Configuration of wireless network

I have a HP SmartTouch 600-1050.

I am connected to the internet via cable modem BrightHouse.

I recently acquired a Nook HD + and would like to know how to set up a wireless network.

I have a Linksys Wireless N300 router.

YES, the installation program should look like;

If the cable modem, wireless router and computers are in the same room:

Coaxial cable > Cable Modem > cable > E900 Wireless Router > cable > computer + CORNER HD + on 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFI

If the cable modem, router wireless are in the same room and the computer is in another room:

Coaxial cable > Cable Modem > cable > router wireless E900 + computer and NOOK HD + 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFI

Please send Bravo

  • Issues with Dell desktop computer wireless and D-Link wireless network card. Only able to get wireless access by checking "Use Windows to configure my wireless network". This kind of file sharing impossible.

original title: can't see the computer on wireless internet!

I hope that's not too much detail, but I would like that the sequence of events to be clear...

I have a Dell desktop computer that's probably six or seven years now.  It did not come with a wireless card, so I bought a DLink router and combo card wireless, install both with the DLink software.  It works beautifully.

Later, we through my rep AT & T DSL, I got a Motorola modem/router with wireless capabilities.  I had plugged directly on my computer Dell desktop and moved to a Dell laptop DLink wireless receiver.  No problems.

The Dell laptop is dead and the DLink receiver has not been used for a long time.  Family of my daughter moved to our place, and I have connected his desktop computers and laptop to wireless internet, using the Windows Connection Wizard.  Still no problem.

I got a new ASUS laptop, I also linked using the Windows Wizard.  STILL no problem.

Now, here's the problem comes.  I moved the Dell desktop computer, connected the DLink wireless receiver to it and I am able to get wireless access ONLY when I go into the properties of PC, click the wireless networks tab and check the "use Windows to configure my wireless network" box.  Then I can connect correctly, but I don't see this computer on my wireless network.  Bad luck... because I want to be able to access share files.  When I try to connect using different assistants of Windows, I get a message to the effect that, if I used another software to connect to the program, I can't use the Windows Wizard.

So, what can I do to remove the original configuration of DLink completely and to connect to my wireless network using the wizards in Windows?  I uninstalled the software of DLink, but it seems to have no effect at all.

BTW, Dell desktop computer is running XP, office computer of my daughter is running VISTA, and two laptops are equipped with Windows 7.  I can see all the computers on the network with the exception of the original Dell desktop computer wireless.

    Any help would be appreciated!

  • C4780 omitting step of configuration of wireless network

Hi at all - no matter what I try, connect get the C4780 from the step network configuration.  All abstracts of the report status come back negative - "Cannot retrieve intellectual property."

The wireless network is hosted by a DLINK DI-624 with WPA - PSK encryption. HOWEVER (!), I'm ONLY using the 624 as access point and not like the firewall/gateway to my ISP (verizon FIOS).  The real gateway is a DLINK DI-604 with an IP 192.168.0.1.  The DI-624 has a different IP address static (.15 in this case) without WAN connection.  The FIOS WAN is connected to the 604 and the 604 provides the DHCP service.  The DHCP service on the 624 (wireless) is off - it's just acting as a wireless access point.

For the curious, the reason is that we only run the wireless when we need as the House is especially wired.

This wireless setup works fine for all other devices that we tried (portable computers of all sorts.), the iPods of all kinds, games, etc.

But not for this printer.  Question - is this printer assuming that the wireless access point _is_ the entry door?  Is there anything else I can try?  Thank you very much in advance!

    Amazing - I'm speechless.

On the implication that the C4780 requires WPA2, I started looking into that.  It turns out that apparently verizon FIOS in the old days (for how long I don't know) used routers wireless DI-624 (revC), which is what I have.  I got their share.

These routers _do_ WPA2 support out-of-the-box, but _not_ to verizon!  It seems that verizon charge their own copy of the firmware on the device before giving it to customers.  Their version of the firmware does not supports WPA2.  Also, their version does not support other options native dlink.

In addition, the firmware upgrade process has apparently a security check where incompatible updates are rejected.

Then, try to install the real dlink firmware to get the support of WPA2 by downloading just the dlink firmware does not work.  Instead, one must "jailbreak" the DI - 624 by doing a hard reset that removes everything.  This leaves the open unit to install any firmware (an implication being that if a bad firmware is loaded, one can brick the device).  So after a hard reset, I installed the firmware dlink real, re-configured as an AP with WPA2.

    And tada, it works!

As a minor side note, everything works except to go to the page interface web printer via a device wired (it seems to me that to get the printer Web page needs a wireless device).  However, this is not a problem.  This works.

Thanks a lot for the persistence and time to support this list.

p.s. Here is a link to find out how to reset the DI-624 and load new firmware:

  • Question about the configuration of wireless networks

I managed to set up my laptop and desktop computer to access the interest through a Belkin WLan modem router. So why can't they access each other or the printer that is attached to the office. Computers independently access the router via a wireless connection.

The printer is connected to the desktop via the parrell port. Each are running xp home.

    Hello

In so that they can access the printer, you must have the shared printer. Go to start-> settings-> fax and printers, then go to your printer, right click and go to share. Then share it. Now go to your cell phone and go back to the printers and Faxes page. Now click on add a printer and click on that it is connected to the network via another computer and add it to your laptop. Now it should be usable on the network. So that your computers to see each other, they will have to be interconnected, in a literal sense. Access networks and create a LAN or WLAN, first of all, the office, then the laptop. After that the two of them, they should be interconnected and see themselves. A routher is dandy, but for some reason, some computers do not always act as well as on a network up to that force you to.

Using Windows options, network, Network Setup and configuration of wireless network connection me don't upset none the case. I understand there is a way that Windows will automatically connect. I need to update my Windows? I would like assistance. Bill

    Thanks for the information.

No, you don't need an update.

I do not understand your answer to no. 5, in particular "the material was not recognized by Windows, it requires a manual boot without Windows manages the connection of the device to the router."

In Windows, there are basically two ways that a wireless adapter can be controlled.  Windows can control the unit by using a feature called 'Wireless Zero Configuration' or a utility provided by the manufacturer of the card.  As a general rule, you want one or the other - not both active at the same time.

If the icon you are referencing is a 'Z' in a box (http://tinyurl.com/cjn3mje), then the Zyxel utility is in charge.   Which is perfectly OK (and probably provides more features than Windows WZC), but I'm not familiar with the details of using the Zyxel utility.  If you identify the model of your adapter, I can see if I can find his online user manual, and explain the steps you need to take

If you use the Zyxel or Windows WZC utility, you must take the basic steps are the same:

    1. search for available wireless networks.
    2. identify your network in the list that is displayed (this is your SSID or 'Network name')
    3. click on "sign in".
    4. Enter the encryption password when you are prompted.

Did you do the above?  That's happened?

    Additional information:

Windows WZC automatically saves the connection (SSID and password) information once you connect successfully.  I don't know if the Zyxel utility done automatically or if you explicitly save a 'profile' with the data.

Any utility that you use, you must know the SSID of your router and the password for the encryption.  Verizon technology that installed your router should provide you with this information.  It can also be written on a label on the bottom of the router.

If you do not have - or lost - this information, you can find it by connecting to the router.  Preferably, you should do this using an Ethernet cable - assuming you can get your computer back close enough to the router.  You will need to know the name of user and password to connect to the router.  Again, Verizon technology would have to provide this information for you.

As far as I can determine '20.10.7' is the revision number of the firmware of your router.  I believe - but am not sure - that the user guide is here--> http://www.actiontec.com/support/doc_files/MI424WR_Rev._E&F_User_Manual_20.10.7_v1_GPL.pdf

  • Installed wireless Belkin, unable to see network, get error windows cannot configure this wireless connection and starting the WZC abuse

    Hello

I have a belkin wireless router that worked on my primary computer and a portable computer for years.

Recently, I moved my main computer and now it dosnt seem to work. Belkin is installed but when I ask to see available networks, it says that windows cannot configure this wireless connection and starting the WZC abuse. Belkin still works fine on my laptop so I know no there is not a problem here. Can someone help me please? I tried to type in %SystemRoot%\system32\services.mcs\s as with a question of people, but all I get is windows can't find this.

    Any ideas please?

    Thank you

    * original title - Help... problem with belkin wireless *.

Let's see if I can cut through it.

    You wrote:

Click the Wireless Networks (see this picture) - I did

Is the box 'Use Windows to configure my wireless network' checked or unchecked? There is no such box.

I connect using - he says belkin. another box saying this connection uses the following items. then underneath there are 3 tabs - install, uninstall and properties. If I press on properties it says name provider and in this box, it says windows index.

It seems that you don't have not clicked the "Wireless networks" tab, after you open the properties of your wireless adapter.  From your description, you look at the 'Général' tab: click HERE to see the "Général" tab Click HERE to see the 'Wireless Networks' tab.

There are 5 columns: name, description, status, startup type and log as.  The values for the last 3 columns should be started, automatic and Local System - on my screen there are 4 tabs at the top - general, connect you, recovery and dependency.

You skipped a step... 5 columns are in the 'Services' window initial... you arrive at "4 tabs at the top", AFTER you double-click the Wireless Auto Configuration.

Status of the service which includes 4 boxes. stop suspend and resume. the button highlighted in the start menu

Just to the right of the expression "Service status", you should see a Word.  On your system, this word probably is "stopped."  The 4 buttons (boxes) are how to control the service.  Because you said that the highlighted button is 'start' which means that the service is currently stopped, and you will need to click on this button "start" to start.

I strongly suspect that you had used the Belkin utility to control your adapter - and now, you also started WZC.  As I wrote above, you can have both running at the same time.

When you click the icon of your "Belkin", do you have a screen that looks like this: http://www.wi-fiplanet.com/img/2006/belkinn1/08.jpg

If so, you should return to the utility Services and 'Stop' the automatic configuration service.  If you want to use WZC instead of the Belkin utility, see http://en-us-support.belkin.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/40/related/1

I'm not familiar with the Belkin Wireless networking utility, but many wifi manufacturer utilities can be used to turn your wifi on and off, then maybe your was off (the adapter on your computer - not the router).  If you identify the model of the card you have in your main computer, I'll see if I can find the manual on the Belkin website and maybe give you a little more information.

When I go to network connections it shows: Wireless network Connection - connected, Shared Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN Mini - Card & connection 1394 - 1394 connected Net Adapter.

How can I solve this problem.

    original title: 1394 connection?

    Hi ToddHenderson,

You did changes to the computer before the show?

    Method 1
I suggest you try the following steps:

The error message can mean that your hardware manufacturer has provided you with its own software to wireless as an alternative configuration to Windows Wireless Auto-Configuration service.

I suggest you follow the steps below.

Use Windows to configure wireless settings

    a. go to the start menu, then select run
    b. type ncpa.cpl, and then click OK to open the menu of the network connections
    c. Select your Wi - Fi connection service and choose the option change settings of this connection.
    d. go to the wireless networks tab and check use Windows to configure my wireless network

    Launch Windows Zero Configuration

    e. return to the start menu and select run
    f. type % SystemRoot%\system32\services.msc/s, and then click OK
    g. double-click the Wireless Auto Configuration option
h., go to the startup type list, and then click Automatic. Click on apply to confirm the changes
    i. Accordingly, click Start in the Service status section click OK to apply the changes.

    Method 2
Try the steps from the following link:

Have you used the Atheros WLan or Intel WLan card?
As far as I know if you unit has an Atheros WLan card you should always use the Atheros Client Utility to connect to some networks.
