  • External GPU for Mac Mini

I've recently updated to an average device format, and now (not surprisingly) Photoshop is slow when you perform the great composition.  I would like to know if the upgrade to an external graphics card would speed up photoshop and bridge?  I would move out of internal Intel hd 4000 to something like the nvidia 960 or 970.  Does anyone have experience with graphics cards of outdoor games and their effect on the performance of photoshop?

Pierre, my interest in the Puget systems is with what they put out.  We have a few discussions around their test results over the years, with the performance of the multi-core with Photoshop being the one that comes to mind

But they do similar tests with Lightroom

  • Drive external hard (connected to the Mac mini USB) disconnect during use

I have a 3 TB (WD green) hard drive in an external hard drive enclosure "miniStack MAX Media", connected to my Late 2012 Mac mini via USB.

I don't know when he started to do this, but I recently noticed that it was dismantling even when she was in use; the error was:

    Disc eject does not correctly
EJECT 3 ' TB' before you unplug or turn off.

I replaced the USB cable and saw the same mistakes.

I moved the HARD drive to a different box. same mistakes.

I swapped the HARD drive to a whole new WD 4TB blue; same mistakes.

So now I have a new drive in a new case with a new cable, and I see the same messages "Disk not ejected correctly".

(By the way the disk utility has shown that the two discs were fine when I ran first aid.)

This brings me to assume that the problem is with my Mac mini, which runs at El Capitan and is fully aware of the updates of the operating system.

Recommendations on next steps to investigate and resolve this problem?

It seems that your external draws too much power. That shows the report of your system? You have an external power supply for external drive? Have you tried to use all the USB ports on your Mac?

  • Mac Mini does not recognize external hard drive

    Hello!

I have a weird question on my Mac Mini. I have two Seagate to 8 external drives connected via USB to my Mac Mini (mid-2011 with Maverics). The discs worked well, but suddenly one of them will not be recognized by the Mac Mini.

I connected the hard drive of my MacBook Pro and an old PC and it works fine and all files are available, but for some reason, my Mac Mini will have nothing to do with her anymore.

It does not appear in the finder or disk utility. I unplugged the hard drive for hours and then tried to plug it back without a bit of luck. I restarted the Mac Mini on several occasions. I also tried to connect it to all the USB ports on the Mac Mini. When I connect it to the USB ports, there is no whisper sound indicating that it has started working. However, no sign of it on the Mac Mini.

It's like the Mac Mini has decided to ignore the external hard drive, no matter what I do. Seeing this works on other devices, I'm fairly certain that the problem lies in the Mac Mini.

I'm no expert, so any help will be very valuable for me. And if you are kind to help, please explain it to me like I'm 8 or 93 years old.

    Thank you.

Are these drives powered independently or they depend on USB power?

  • Mac mini as a media server connected to the hi-fi amplifier

    Hello

I am considering a Mac Mini to replace my old Lacie Cinema player as my media center. It will be connected to television and, ideally, analog hi-fi amplifier for sound.

Here are my questions and special needs:

-want to browse my music library and control the Mac through my iPad or iPhone. Don't want to use the keyboard or the physical remote. Do something like plex installed on ipad control files that reside on the Mac mini (or external hard drive connected to the Mac Mini)?

-as my amp is analog (with RCA plugs) I guess I have to convert the RCA plugs to the digital amplifier. A Mini Mac USB RCA DAC exist?

I think that's it! Thanks for any help.

The Mac Mini are very small computers.

(for me, it almost seems like a waste to use as only a media center. I use my media center and an office at the same time)

Not sure about this one. I am a user of office and control my media from there.

Everything you need for an analog RCA connection is a stereo 3.5 mm to RCA cable.

  • Connection of the old Mac Iomega Zip to the Mac Mini

I couldn't find an answer to this common question I could map to a solution to my problem, so:

I have an old Iomega 250 MB Zip disk that I used on a Mac of pre-iMac. It is a parallel port connection. I'm trying to use it on a Mac mini running El Capitan. I am trying to connect a parallel cable mini / USB. I am recovering some important files from this bygone era. I have the Mac Ziptools drive.

I don't know if it's to see the player: he seems afflicted to a connected player ID, but can't open it nor report any info on this.

So, in fact do this as shown? If this is not the case, how can I do this? Thank you.

I do not know its being a common question. At least not in this decade.   My G4 has a Zip drive, but it dates back to 2002.

I don't remember if the readers required Zip one driver special for which I suspect 99.999% there is no version of El Capitan.  He could have that included in the operating system returns with OS9, but because people have stopped using Zip disks long ago should not appear in a newer operating system.

  • Is it possible to connect my Mac mini to my Mac Pro laptop using the memory on my mac mini for installing software Ableton as I don't have 3 GB available on my Mac Pro.

Is it possible to connect my Mac mini to my Mac Pro laptop using the memory on my mac mini for installing software Ableton as I don't have 3 GB available on my Mac Pro.

I want to download Ableton software, but it requires 3 GB of free memory that I have available on my MacPro laptop not because most of it is used for my library of music because I'm a DJ.

I'm not sure how I can do it or not at all.

    Thank you very much.

    1. a Mac Pro is not a laptop. Its a big desktop computer.  You probably have a MacBook Pro, which is a laptop.

    2. No, you cannot share the memory (live RAM) or storage (disk space, which is not memory) like that between computers.

However, it is very very bad practice to have so little storage space available for your computer.   If you have less than 3 GB, you should seriously consider an external drive. and unload some files on the outside. Its best not to leave your hard drive to go below 10 GB of free space because it can seriously affect your computer's performance.

  • External drive running on the new Mac Mini

I try to run an external hard drive that has mountain lion OS with Pro Tools HD of 10. My Mac Mini end of 2015 reads the device, but when I try to boot from it I got a clear x. I tried to start the external on my old macbook (circa 2005?) and I was able to load the operating system and Pro Tools. However, because of the sheet material of the Macbook, it is unnecessary. My main goal here is to start this player on my MacMINI, but I think that my hardware is too NEW? I don't know if Apple hardware is not designed for Mountain Lion. Help, please.

You cannot start a Mac from an OS older than what it came with. It has always been like that. If your Mini 2015 will not be able to boot from external.
