'Configuration of Windows updates' when I turn on or off

I bought a new PC in August and no problems so far.  When I turn on the PC I get a message saying "Configuring Windows Updates - do not turn off your computer."  It takes about 2-3 minutes.  The same thing happens when I switch off.  I inadvertently did something to cause this?  Hope someone can help me.  Thanks in advance.  Janis B

Hi Carriesmum,

This isn't an error message that it would take place usually if an update has been installed and it must configure when you restart th.

But this should not happen at every reboot.

First of all, I would say that you wait for the process to complete and then check if the problem persists.

If the problem persists, then try the steps below and the check

The update is not installed successfully, you receive a message, and the computer restarts when you try to install an update in Windows Vista and Windows 7

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/949358

If you use Windows vista, refer to the Microsoft article below

Message when a Windows Vista-based computer takes a long time to restart or stop: "configure Windows updates.

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/932141

I hope this helps!

Method 1:  Change the boot order in the BIOS settings:

    See the following steps:

Important: BIOS change / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

    (a) start on typing Dungeon either F1, F2, F10, Esc, or DEL to enter the BIOS Setup.

Warning: some manufacturers use F10 for recovery of the system.

    (b) glance to "Drive Configuration", "Boot order" or similar

    (c) check the second drive the first boot device CD/DVD and hard drive.

    (d) to save the settings and exit.

    Hello

I get very frustrated by that. I restarted my computer and updates began to install automatically. However, he stopped and then I got the message "failure Configuring Windows Updates. I think it is absurd that the computer does not ask me if I want to install the updates now or later. What happens if I had to give a presentation in school or I was in a business meeting? In addition, how is it possible that your own updates to dirty computers? HOW? Has any sense at all. You force me to update and your update of the computer mess.

  • Windows 8 stuck on configuration of windows update. (at 13%)

    Hello world

I bought 2 new laptops yesterday with 8 current running windows.

I get a disturbing problem with updates windows has automatically downloaded and then when the computer has restarted and then it stuck on 13%.

It is the screen I see.

    Configuration of the windows updates

    13% complete

Do not turn off your computer

It has restarted once during Setup and that I write a message displays that it has failed and will try again. ? ! ?

    still stuck on 13%

didn't find anything on here or on google then maybe a very recent problem? Thank you

    Lewis

    Answer:

    These are the problems

    1.

stuck at 13% not able to access safe mode and move is not out of the screen for more than an hour

    2.

stuck at 13% and able to access updates and safe mode back after 45 min.

Unfortunately, if you have the first problem that you are drunk, take it back to the shop!

For the second problem, there is a fix and its all down to your audio drivers. somehow the update was not compatible with some sound card drivers.

    Here are the steps:

    1. go in Control Panel

(on the startup type Control Panel)

    2. click on system and security

    3. click on system

    4. click on Device Manager

Scroll down and click on sound, video and game controllers

I uninstalled and deleted IDT high definition audio CODEC

    When does update and restart.

computer will bring up to 35% (in some places for example 15% its slow but not moving not on) and the attempt to restart, will be stuck on the screen so close power by pressing the power button and turn on.

This now restart the laptop and continue the configuration.

now, some people have had problems with windows 8 do not install the drivers that you have deleted from the system, everything you do is look on Google for the driver that you are looking for and then download and install.

and their you go, your computer is ready to use

Microsoft should have found this problem and maybe even because it is their own site in question.

    more problems made me know!

  • Satellite L850-1HP not configure downloaded Windows Update files

My laptop was having problems on the first day that first the CD-ROM not open, then the webcam and the microphone switch off forever and can not be turned on again never and finally, this summer, my computer laptop would not connect to any WIFI network at all, it will still fail.

I went to the place where I bought it for support, they sent for repairs, a week later, I'll be back, it is restored back to factory settings, all seemed well, CD ROM functional... Webcam and microphone too.

So I thought I would check around and start things tyding for my taste, and then I realize that I need to download updates from Windows Update, so I do it, on 100 + updates, I start to download, but they do not download until the 20th minute that it is stuck at 0% What seemed fishy to me, because then he just jumped up to 10% and progressed forward.

After downloading the updates, or so he said she had, I restart the laptop in to get their working and configured properly.

There can be no. After I clicked on restart, it began to close, saying it is to configure and to 20-30%, it restarts, and then he charged to the top of the screen, even saying that he configures updates, then he said that he failed and said it restore the data back to normal, that he never scare made.

After about two hours of waiting so he could do nothing at all, I restart the PC, the same thing.

Restart again but this time I restore things settings once more, takes me about 1 hour with a full erase of the data (of course the rest of the OS and toshiba apps too) all implemented naming stuff, and accept the terms and conditions, blah blah, operating system starts, I check everything and restart.

After the reboot, I decide not to configure anything until I downloaded all the windows updates, so I do just that, BUT I get the same error again, sneaky - slow download of updates, restart and get the same message that it cannot configure updates and wait forever-long for the laptop to "restore" data back to normal which she didn't do, once again.

I'm completely helpless as to what I should do, I restored factory once more but this time I'll just wait for some feedback or try to make everything I find on these forums it is useful.

    Help, please.

  • The configuration of Windows Update loop again and again and again...

While on my computer, I received a pop-up to restart my computer for Windows updates.  I fact and 2 of the 3 downloaded.  For the 3rd, my computer restarts, the vista logo appears and the screen is blue saying 'configuration update 3 of 3 0% complete'.  The problem is it never moves 0, constantly restarts itself and has been done for more than a week (I can't leave my computer on all day).  I'm frustrated and want to come back on my computer, but no matter what I do (restart it, put it in safe mode...) it won't go past the updates configuration message.  What should I do to fix my computer and have it show the office, etc. ?

    Hello

To see the version of Windows - Start - type in the search box-> Winver find at the top of the list and double-click it.

(Or for XP Start - Run - type Winver hit)

I guess that part of the question could be a driver which is really old or similar should not be loaded.
