Computer won't start; 3 long beeps, the fan turns

Hello

I have a desktop HP equipped of Windows Vista that does not start correctly.  When I turn it on it looks like it is starting, I hear the fan, the computer will beep 3 times in a row (I would say long beeps) then stops and beeps 3 times in a row again.  Then nothing on the monitor, fan always running.  If I didn't get anything I think that the computer and the monitor's energy-saving.

Before I turn it on the screen says no signal so I think the screen itself works.  I don't quite see the HP splash screen.  Pressing F8 during startup seems to do nothing.

I created Vista backup discs (food?), but I don't think they are bootable.  Some back story: a few weeks ago, I tried to download Windows Live.  After installing the updates, I could never Live DL and the next day I got the blue screen of death.  I rebooted, you press F8 repeatedly and Windows started normally.  Although it worked fine for a few days I felt nervous that I did a restore of the system around October 31.  Everything seems to be ok for over a week but now I have this problem.  I thought to upgrade to Windows 7, but do not know what to do at this point.  I've never opened a tour - answers Google talk out of ram or certain types of error of keyboard Bios (3270 keyboard card).

Help, please!  Sorry to be so long.  :-)

Hello

These beeps mean hardware problems so check with a real computer (not the leeks and pics store
at a Best Buy or other department stores) or HP support.

Sound beeps are error codes that describe a problem with your machine.

Startup and select CONFIGURATION/SETTINGS (BIOS/CMOS) - usually F2 that you start - look to see BIOS

I have Windows 7, my computer does not start. I did the Startup Repair and he won't fix it. I did the system configuration information. and that did not help. What to do now? The comment of Bios makes me fear that it could damage my computer forever. What should do? Help, please

    Hi Alan,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

    I understand that the computer does not restart even after running Startup Repair and I will be happy to answer your query. I appreciate the efforts made to try to make it work. Let me ask you;

    • How do you run the Startup Repair?
    • Do you have Windows 7 repair disc?
    • Remember to no particular change in the computer before the show?
    • Have you plugged an external equipment, except the keyboard and mouse?
    • You are able to start the computer in safe mode?
    • What is the brand and model of the computer?

Note: BIOS change / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

There could be several reasons why he's not leaving including hardware as well. In addition, it could be because the master boot record (MBR) has been damaged. When you try to use the Startup Repair tool to repair the MBR, the Startup Repair tool indicates that no problem was found or it does not work yet.

If you have any connected USB flash drive or other external devices connected to the computer, if you please, remove them and try to run the Startup Repair tool.

If you haven't tried using Windows 7 repair disc, you can try the following:

    1. Insert the Windows 7 disc
    2. restart your computer
    3. When asked if you want to boot from your DVD player, do it.
    4. Select your language, click Next.
    5. click on repair your computer
    6. Select the operating system you want to repair.

You can also perform the system restore by selecting the restore point when you think it worked very well. System Restore, choose advanced options using the disc.

Important: When you use system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, the programs and updates that you have installed after this date are deleted.

I also recommend to contact the computer manufacturer to get the done diagnostic equipment.

Hope this information is useful. Please feel free to answer in the case where you are facing in the future other problems with Windows.

  • If my printer USB cable is connected, my computer won't start?

If the printer is on and the USB port connected.  The computer won't start.  If I turn on the laptop with the USB plugged in and as it starts and then turn on the printer, everything works fine.  Almost ok.  I think I should be able to leave the printer on all the time as I do at work.  Then when I start the computer, the printer is ready.  Every other printer I've ever had worked this way.  Any suggestions?

Maybe the printer looks like a hard drive (some printers have card readers that make them look like a disk) and the computer attempts to boot from the USB drive instead of the hard drive?  It would be a modification of the settings in the BIOS

6 Lightroom unbootable after an update... I reinstalled the software, but it still won't start? Updated through the creative cloud but still does not start?  What should do?

My computer is a PC with Windows 10.
Everything worked well before the Update Adobe Lightroom 6.
The software was purchased in a shop (FNAC) with software to download map, it is saved in my account (Adobe) with its serial number. Why is this so difficult thing to reinstall Adobe software?

    I apologize for the inconvenience.

Since it appears and disappears from the Task Manager, it seems that Lightroom crashes.

We have seen this kind of problem on Windows 10 when Visual C++ Reditsributable 2012 update 4 is not installed correctly, it is necessary to run certain programs. You might have encountered until now Adobe programs that require it.

Otherwise, there could be another cause of this accident and if C++ installation does not help, then you need to share the event viewer crash logs. See this article for in crash logs: Photoshop Elements Editor Help. How to find the crash logs on to Windows

  • How can I fix computer that does not start after the fan turns phase?

I have a Compaq Presario SR5510F PC, Windows Vista Home Premium, AMD Athlon x 2. Lately, my computer is even worse at the start. When my computer starts, the fan should run for a few seconds, then it should stop and lead at the start with Compaq logo screen. But lately, the startup was completely terrible for my computer. Today, most of the time when I press the button in the box of the computer, the fan turns on and it continues to turn, and nothing comes on the screen. It isn't that rarely when the fan stops running, but then the monitor displays always upwards in white and VERY rarely when the startup screen appears, then it freezes on this screen. At this rate, my computer is totally useless when it does nothing but run his fan. This means that I can not go to boot options at all and go to the "last good configuration". What can I do to fix the computer when I can't have anything with her while she is empty?

It sounds like a hardware problem, not a software problem.  If the computer rarely gets past the BIOS (material audit) stage of the startup sequence, then Windows is is not yet involved in the boot process again.  Request assistance from someone trained in the skills of troubleshooting hardware since this can become very expensive very quickly.

    Hi all

My screen had been flickering for some time now, especially since I moved the lid. I assumed it was a bad connection somewhere so I took the case out to see if I could solve the problem. Of course, now the problem is worse--why else would I post here!

With the housing to open, I plugged the keyboard back in and power the computer on. As the title suggests, flashes the light reading on the top of the cover, the fan turns on, then HD lights. But after 3-5 seconds, the fan turns off. The HD is still on, and I suppose that the processor still works because the radiator heats up. The green light on the keyboard is still on. Nothing appears on the screen. Even with an external monitor is connected, it does not work.

I now go back the case and your suggestions! Thanks in advance!

    @Orangenation,

You have all the connections placed back together? Check if you "cut out" any of the wires?

Try to go through the HMM for the T410 and see if you might miss all the connectors.

  • Computer won't start and the screen is weird looking

After the maid left today, I noticed my computer screen on my DELL PC running Windows XP HOME Edition (service pack 2 or 3 - I don't know) seemed strange. The pixels have been weird in several areas of the screen and the cursor froze.  I tried to turn off the computer, but it will turn off, then I disconnected and finally had to hold the power switch on the CPU for a few seconds to turn it off.  When I tried to turn it back on again, it showed Windows startup to the top of page - but the screen still seemed weird - kind of out of touch.  The computer does not start.  It's just a black screen with a cursor in the middle of the screen is frozen and the mouse does not move.  I tried to push the F-8 when starting Windows screen came. He took me to a different boot options menu, but always with the print-screen out of phase. I tried a few startup options, but it just brought me back to the Windows boot screen with the logo being shifted - sort of split and strange looking.  Is it possible that my maid has done something to the computer, wiping down? Is it possible to fix this? It's never happened before. Can someone PLEASE?  Thank you

    Hi Goldie309,

My computer frequently not turn on, I have to take to HQ and main and ultrabay batteries, sit around for a while and try again and again. It never fails to start the computer in the end, but I'm also afraid someday that simply, it won't start. Currently, I decided to not turn off my computer, I just pause and restart from time to time. Stability wise it is solid, but I would like to address this issue before the end of my warranty and I don't want to be without my computer for a long time. This has been a recurring problem for much of this year.

I don't have a working windows partition, I run ubuntu, so I wouldn't have enough to mess with resettlement of the bios unless it can really solve my problem. Information about the current bios

    1.29 BIOS version (1YET65WW) 21/08/2006

The typical sequence looks like this.

Computer is turned off and unplugged after a normal shutdown.

I plug in the power adapter to the computer, and after a few seconds the Green battery light.

I press the power button, the computer does not put away and the light / energy from the battery stop.

The light on the battery even when I release the power button remains off.

Next step is to remove the AC and my two batteries, wait awhile, plug it back and and cross my fingers. If does not turn on, go to step 1 and repeat.

I sent it to lenovo and they replaced the motherboard, and which until now has seemed to solve the problem.  even got a new keyboard out of it, even if the keyboard is a little more clicky then old.

called Sunday, got a box Monday, droped out of the box of DHL Tuesday, got my computer back on Friday.  pretty good, considering that he was sent to tennessee.
