Computers cannot start from my Dreamspark Windows 7 disc.

I have acquired an iso to install Windows 7 from Dreamspark program Dreamspark Premium.  However, it looks like a bad iso because when I burn it to a DVD, computers do not start.  I put the DVD as the first device during the boot and boot, and I also used the Boot Manager to select the DVD drive to start.  It seems that the computer tries to boot from DVD, but then goes to the start screen for the operating system already on the computer.

I also tried to burn the ISO on USB, but it stops at 99% with an error.  It seems I'm the only person who got this wrong file ISO of Dreamspark.  Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

In fact, they say which edition it is.  It just says: Windows 7 on their site.  I'm emailing Dreamspark, ask questions about editing and my product key.  I will update this thread when I have an answer.  Thanks again André for all the help.

  • Satellite M40-244 - cannot start from CD after driver change

    Hi all

    I have a Satellite M40-244 and the original DVD drive is faulty. So I changed the drive with one that is exactly the same (same brand, same date of manufacture).

    Under Windows, the new disk is recognized and works perfectly. However, when I try to boot from the CD, I am not able to do. I successfully changed the boot sequence in the bios, I tried all possible combinations without success.

    One thing I remember is that when I tried to boot from the faulty driver, I got the message 'Not bootable CD' (the tested CD is bootable and tested on other computers)

    Any idea anyone, I desperately need to install a new OS. :-(

    Hello

    I doubt that you can boot from CD t if your drive works properly in Windows...
    You can try another disc of starting, for example the Toshiba recovery disc or the disc from Microsoft, please?

    Alternative try to load the default settings in the BIOS.

    Good luck! :)

  • Cannot start from 2nd default player

    My problem: can not start from second default drive

    I have a HP Pavilion dv7 1451NR, product NV204UA #ABA number.

    I have two drives installed.

    I have Windows 7 64 bit is installed on disk 0 and Ubuntu 32-bit installed on disk 1.

    I can boot both operating systems successfully by following these steps:

    1. Turning the power on

    2. Press the ESC key for BIOS

    3. Press F9-go to the start menu

    4. Menu of startup watch two disks named "internal hard drive.

    5. If I select the first entry named "Internal hard drive" I start to Windows 7.

    6. If I choose the 2nd entry named "Internal hard drive" I boot to Ubuntu.

    I turn on if I do NOT press escape, the machine boots to Windows after the timeout.

    My problem: I want to start on default Ubuntu.

    I checked the HP bios and I do not think there is a way to do it by changing the boot priority in the BIOS. The BIOS does not seem to tell the difference between the two drives. I have only has an entry for "internal hard drive.

    In my view, is an approach that should work:

    1. Use bcdedit or easybcd to create a BCD record that points to GRUB.

    2. Create a configuration file GRUB that 'the chain' charges Ubuntu.

    3. Use bcdedit to put the GRUB entry as the default value.

    I tried various permutations but cannot make it work.

    Question: Should my idea work?

    Detailed question: How to find out where the original boot image is for GRUB? I know I need the copy of sector 0 of the drive and the partition Ubuntu and GRUB on. Since Ubuntu I tried permutations of ' dd if of=/NST/grubsdXX.bin = / dev/sdxx bs = 512 count = 1 "to generate the boot image. Not worked.

    Detailed question: What exactly should the BCD record look like? What commands are used to create it. I tried various permutations of

    ' bcdedit / create /d "GRUB" / application of the BOOT sector.

    bcdedit/set {60e1c218-a9b3-11e0-89b8-00235abb6d44} device partition = C:

    bcdedit/set {60e1c218-a9b3-11e0-89b8-00235abb6d44} path \nst\grubsdXX.bin

    bcdedit displayorder {60e1c218-a9b3-11e0-89b8-00235abb6d44} /addlast»

    I think I'm close, but can't make it work. My guess is I do not get the image of the right sector 0 in grubsdXX.bin or I am not the "partition" or the path correctly, or maybe I need to install GRUB on disk 0.

    Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Refinement: I discovered how to avoid having to change the menu item, whenever you update the Ubuntu kernel. When it is updated Ubuntu creates a link in the root of the root partition that points to the latest kernel and one that points the last initrd. So if you replace the reference to a specific core (example: boot/vmlinuz-3.2.0-48-gereic-pae) and initrd (example: boot/initrd.img-3.2.0-48-generic-pae) with "/ vmlinuz" and "/ initrd.img. Your menu will always be able to start the last installed Ubuntu.

  • URGENT! Cannot start from the HP recovery discs.

    I am facing a problem weired with the help of HP recovery disks (ordered from HP).
    HP drives are bootable, I checked on another desktop not HP. My Pavilion cannot boot from HP discs, but it starts on the other Windows 7 bootable disk. Even this drive gives me the error to the expansion of the files windows to 52%. It says failed to load the driver for the drive and asks me to select the drivers, so I inserted the disc Driver from HP, but it says nothing found.

    I tried to use HP discs after, whole HARD drive then create 100 MB system reserved partition (NTFS), 100 GB NTFS for the C drive for installation of Win; but still no luck. After selecting CD/DVD in the start menu, the continuous cursor to blink on the left corner for a few 10s of seconds and the system reboots without any messages.

    When I tried with Linux Mint 14 KDE startup disk, it installed smoothly without any mistakes and right now, I'm using Linux.

    So this is a strange problem where I can't decide what thing is defective; If my reader DVD, DVD or my Pavilion. But all work to differnet scenarios. Please suggest a solution if you know.

    Help, please!

    Thank you!

    I had problems with my laptop for a few weeks, I used Chkdsk to fix the problem she was having. Yesterday the comp froze while I was using firefox and when I reset windows not load and cannot repair themselves. My OS was installed at the factory, and I have the product key, but Windows no disk. Hello

    Here are the different ways to reinstall vista

    Contact the computer manufacturer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

    they do it for a nominal cost of $

    also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought

    you would normally press F10 or F11 or Alt + F10, 0 at startup to start the recovery process according to the manufacturer

    Ask them of the exact key sequence

    or borrow a microsoft dvd vista

    Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

    they contain all versions of vista

  • We get an error "this device cannot start" Code 10 on Windows 7.

    Original title: USB not recognized verified work storage device

    I have a 8 GB USB Flash drive that has, until recently, worked perfectly on several OSes including Windows 7 and 8. Recently, the player does not seem to want to work on one of my installations of Windows 7 on a PC (HP EliteBook 8470p).

    I tried to reinstall the drivers for it on my machine specific windows 7 that does not work on. Device Manager gives me "this device cannot start. (Code 10) "even after reinstalling the drivers and reboot several times. I use also some virtual machines in Windows 7 and 8 on the same PC, and when connecting virtually the USB key to the virtual machine to Windows 7, I can't detect it. When you connect the device to the virtual machine from Windows 8, I can access the files and even format, so the USB ports on my computer are all functional.

    To summarize, the device works in Windows 7 and 8 separate facilities of this computer, but does not work on 7 on my TI, if the main or virtualized operating system. The VM of Windows 8 on this computer can recognize the device.

    Thanks for the answer, except that I discovered the problem. I checked upward in the disk management window, and I saw that the reader, for some reason, was not assigned a letter. After you manually assign the drive letter, all data on the disc is now available. Thanks anyway.

  • Cannot start from the CD in my Satellite P300-23F

    Hello

    I'm trying to fix the old laptop from my brother. It's a Toshiba satellite p300-23f. The laptop did not work well, so he bought another. I think he might have a problem with the HARD drive, but I'm not sure about this and want to try to format the HARD drive and reinstall the operating system.

    When I start from the disc HARD I have no problem, insiders of OS normally, and I can 'use' laptop. The problem is when I try to boot from the OS CD. I get this message "Media test failure, check cable". I know the CD works, because recently I have instaled the operating system with this CD on another computer. I know that the CD player (not sure if it is called like this, but I think you understand what I mean) also works very well, because I tried different CD and it worked.

    I've tried pressing F12 and boot from CD it and also tried to change the BIOS and put the CD in the first place, but it does not work.

    No idea what's going on? Is it possible to make it work?

    Stand by.
    When Windows is completely loaded, you can use the optical disk drive and it reads all CDs and DVDs?
    When you put your Windows Windows installation disc can see the contents of the disc in Windows Explorer?

    Maybe you can use the CD but not DVD. check it out please.

  • Cannot start from the CD HP Pavilion 15-n003sq

    Hello, I'm trying about three days why my laptop do not show me the CD option in the Boot Menu (F9).

    I need to reinstal my windows (8) and I don't really have the time to find a USB key (I don't have in any case..), so I have to do for the CD to start windows.

    I don't really understand why it doesn't, after all, it worked the first time when I instaled windows 8.

    I'm looking online for the solution, but I can not find the USB solution. This isn't a solution for me I need to install CD... What happens if I put in shape all-> them my disk partition (up to drive local C will remove a part of windows and it will colapse...) then will probably be to boot from the CD?

    Secure boot it is disabled in the BIOS (in any case, he let me to him allow for). Legacy Boot, I tried with her, turn on and off, I have not seen a chage.

    Thank you

  • Satellite 1130-z28: cannot start from portable player

    My Teac dw 224th Player Toshiba Satellite 1130-z28 does not work. I have the problem I tried to replace it with 3 different types of cd rom drive and none worked.

    The led light, but I can't boot from them and windows doesn'n even recognize them. Is it possible my laptop works with the same kind of player?

    The same drive is always better, because on this way, you will be sure that it will work properly 100%. In my opinion you have some compatibility issue because each car can not be used with any laptop. Unfortunately there are no public list with compatible readers but this info you can get from Toshiba service partner in your country.

  • Cannot start the Recovery Console Windows from the installation CD

    On my MacBook I ve running in VMware Fusion 3.0.1 a Virtual Machine with Win XP Pro.

    When I reboot Win XP Pro and start again from the Windows XP Pro installation CD, I can see the "Welcome" with the menu screen

    -To install Win XP now, press ENTER

    -To repair an installation of Windows XP using the Recovery Console, press r.

    -To quit Setup without installing Windows XP, press F3.

    When I click ENTER or R, I see the message

    -The installation program did not find any hard drives installed in your computer. Setup cannot continue. To quit Setup, press F3.

    Today the question? In the 40 GB of the virtual machine, I have two free partitions of 10 GB and 20 GB Win XP Pro execution. Why see Setup cannot process this partition?

    I ve also installed a second Virtual Machine, but the installation of VMware Fusion not show the "Welcome" screen, but it installs both Win XP Pro.

    The installation of the recovery in the virtual race Machine Win XP Pro Console is successful, but when I start the recovery in Start Menu Console, just the screen blue 0x7B (inaccessible boot device).

    What must I do, to start the Recovery Console in VMware Fusion? Or another question: when merging does support the Windows Recovery Console?

    Wow, nothing indicates that you use a German version of Fusion that your English is excellent.  Anyway as VMware headquarters is in the United States, like me, I always provide information in English and information-specific guidelines in the VMware Fusion help files come from the English version as well as any Documentation from VMware that I reference.  I say this next part as a general and not directed comment towards you, as you have noted your using the German version... Any person requesting help must always at least include technical information referencing manufacture, make, model, version, and language other then English, material goods and software involved in issues.  We'll find a good reference for the type of information that must always be included in HOWTO: ask (and answer) Questions.

    As a much get into the BIOS if you use the Fusion 3, you don't need to enter the BIOS to change the boot device as this can be done in the settings now however to enter the BIOS for other things that need/want of press you F2 directly after starting the Virtual Machine and after having clicked on the screen but the av VM boot so fast that it's easily missed.  You can add the following settings to the file of configuration .vmx of the Virtual Machine to slow down the startup so that force once in the BIOS.

    bios.bootDelay = "3000"
    bios.forceSetupOnce = "TRUE"

    The bios.bootDelay is in milliseconds and the bios.forceSetupOnce Boolean value is then set to FALSE, automatically.  Each of these parameters are independent of each other.

    You can find the following useful notes for this and or other uses...

    ====================

    Notes: keyboard

    Different setting function, you may need to adjust various preferences keyboard to work with the function keys and or use the Fn key.

    OS X > you may need to press the Fn + F6 etc. and this can be changed in system preferences > keyboard & mouse > keyboard > use all F1, F2, etc...

    Merger 1 > VMware Fusion (menu) > Preferences... > keyboard and mouse > activate Mac OS shortcuts keyboard

    Fusion of the 2 and 3 > VMware Fusion (menu) > Preferences... > keyboard & mouse > Mac OS shortcuts > activate Mac OS keyboard shortcuts

    ====================

    Notes: Starting the virtual machine from CD/DVD or ISO Image

    If the Virtual Machine is not initiating the CD/DVD or ISO Image, and then select the CD-ROM in the Boot Menu.

    Engage the Boot Menu and select the CD-ROM drive...

    The bottom of the virtual machine just above the status bar after the Virtual Machine is started, it has...

    "Press F2 to enter SETUP, F12 for the start-up network, ESC for Boot Menu"

    On the status bar, it features...

    'To direct entry to this virtual machine, click inside the window.'

    BIOS flashing by is very fast so you need to work quickly however give it a try and if the Start Menu cannot be higher then the configuration of the Virtual Machine file .vmx must be edited to slow the STATION and or change the boot order.

    OK, click the big Play button on the screen of the virtual machine, and then quickly mouse click in the Virtual Machine screen and then press the ESC key to bring up the Start Menu and select the CD-ROM drive. If it boots the CD very well and if the Boot Menu does not appear, because he goes just to quick access and then try again or...

    Watch the Boot Delay section in the current user's Guide to VMware Fusion and the section of the virtual machine files of A Beginner's Guide to VMware Fusion on when the configuration of the Virtual Machine's .vmx file is and add the following lines to the file. TextEdit can be used to edit the .vmx file.

    To give more time to indulge, the Start Menu Add the following...

    bios.bootDelay = "3000".

    For, once, force the VM in the BIOS to change the Boot order in the BIOS if the CD-ROM is first add the following...

    bios.forceSetupOnce = 'TRUE '.

    ====================

    Notes: By modifying the .vmx file

    For Fusion 2.x and 3.x ctrl-click the target entry of Virtual Machine on the windows of the library of the Virtual Machine and choose Show in Finder and then Ctrl-click on the packaging of the Virtual Machine and select to display the contents of the package.

    By default in the normal Fusion 1.x virtual Fusion function file are created in the folder "~/Documents/Virtual Machines" and according to host operating system version and or Fusion worm. There may be a .localized after Virtual Machines although by default, this extension is not visible in the Finder.

    ~ Is your Home Directory.

    The files that make up the virtual machine are placed in a folder (aka Bundle and or packing) bearing the extension '.vmwarevm' which, by default, this extension is not visible in the Finder.

    Example: "~/Documents/Virtual XP.vmwarevm Machines/Windows" in the Finder would just resemble an icon named "Windows XP."

    To view the contents of the entire file "Windows XP.vmwarevm" ctrl-click (or right-click) on the "Windows XP" icon and select Show the contents of the package.

    To change the configuration file of .vmx ctrl-click (or right-click) on the "Windows XP.vmx" file and select open with > choose another... then in Application choose TextEdit.

    Note: If you use Firefox do not copy and paste the parameters if TextEdit unless you copy only the exact line and nothing else in the case, use an editor such as TextWrangler.

    ====================

    Notes: Creating an ISO Image of the CD/DVD drive

    When you use utility disk in order to have a bootable ISO Image, you must select Master CD/DVD without encryption in which case by default, it will have an extension .cdr file and in version 1.1 of the merger and later does not need to be changed in .iso, although one can if one chooses to. A default .dmg image is compressed and is not bootable, as an uncompressed .dmg will start if changed in .iso and of course the source CD/DVD should be bootable in the first place.

    To create an ISO Image using disk utility...

    1 insert the CD or DVD disc into the optical drive of your computer.

    2. open disk utility (/ Applications/Utilities/Disk utility).

    3. Select the CD or DVD drive in the list of disks and volumes.

    4. Choose file > new > "Disk Image from (name of the disc)."

    5. type a name for the disk image.

    6. choose "DVD/CD master" from the Image Format pop-up menu.

    7 choose "none" from the encryption pop-up menu.

    8. click on save.
