Computer won't start windows after SP2 updated which runs without error messages.
Hello
I have problem with SP2 update. After correct installation the computer not boot to windows and the screen is black.
I have toshiba A55 S326 all of origin, on which I replaced HD (now 250 GB) and RAM (1 GB now). In past I have updated the bios to version 1.40 delivered by the producer.
As I have new HD, I used the factory restore CD for Windows XP Home Edition. I have run all the updates that the system has been to download. Each think worked until I don't have install SP2. After correct instalation without error notice system invited to restart, I have confirmed, but the computer has not started load windows again.
I tried several times, checked for possible errors, I used Critical Update 885626 before SP2 installin sugested, but all the time, same result. Black screen without loading Windows.
You pls can someone advise for me what I have to do.
As I have only the factory recovery disc, I'm not able to run the recovery console, because recovery is formatting disc before editing Windows.
Can you pls suggest me how to get the WIndows XP or Windows XP Home Edition CD bootable recovery console.
Thank you.

I have a number of questions at the moment and wonder if they are related between them and how to fix each one.
1. I have sometimes received error: 0xC004D401 "an unauthorized change was made to windows" that force restart the laptop, then the same error comes up and force reboots and this loop until I force shutdown.2. I constantly get the message "host process for Services Windows has stopped working and was closed... ».3 - My Device Manager displays many symbols yellow exclamation point of 'error' of the brand that are appearing next to "Network adapters", Microsoft 6to4 adapt #13; Map Microsoft 6to4 #14; Map Microsoft 6to4 #3; Map Microsoft ISATAP #13; Microsoft ISATAP # 17 and card Microsoft ISATAP #18. I tried to "Update" of these device managers and looking for changes, but he keeps saying that everything is up to date...It's really frustrating because it affects my internet connection (wireless usb modem) and also the proper functioning of my laptop. At this point I could not even access my photo albums and document records they were no where!. My laptop is an Hp and everything just 2 years now and runs on Windows Vista. This type of error is often related to incompatible software. If this happened recently, you could try a system restore to an earlier time. Vista is up-to-date service pack?
System Restore:
Start > type 'restore' > search for system restore and choose a date. You can also check the programmes concerned.

My PC won't start Windows after I used it to work from home
New software has been installed on my HP Pavilion G6 to allow me to work at home home. Now I stopped the work and my PC cannot start when starting. She's just a black screen and I can't get to Windows. How can I go back to Windows? How do I get this software and Boot up to the Windows STARTUP?
Hey RobVanEna,
You can try to perform a Microsoft System Restore. A Microsoft System Restore will only put you back to an earlier date and it won't affect your files (except files/files saved directly on the desktop). Please note that this is different from a recovery. A recovery will be programmed the laptop back to factory conditions, and you will lose all data on the hard drive that is not backed up externally.
Check out these instructions on how to perform a system restore. There is a lot of information at the top that you'll want to read later. In the blue link at the top of the document list, click "using System Restore when Windows 7 will not start normally.
If the system restore fails for some reason any, let me know. It is advisable to try a few different dates so does not work.
Please let me know if you have any questions or if this suggestion helped (May) help others with a similar problem. I'll keep an eye out for your answer.

Urgent! Illustrator won't start even after Java Update
I just upgraded to Yosemite, I have a deadline today and now I can't open illustrator CS6. (CD version, not creative Cloud). The popup told me to install the runtime java SE 6. I did it. I also tried all the advice I could find on various forums, such as the opening of Java in system preferences and try to start HERE, while the Java window is still open. Nothing has worked. Help, please!
Hi Annabel,
Download the file and install. It installs the update to Java SE 6 11
Try running and it should work.

computer does not work properly after the update, because the screen is black.
Advice please! :-(
After an update there about 2 months, my computer has never worked properly after that I turned it back. My windows start page is longer there. My screen is black. The words are only in white and fluorescent yellow...
The only way I can go online to find Norton (is always at the bottom of the black screen) and go to help. I can get a search bar like that. Almost as if this black screen hides everything below. Computer is 13 months old.
My internet provider says it isn't them. Gateway said it's not my computer so idk what happened after this update.
Any advice would be so appreciated.
Thank you.
Hi Patty,.
Welcome to the Microsoft community. I would be grateful if you can answer these questions.
- You have installed the latest drivers for Windows 8?
- What is the model number for Gateway computer?
If you get a black screen after upgrade to Windows 8, it might be due to an outdated or incompatible graphics card driver. Update to the latest version of the display driver should fix this.
Try to remove all external devices connected to the computer and then try to start the computer and check if it works. Follow these methods and check if that helps:
Method 1: To resolve this problem, update the Gateway website. video card driver
Step 1: Check out these Microsoft items for additional reference:
Download and install the drivers
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows-8/all-drivers
Step 2: If you are not able to find drivers for Windows 8 to HP support. Try to install the graphics drivers in compatibility mode and check:
Download your applications and devices in Windows 8.1
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows-8/get-apps-devices-working
If the problem persists, proceed to the next method.
Method 2: I suggest to follow the suggestions provided in this Microsoft KB article and check if this can help:
Windows 8 starts with a blank screen after a standard or hibernation
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/2756559/en-us
See also the suggestion provided by Scott (owner of Forum) from this thread and check if this may help.
I hope this helps. If you need help with Windows, let us know and will be happy to help you.

If my printer USB cable is connected, my computer won't start?
If the printer is on and the USB port connected. The computer won't start. If I turn on the laptop with the USB plugged in and as it starts and then turn on the printer, everything works fine. Almost ok. I think I should be able to leave the printer on all the time as I do at work. Then when I start the computer, the printer is ready. Every other printer I've ever had worked this way. Any suggestions?
Maybe the printer looks like a hard drive (some printers have card readers that make them look like a disk) and the computer attempts to boot from the USB drive instead of the hard drive? It would be a modification of the settings in the BIOS

my windows vista computer is to download a lot of updates which will create the lack of disk space in my hard C drive? Please help...
You already have disk cleanup?
Please use this tutorial:
http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/76073-disk-cleanup.htmlThe Atlantic tutorial has 2 parts:
Step 1 to 11 is for the classic disk cleanup which will give you back some disc FEPs.
Step 12 until the end (more), is to delete all except the most recent restore points. This will give bring you a ton of disk space.
ATTENTION: Make sure that your computer works OK because you delete restore points.
You have no past point to fall up to restore more new restore points are created. -
Hello
I connected two computers, one running on windows xp sp2 and others running on windows xp sp3 via com using RS232 port via link Modem DFM-562E ++.
I am able to dial numbers from a PC successfully.
But when I do a direct link between them (one as a host, the other guest) through the com port, I get error 777.
Is this because the two PC's using different service packs?
Help, please.
Thank you & best regards
RaviIt is not the service pack - although you should have installed sp3 now.
Your message is not clear: have you been able to connect successfully computers using your modem D-Link? How did you do that? Will there be a modem in the second computer?
What cable are you using to establish a direct connection between the com ports on both computers? If you have purchased this cable online, please provide a link to the site where you bought it.
Please describe the physical connection between the two computers. For example, this is how you connect to the Internet by dial-up services:
computer 1-{(9 broches) RS-232 serial port}-{RS-232 cable supplied with the modem}-{modem}-{phone cord (RJ-11 modular plugs at each end)}-{telephone wall jack}
