Confused on iTunes files

In my iTunes folder on my iMac, I have some confusing subfolders.

In my iTunes folder Music under my user name, in addition to my music folder where most of my music is stored, I also shows the following as I dig:

In iTunes Music, I have the following files:

iTunes media folders:

Automatically add to iTunes

Books

Downloads

Videos home

Mobile applications

Movies

Music

Tones

Voice memos

The iTunes media folders it here are illustrated in an another iTunes Music folder following folders:

Audio books

Bob Dylan

Books

Garth Brooks

Mobile applications

Movies

Music

The Who

Tones

Unknown artists

I don't know why there are a few records artist on the right. They include only a few titles in these files.

The unknown artist in the iTunes Music folder folder is the most puzzling.

Among other things, it shows a Unknow Album folder. This folder has more than 300 titles, for the most part, identified by numbers, not names. I can click on them to hear each track, but I would just delete them. I suspect that these are several tracks for some reason any. Is it safe to delete all of these numbered tracks?

Thank you!

No!  Do not delete them.  They are probably not duplicates.

When you add titles to iTunes normally, iTunes creates records artist and Album according to the tags embedded in the track.  If the tags are missing, iTunes uses "Unknown artist" and "Unknown Album."

  • How can I move the iTunes file that keeps track of plays on a new hard drive

I added an SSD for my MacBookPro and use it as a boot drive. I finally understood how to get the entire library of music to play without moving all the music for the SSD (not enough of space for everything), but I have lost all my game account.

There must be a file that lists all these information. Where could I find it? I tried to export the library but the iTunes on the new disc he did not recognize.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

    10.11.6, iTunes 12.3.4.1

The file is the iTunes Library.itl file. This file guard track of everything in iTunes. And I mean everything. What kind of music you have, what has been deleted, playlists, play counts, ratings, date added, files, but a group which is not a lot of information duplicated in the tags attached to the media.

It is quite difficult to judge where exactly you are in this process because you don't have not said us what you did exactly. It's easy to make a mess of a library in doing things without knowing exactly how iTunes really works rather than how we think it works. You can try to copy this file .itl on the original to the new one and maybe drive he always knows that the media files are the original disk, but I'm not positive.

Just to let you know, using a library distributed in this way can lead to complications on the road and requires that begin you now learn the details of the operation of iTunes if you can avoid the problems.

On the iTunes library files - https://support.apple.com/HT201610 - does not mention that a complete library of work also includes other files and also files in the iTunes folder.

  • Disk upgrade - now the iTunes file names point to another partition

I just got a new drive (SSD) mounted on my machine and now because the partitions went on my 'old' hard drive all my iTune file names have changed.

Instead of being _name.mp3 DriveA/folder/file (song), I need to change it to _name.mp3 DriveB/folder/file (song). Is there a simple way to change the iTune system as I have about 550 albums (6 500 songs) in order to manually change them would be extremely difficult?

I run what I think, it's the latest version of iTunes on a Windows system 12.3.2.35 7 Pro 64-bit

If your entire iTunes library is located on the partition of 'DriveB' just hold the SHIFT key when you start iTunes and when you see this message:

Click choose a library... then navigate to and select the file iTunes Library.itl on the score of "DriveB".  This will work as long as your library is in the standard-setting with the iTunes Library.itl file and the iTunes Media contained in the same folder parent folder:

With this iTunes layout can accommodate changes in drive letter from the relative path of the library database in media folders and files is constant.  See tips to the user of turingtest2 on do a split cell library for more information.

BTW, I assumed that you are using 'DriveA' and 'DriveB' just in form of labels for your partitions and do not use drive letters 'A' and 'B' - WIndows still assigns the latter to floppy drives and should not be used for anything else.

  • ITunes files is not found

Recently, I moved my itunes library from the main drive on an external drive. Files moved in all ok but there is an exclamation mark next to most of the files.

I know that I can locate individually each of the files, but it will take forever. Is there a way to locate these files in one shot?

    Hello M-P-H83;

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

I understand your message that you've moved your iTunes library on an external hard drive and iTunes iTunes library was now next to each song exclamation points. Keep your music on an external hard drive is a great way to save space on your Mac.

I recommend that you change the location information in iTunes so that it points to your external hard drive. This article includes steps that you can use to change the path to your files on your external hard drive:

Search and organize your iTunes media files

Locate and replace the iTunes media folder location

    On the Advanced tab:

    • Browse to the location of your iTunes Media folder in the box under "iTunes media folder location.
    • To change the location, click change and enter a new location.

After you change the folder location, existing files can leave without you consolidate your files. To consolidate your files:

    • Mac: In the MenuBar at the top of your computer screen, choose file > library > library organize and select "consolidate files." And then click OK.
    • Windows: Press the control and B keys to open the bar menu of iTunes. Choose file > library > organize library and select "consolidate files." And then click OK. Learn more about the menus in iTunes for Windows.

The old computer files have disappeared. However, the music is still playing on his iphone 5s. So, I want to know how we can transfer music from the phone to the laptop? We tried a bunch of demos of software that are supposed to do with no luck (iexplore, itools, copytrans, etc.). My father is reluctant to buy software without knowing with certainty if it works.

  • iTunes file is corrupt

    Hello everyone.

I downloaded iTunes on my computer a while ago, but I've never had this problem until now.

I have problems to download apps on my iPhone via the USB port on my computer. Whenever I try to download apps, a small window appears out of the blue and says that the file is corrupted. This happens when I try to download new applications and when I try to re - download older applications that I deleted in the past.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have an iPhone 5 that contains the iOS 9.2.1 and a laptop computer containing Windows 7, if that helps.

    Thank you!

    Sincerely,

    Nick Dubravec

With iTunes closed try to delete the folder downloads inside your iTunes Media folder. It can also help to open Internet Explorer and clear their caches too.

  • How to make a movie to itunes file in a UDF?

How to make an itunes movie (mp4) file in a UDF?

I'm putting a movie to itunes on an empty disk but it is a mp4 file not a UDF file and mp4 files

do not work with dvd players

(it is not illegal, I checked if there was any warnings before the movie)

You can not do with the film, which is an item purchased on the iTunes Store.  purchases from the iTunes Store (movies, TV shows and video clips) video use DRM (copy protection) technology which prevents the conversion and modification.

If it's a movie that you've added to iTunes from an external source, you can convert the video file into the iTunes library, but you should start only from the file source of origin if you.  iTunes is unable to do this conversion, so you'll need to use an application that can do this conversion.
