Configuration of dv6 6123cl memory

Have a Dv6 6123 cl with Windows 7 64 bit.  I will boost the RAM a little. This computer has a 4 and a chip to 2 gb in the two slots available for a total of 6 GB configured out of the factory. I confess to being a little confused because I thought that mixed chips was a strict no-no.  Don't think?  Is why I have a few questions because I do not need or want to pay to improve the full 16 GB/kit game and wonder if 8 GB so will make a significant difference. I don't play but use Indesign a lot and have often 3-4 very large programs open in use at the same time.

1. have - I have only the unique opportunity to go up to 8 GB? (if no 16)

2. If I go to 8 GB can I keep the chip 4 gb into it and buy and add a 4 with the same speed and size or should I replace both with a kit of 8 GB?

3. If I wanted to be really creative - could I keep the 4 and add a plug of 8 to 12 - a little too much, but a good compromise?

In other words, HP seems to have mixed and matched in a way that I'm not used to it. Can I do - or y at - it something strict owner on the Dv6 I need to know? Thank you.

Hi, Mikey:

Here is the link to the service manual for your laptop.

http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c02842252.PDF

According to me, the page of specifications of product for your laptop won't work.

In accordance with Chapter 1, page 6, computers laptops with AMD processors as yours, can take a maximum of 2 x 4 GB of memory.  It is a part of the Intel base DV6 covered in this manual which can take 16 GB of memory.

So, I would not take a chance that a module of 8 GB will work.

Now to answer some of your other concerns:

1. Yes, you can mix memory but it does not work in DDR mode.

So now that we have discovered that your laptop can have only 8 GB of memory, the decision for you now become much easier...

Buy a 4 GB module and now you get 8 GB and the mode of DDR.

You should see a small improvement.

Cost of a compatible 4 GB chip is well worth.

    Hi all

I tried to find a way to solve the problem I encounter without success, so I decided to join this community and hope that someone else came across something similar and has been able to solve.

I have two identical HP notebook computers (HP Pavilion dv6 - 6123cl) and both of these computers have exactly the same problem. After you have reinstalled Windows 7 for some reason any USB ports on the left side of the laptop are not recognized by Windows, leaving me with only 2 USB ports available. I downloaded and installed all the official drivers from the HP site but the problem remains still. Device Manager will not find the drivers and it drives me crazy because all the USB ports on both computers worked very well so far. What am I supposed to do?

Any help or suggestion is highly appreciated.

    You are the very welcome.

Download and install both of these drivers and restart.

Here is the link of my spec:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02910560

The link above shows in detail the characteristics of my motherboard.

I checked out the websites that my CPU (AMD APU A8-3530MX) is compatible with the RAM speeds up to 1600 MHz, but I don't know if my motherboard supports.

I was wondering if I can improve my RAM by installing 2 x 8 GB modules (@ 1600 MHz) or 2 x 8 GB (@ 1333 MHz). Total of 16 GB of RAM.

    Please leave a response

  • Question on Pavilion DV6-2140EF memory upgrade

    Hello

I tried to replace my 2 * 2GB memory modules by modules of 2 * 4 GB on my Pavilion DV6-2140EF

The maintenance manual mentioned that each module of memory should be 4096-MB, 1066 MHz DDR-3 DIMM (part number 579155-001)

It supports the total system memory of 8192 MB (4096 MB x 2, dual-channel).

I bought these two 4 GB modules:

    Corsair RAM DDR3 up to 1066 CL9 Kit2 COR

But it did not work. Windows 7 64 bit Pro could not start, even if the memory of 8 GB was visible through the BIOS and test memory BIOS was ADOPTED. I tried with a single 4GB module and I had the same problem. When I handed the older modules, it worked good gain.

Now, I am planning to buy these modules:

    Crucial 8GB Kit (4GBx2) 204-pin PC3-8500 DDR3 SODIMM, Unbuffered, CL = 7, NON ECC, DDR3-1066, 1.5V, 512Meg x 64

    Would this work better?

  • UCS 200 M1 power Hang @ 'configuration and test of memory, please wait... »

    Hi all

I am new to the solution of the UCS and tried recently updated the BIOS via the host update utility and MMIC. There were a few warnings version that prevented the upgrade, but I was able to update the firmware of the NETWORK adapter.

CIMC is at version 1.0.2 and BIOS at C200.1.4.1.0.071320110702.

I'm not sure how to read the version of the BIOS however.

When the server is turned on, there are 3 long beeps and it crashes to the configuration and memory test, please wait...

In any case, I am tired of the BIOS recovery procedure using the J1E5 jumper without success.

    If anyone has experienced this?

    Thank you in advance.

    Calvin.

Host upgrade utility is not supported until version 1.2.

This may have been the cause of some of your upgrade issues.

You run a BIOS of 1.4 to what I see. You will need to update your version MMIC for version 1.2 and the. Use the HUU to 1.4

  • Hard drive and RAM for Pavilion dv6 - 6123cl

Hello! I want to change my ram and my hard drive. The ram will be 8 GB and 2 TB drive, I wonder if I used the hard drive, if supported? and with regard to the ram, if I have to buy one that is compatible or anyone served me?

    Thank you! : smileywink:

    Here is the Manual:

    Repair manuals

You are located in the United States? If not, where? Country only just so we can connect you to a source for hard disk and memory.

Page 62 on the hard drive and 66 for the memory.

You must open the door to the memory and see if you have a 4 gig stick or a 2 x 2. If you have 1 x 4, you just need to get another to have 8. If you have 2 x 2, you need get 2 x 4.

You need DDR3-1333 mhz SO-DIMM memory and you need a 2.5 inch width 9.5 mm thick hard SATA. 2 TB disks are not really available on the market. 1 TB is about as big you'll find there.

Post back with your country of residence, and we can connect you to a good online store. If your hard disk does not well at the moment you use the HP Recovery Manager to burn DVDs to put the software on the new recovery disc.

  • HP dv6-3259wm Memory Upgrade

    Hello

Windows 7 64 bit can support up to 192 GB of memory (it is for Ultimate versions, business and professionals only), however the 8 GB limit see you for your laptop is due to the motherboard and it will not support more than 4 GB per slot.

This is also confirmed by the option of upgrade on Crucial.com

Limits of memory for Windows 7 can be found here.

  • Configuration of the physical memory of 5740-6378

I have the Aspire 5740-6378 and wants to double the RAM from 4 to 8 GB. According to my hardware diagnostics there are four locations of memory on board, even if I am only able to find two. If I can find the others, I can add 2x2gb glue instead of having to replace the existing, perfectly functional RAM with 4 GB sticks.

I am looking for help to someone who has been down this road before, or has access to a well illustrated manual, before I'll dig too deep and may break something!

    Thanks in advance.

This laptop supports up to 8 GB of memory. However, there are only 2 slots memory on the motherboard. You can install 2 * 4 GB memory sticks...

  • HP Pavilion dv6 - 6123cl "AMD display driver stopped responding."

    Hello. Recently, when I Watch youtube videos, a few times, the screen freezes, power failure and come back again with the message 'display drive has recovered", and then, if I continue to watch a video on youtube, the laptop will just crash and this screen will go up;

Question is, how can I solve this problem sometimes happens when I watch videos of youtube?

    P. S.

    -The game works perfectly

    -CPU is not overheating

    Hello

    Try the following.

First, download the Flash uninstall utility on the link below and save it to your desktop.

    Flash Player Uninstaller.

Once the download is complete, close all browser windows and start the program uninstaller.  Once this done, reboot the laptop.

Then, use Recovery Manager to reinstall your graphics driver from AMD - the procedure to use the Recovery Manager to reinstall the drivers and software is detailed in the document in question on the link below.

    Recovery Manager - Windows 7

    Recovery Manager - Windows Vista

Once the reinstallation is complete, restart the laptop.

Then, download and install Firefox , then using Firefox, download and install the latest version of Adobe Flash. Note: You can deselect the option to include McAfee Security Scan Plus before download.

Close all browser windows before you run the installer of Flash.

Start Firefox and see if Youtube videos play Ok in this browser - if they, without the AMD driver crashing, close Firefox, open Internet Explorer and click on the same link Adobe Flash above to get a command prompt to install the ActiveX component.  Once completed, restart Internet Explorer and check the video in the browser.

  • Memory configured

    Hello

A virtual machine allows more memory than its configured memory?

    For example:

ESXi host is to have 10 GB of memory. 2 VM are hosted on this. Dv01 & VM02 configured memory is 2 GB.

    (1) if the Application is running inside the virtual machine requires more memory, then Will VM would be able to use memory configured 2 GB of memory conc as host is to have additional 6 GB of memory?

    Hello

When you say 'configured memory', I guess you are trying to say that it is the memory that you have assigned as you created the virtual machine.

In this case, not your virtual machine cannot be used more than it is configured with. you increase the memory.
