ram, computer upgrade only makes a buzzing sound

I bought a W541 with 4 GB of ram and 1 750gig HD with the intention to move the ram to 32 GB and 2 hds in raid installation myself.

After that I got the computer I discovered that if I don't order it with RAID would not support it, so I ordered another one of the same computer with RAID to replace. While I was waiting for the replacement I installed ram into the computer and it worked fine.

Now, I have the new computer, the only difference is that it has the RAID chip and that works fine, but when I installed the RAM that the computer would do when you activated it was make a high pitch buzzing. I thought that maybe he had a static shock while I put me in service so I sent for another 32 GB kit.

Today, the new kit has come and it's the same thing, does everything the computer is to make a high-pitched hum.

    Any ideas?

TL; DR: W541 with raid not even post with upgrade ram 32.

I bought the G.Skill Ripjaws F3-1600C9Q-32GRSL 1.35v, but that shouldn't matter that it worked on the first computer.

  • The computer upgrade laptop RAM

Hi, I've had my HP Pavilion m6 1006tx for about 11 months now and I had success in the basic forms of games (minecraft and other training games not so much). Now, my computer has an Intel core i7-3612QM multi-core cpu clocked @ 2.1 ghz with intel boost 3.1 as well as 2 GB RAM graphics card dedicated AMD 7670. But I'm here to talk about upgrading my RAM, I noticed that 4 GB of RAM does not allow me to run a lot and all-in-all barely able to run a game requiring a minimum 2 GB of RAM, so I would like to know if I would cancel my warranty if I upgraded my RAM.

I also want to know if the RAM as the dicksmith (http://www.dicksmith.com.au/computer-accessories/dse-8gb-ddr3-1600mhz-nbook-ram-dsau-xm5717) would work with my laptop current RAM which comes with the laptop, as in can I use RAM of two different brands, first and second, can I used two different amounts of RAM at any given time?

Thanks for the reply if you do. Also if you need all the most characteristic, or do not understand anythings please indicate so and I will clarify with you details

My apologies, just need to really read it, I just read the forums main post with the upgrade and other things, I tried to look before and it has not loaded so I posted this but it's working now, sorry guys

  • Windows Vista SP1 laptop computer upgraded to Windows 8.1 / 10 Windows

    Hello!

A long time ago (7 years probably) supplied with Windows Vista Home Basic x 86, we bought a laptop Toshiba Portege M800. I plan to upgrade to Windows 8/8.1/10, but I don't know if it will work. Here are my specs.

    Hello

We cannot tell you that you can definitely improve 8.1 or 10.

We provide only the information on the system requirements. Then, it is yours for a search.

And they're both done with a clean installation (no upgrade path) and they are not free.

Do the following before upgrade you to Windows 8.1.

Check if the manufacturer of your computer/laptop has Windows 8 drivers available for your model.

If this is not available, Windows 8/8.1 not install and work properly for you.

There is a lot of information in this first link from Microsoft:

Download and run the Windows Upgrade Assistant 8.1 of to see if your machine is compatible Windows 8.1 and read the update for Windows 8.1: FAQ here

I am running Windows 7 and do NOT want to upgrade to Windows 10.   I get these notices and must have clicked on something to upgrade.  Now, the only options I get are to update now, or reschedule for another time.  If the computer is off, it will start the upgrade as soon as it turns on.  There is no possibility of do not upgrade.

What can I do to cancel?

  • Can I transfer this to an another computer/upgrade to the retail version?

I have a Windows 7 Home Premium, but it's a version 7600, which means just a subscription business. It was originally XP but then improved to 7, so I don't have an installation disc. I was wondering if I could transfer to another computer by using the product key, or if I somehow get a retail version.

    Hi Sam,

You have the product key for Windows 7 upgrade?

Because you bought a Windows 7 Upgrade only, you will be able to use it only as a copy upgrade on another computer that has an earlier version of windows like XP or Vista. Therefore, you must first delete the copy of Windows 7 from the current computer, and then install a XP or Vista on the new computer so that you can upgrade to Windows 7 using the upgrade successfully product key.

You can get the version Full XP/Vista disk and the disk Windows 7 upgrade version of any of your friends or relatives for the installation process.

I suggest you to see the following link on the common ways to install Windows 7.

Installation and reinstallation of Windows 7 (common ways to install Windows 7)

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows7/installing-and-reinstalling-Windows-7

Note: Before you install Windows 7 on different computers, you must uninstall Windows 7 from the existing computer. See the last section of the link above for activation problems.

    I hope this helps!
