Computer * Vista * will not recognize Sansa Clip

I checked the USB port and it is fine, but when I plug it in it does not appear on my computer.  "I tried on my computer laptop son * Windows XP ' and it shows up there.  Can someone help with the Sansa Clip and Vista?  Thanks in advance!

Have you tried switching USB mode of the Meteorological Service of Canada, or forcing MSC mode Clip (hold the Center button down when you connect USB cable between computer and Clip)?

  • Computer Vista will not print to Deskjet 930c on home network

Our three computers (Vista is A, B, and C are XP) are connected to a wired network of private home.  Computer A has a Canon printer that is shared and all 3 computers can print to that very well.  Recently, we re-gasket a printer HP DeskJet 930C to computer B (via USB) and shared.  Computers, B and C can be printed on the HP very well.

But, even if A computer can see the printer, it will not print.  He seems to accept the print command and sometimes a dialog box flashes on and so quickly as it cannot be read, but nothing prints.

I worked through the Microsoft article "File and sharing printers in Windows Vista" at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb727037.aspx#mainSection and you don't see anything that solves the problem.  I ran the doctor of printing & scanning HP and who wrote the 930C is installed but not connected.  According to the website of HP, Vista has the correct driver.  I have uninstalled and installed the printer from computer A, but it still does not work.

So I called HP Support, and they said that I had done all the right things, and "it must be a registry problem.  This seems unlikely to me, and I don't know where to look in the registry.

    Any ideas or solutions?

    Hello

Windows XP sharing can be done automatically in XP or operating systems, XP does not host the drivers for the newer Vista operating systems and so you will have problems with some models.

To manually add the shared printer, follow these steps:

    1. install the printer locally in following second method: connecting the cable in parallel below:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01655752

    2. go into your PC host (computer B), right click my computer and select Properties.

Find the name of computer on this screen.

    3. go in Control Panel > printers and faxes.

Right-click on the printer and select Properties.

Open the tab end hand note the share name

Note: I would say keeping the name of sharing as simple as possible (e.g., 930C)

    4. go to your Vista machine and open Control Panel > printers.

Click with the right button on the 930c configured in step 1 and select Properties.

    Open the Ports tab.

    Click Add a new port.

In this list, select Local Port.

Set the local port in the form of \\Computer B Name\Printer share name (for example \\PC-P\930c).

Confirm the changes and check any change.

If you have still any question, I would say that the printer is connected to the Vista machine, then share it with the XP PC and check for any changes that should run more easily from my experience.

  • Vista will not recognize the projector connected for multiple display

I'm under a system dual boot with Windows XP and Vista.  When running under XP, I doesn't hurt to connect a projector to my laptop and extend the desktop on the projector for meetings and others.

When I am running Vista, it does not even recognize that the projector is connected.  However, once I have connected the projector, if I reboot the system, it will then display on the projector.  If I disconnect the projector, the screen does not reappear on the screen of the laptop, I have to restart, with the projector removed for office reappear on the screen of the laptop.  I'm hoping to get multiple monitors to work with Vista, as it does in my XP boot.

For the purpose of the next presentation running in XP is not an option.

    Hi cptrigeek

Try these steps and check if that helps:

Method 1: We can try to perform a power cycle of the projector.

Remove the cable from the power of the projector and this continues for 5-10 minutes. Also do the same for the laptop, Dungeon, it off. Then put back in place and start the projector. Now, start the laptop as well. Connect now. Now, you will need to install the driver for it (if there is one). After which, you need to configure the settings of the laptop.

Method 2: Check the following steps:

    1. connect the projector to your Windows PC. NOTE: the following steps apply if you use your PC in MIRROR mode only.

    2. on the screen of the computer, right CLICK on the desktop and select Properties.

    3. click on the SETTINGS tab. If you want that your displays in mirror (what you see on laptop, it's what the public sees) you must make sure that the box "extend my desktop to this monitor" is DISABLED. If you see a box of "mirroring", remember to check it out.

    4. drag the slider to 1024 x 768 screen. As a general rule, the external monitor may limit this parameter. If your screen is higher, it might not display on the projector, then you want to test this until you're ready to take the floor. Drag the color to highest (32 bit) if available or medium (16 bit) quality if the first is not available.

    5. now select FN and press the function key. This key is usually given by a small screen icon, the CRT/LCDtext and is usually found on F8 or F5 even. Press the appropriate operation button ONCE and wait. After a few seconds, the second screen should light up. Be patient, it may take up to 5 seconds. On the projector, it may take up to 10 seconds for the projector to detect your system and switch. Note: a second press of this function (in general) will switch to monitor EXTERNAL only. A third press stop INTERNAL onlyand the circle for each push after that. Also note that some laptops can do this sequence in a different order, so learn your system so that you can quickly to the desired mode.

    6. click on the ADVANCED button. If 'apply the new settings to display without restarting' is not selected, select it. Under screen refresh rate, select 60 Hz. click APPLY and CONFIRM the choice. Click OK to close the ADVANCED options dialog. Close the display properties dialog box. You should now see a mirroring of your monitor on the second monitor.

    7. test: A test, disconnect the second monitor. put your mobile PC to sleep. He wakes up and let it fully come (login if necessary), and then reconnect the external monitor. On some machines, he needs to quickly display the screen in the last known state (you may need to wait up to 10 seconds). If it is not correctly displayed, press the switch function, ONCE. Yet once, note that it can take up to 10 seconds to view, so be patient. If only the projector display now, some pressure on the function switch key should provide for both screens again. If you can't get the projector to display, check all your connections and settings above.

8 Note that when you use the projector, after pressing the function for changing the monitor button, it may take up to 10 seconds for the monitor find and block on your machine. Just wait. Pressing on the keys new fkey can simply ruin your settings or turn off the projector.

    9. not all laptops work the same way. Please make sure you learn how your work before you get to your presentation.

    (Not mirrored)

    1. If you do NOT want mirrored poster (display of different internal and external), CHECK the box next to the line that reads "extend my Windows desktop to this monitor." This SHOULD result in the external monitor display an image which is an EXTENSION of the current desktop.

    2. in the settings dialog box, the internal monitor appears as a '1' and externally as a '2 '. Click ONCE on the '2 '.

    3. with '2' selected, drag the Screen Resolution slider to the left or to the right until the resolution reads "1024 x 768". Also affect the quality of the highest (32-bit color) if available or average (16 bit) if the first is not available.

    4. click on the ADVANCED button. If 'apply the new display settings without restarting' is not selected, select it.

    5. Select the MONITOR tab. Under screen refresh rate, select 60 Hz. click APPLY and CONFIRM the choice. Click OK to close the ADVANCED dialog box. Your system is now set for an extended desktop. When it is connected to the screen, you may need to use the function switch key to turn once more on this option, but on systems that I tested, the extended desktop comes just when the monitor is connected. Yet once, I suggested some tests with this mode of knowing how your laptop will perform when connected to an external monitor before coming to speak.

    6. notes that, in this mode, items moved to the extended desktop can be "lost" it if the external monitor is disconnected because they live on the extended desktop is no longer available. Also note that if the extended desktop is turned on, this part of funds 'second' can continue to live, which means that the cursor and the object can be moved off the screen in this sector and not be visible on a single internal monitor. To resolve this problem, do a right-click on the desktop, select Properties, select settings, click on the '2' box and UNCHECK the extend option. Items left on the extended desktop should now align the right edge of the internal display.

    Original title: corrupted vista OS?

My Dell studio slim desktop (Vista OS) that I have since Mar09 died on me 2 weeks back and I can't it start and it will keep rebooting until it resembles the wide long beep (as if a deceased person)

Whenever my com has restarted, it shows the following:

    Safe mode

    Safe mode with networking

    Safe mode with command prompt

    Last known good configuration (Advanced)

    Start Windows normally

All options will be led to the recovery of my com & return the same screen.

It will always get stuck at the loading bar where the com starts boot & restarts itself.

I tried to attach the hard drive to a different com as external hard drive, but it will begin to restart that com & hang the CMO as well

I tried using the disc to reinstall OS from DELL and it will show a msg of error (blue screen) with the following text:

Disable or uninstall the antivirus, Defrag disk or backup utilities. Check the configuration of the hard disk & check for any updated drivers.

Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.

    Hi Bill,

I forgot to include some info as well... I replaced the 'touched' hardisk (Barracuda 500 GB) to an unused a (Barracuda 160 GB) and the problems disappeared. Whenever I change back the 500 GB in the com, the sound signal occurs only backwards the system continues the reopening for abt... 10 + times?

So the questions are now fixed, unless you put the other disk hard?

    Test the other hard drive.

Go to the website of your computer manufacturer > find specifications of hardware in your computer (hard drive) > access the Web Hard Drive from the manufacturer site > download their diagnostic software > make a Bootable disc > test your hard drive.

And run the F12 as I advised you to do so.

    It is DELL's Diagnostics software.

    Good luck with it.

    ·         When was the last time it was working fine?

    ·         Have you made changes on the computer before this problem?

    ·         You receive an error message all in stop or restart the computer?

    Follow these methods.

Method 1: It could be due to a program or device driver interfering with Windows power settings. See the article and try the steps in the article.

  • Vista will not recognize or find applications

At the opening of the applications, I get error messages that the application cannot be found.  I can find them manually, but when I opened the they are not associated with a program.  I can't select box 'always open this file with this program.  I tried to run the system restore, but I don't know what kind of program to associate with.

You don't need to know what program to associate in order to run the system restore.

It soundls like the file association for. Files EXE is corrupt or missing or wrong.  Here is an article on how to fix: http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm (the entry corresponding to the choice. EXE files).

If this does not work, do a restore of the general system.  Do you know when this problem started?  Try a system restore to a point in time BEFORE the problem started.  Here is the procedure: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-system-restore/.  Don't forget to check the box to show more than 5 days of restore points.  If the first attempt fails, then try an earlier point or two.  NOTE: You will need to re - install any software and updates that you have installed between now and the restore point, but you can use Windows Update for updates.

  • Computer Vista will not complete start up once the updates have been installed

Office worked well on 20 January, until the update when you restart it should start going to black screen with cursor. I tried to fix it, but it does not work. I tried the system restore to an earlier date but gives the error. Does anyone have ideas, which is false.

    Thank you

    Lisa,
At this point if you have a way to back up your data, I suggest that do you so as soon as possible.  Start the XP that you have installed.  Then copy all your data from the original Windows folder to an external drive or a DVD.

Then, to try to make this repair, boot from the XP disc and select the recovery option.  This will start you in the recovery console prompt.  From there, you can then run the commands to replace the sam file.  Mike - Engineer Support Microsoft Answers

    b. click on Device Manager.

    c. now, expand the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drives, click with the right button on the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive and click on uninstall.

Thank you for these two answers, unfortunately the first did not work, and the second deals with USB.  The computer will not recognize any location chip memory, they do not appear on the Import Wizard, or MY computer.  The only two drives that appear are drive C and drive J, which is where I have a wireless mouse hooked up.   Just before this problem I had... and still not... a bottom of screen message "one of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned... Click this message for more information."  The only connected usb is the mouse, and it works fine.  Solutions that deal with USB issues aren't really questions I have, except that in the future (if the problem remains) USB ports do not appear on my computer either.  Someone who has some said knowledgge I need to re - map the hard drive, or something?
