  I am running Windows XP SP3 with RAM sticks of 256 MB (2) on an old eMachines T5026 desk top.  I added strips of RAM 1.0 GB (2) for the two slots open and computer would not start.  I tried with stick (1) 1 G and (2) 1 sticks and it still won't start.  I tried to mix and match the 256 with 1 G in each combimation, but it does not start.  Won't start with one or two sticks of 256.  Best Buy had PC3200 DDR RAM but the spec above States use PC2700.  Geek Squad says that PC3200 is OK instead of PC2700.  Is this the problem or I had to do something besides just insert new RAM?   Suggestions welcome.  Thank you.

  I had a problem for the last few weeks when I try to turn on 1 of my computers, initially, it would not just usually turn on and start.   Here are the steps I did the last time that I was able to get on this weeks trying to understand the problem: I have run the dell diagnostic test and it detected no problems. I also looked in the event viewer, but there's a lot of mistakes, so I don't know if it could cause a problem. Memory diagnostics have been run, and no problem found there. A comprehensive analysis was performed as well and it detected no viruses.

  Since then, I've replaced the power supply and now instead of light, flicking a second flashing repeatable, yet does not turn upward. Fan works again tho so it's good, I guess.  Power supply is compatible and right hook. Before purchase power supply also bought the new point of sale, so that obviously wasn't the problem etiher.

  Please help me I need this computer works again one I am on now is much older and slower.

  MacBkPro will be not not to go sleep ever (not with menu or keyboard commands or the cover.)  Energy saver prefs checked and they are always the same settings as before the update.

  Try a Hard Reset as follows.

  Shut down the laptop, unplug the AC adapter and then remove the battery.  Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds.  Reinsert the battery, connect the AC adapter and see if the laptop boots.

When closing the cover, only the battery LED continues to Flash orange (the way it should be), but apparently the laptop keeps consuming power, because when I restart later (first having to close as described above) tends to be quite an empty battery as it was before the next redΘmarrage it (like go from 100% to 65% in 30 minutes as "standby mode"). Also, when I open the cover, the other LEDS will on new (green), but nothing happens.
  After the restart first by pressing the power button for 10 seconds to close, I often get the message that Windows cannot be started and run the system repair.

  I just do a completely clean install with the product recovery CD (has not installed SP1 yet), updated to v1.90 BIOS, but the problem remains.

  To be honest the closed question is unclear for me I noticed a problem before on my laptop but the update of the BIOS helped.

  This is why I recommend update BIOS first.
  If the problem still appears, the ASP should take a look in the notebook.
